Manta droid subfighter
Hey everyone
I want to show you my complete self made Manta droid subfighter. It is made of wood and plastic and it has also lights.
I hope you like it
Here is the link to the YouTube video for that custom droid:
-
Very cool I am a huge fan of scratch built items. Great job
-
looks awesome!!
-
Wow, that's pretty cool. I like that dark shot with the lights. How long do you think this took you to put together?
Welcome to the shipyards!
-
Thanks
The Manta took me about two weeks
-
very cool... is this your own design or a cannon vehicle? I've never seen this configuration before.
-
You can see that kind of droid in the Clone Wars animated series (Battle of Mon Calamari). Kit Fisto fight with some of them
-
You made that yourself? I must say well done!
-
Holy COW! That is a sweet scratch built ship!
-
That is a very cool ship and you have done a wonderful job bringing it to life. Any WIP pics?
-
Color me impressed. That's ultra cool!
-
Thanks a lot
You can find some WIP pics in the You Tube Video for the custom
(Link is above)

I start a new projet today. I add more deatils on the IFT-X from Hasbro. I made today the detailing in the rocket storage and started with a dark wash.
Have you some ideas what could be better on the IFT-X.
here are the first pics:
-
Looking good so far, love the xtra detail in the missile compartment. Spud has a nice custom tank he worked on that has lots of extra firepower and great paint job..
As to ideas, maybe add a nice sensor pod to the top Coppola (night, IR, movement, heartbeat..etc.)
-
Oh yeah, that detail is sweet. Nice start.
-
that missile compartment turned out nice, FF. What else are you going to surprise us with?
-
Very nice start, I love super details customs,
-

This is what I made today, not so bad I think:
-
The tank is one of those vehicles I'm liking more and more. Very versatile for customizing an entire fleet of these puppies, and the design itself is so cool. Nice work FF!
-
I love the gentle weathering and the added equipment.
-
I love it! awesome modification of an already awesome vehicle. I wish I'd done somthing like this to mine instead of what mine wound up looking like! lol
I realy like the burned blaster holes, did you use a soldering iron to do that? very cool.
-

yeah, that's right. I used a soldering iron, it's the easiest way, because the plastic is very thick.
I hope I can finish it today
-
DAME!!! looks awesome FF!! i am so dieing to find this bloody thing still have not seen it :(
-
I was very surprised to find it here in austria but I must say it's not the best vehicle from Hasbro
-
IFT-X
I finished today my IFT-X (clunker crusher) project.
Here a small list what I have made:
weatherin and battle damage (with dark washing and drybrushing)
more details on the rocket storage
antennas and flag (with wire, flute, paper)
more details on the cannons (with refill for a ballpoint pen, wire, paper)
some handles (with wire)
and some other stuff
a YouTube video will follow soon
I hope you like it
-
and some more details:
-
and this is how it looked befor I get my hands on that thing
-
Truly outstanding,FF! This reminds me of the extra details that I used to add to military model tanks when I was younger.
Great job buddy! Expect this one to be showcased on the front page.
UPDATE: Tamer and I liked this one so much that we both posted it on the front page at the same time, LOL.
-
FF that is one flippin awesome fighter tank mate !!
-
Ohhh yes! a great piece of custom engineering if ever there was one....
-
that is uterly beautiful... I honestly may have to get myself another one to do this to it! wow! I am still blown away.
The ONLY problem I have with it is that "clanker crusher" should be in the arubesh type to make it even more cannon. Other than that the entire thing is gorgeous!
-
HOLY COW! That is brilliant! I love everything you added to the ship to make it more real. The weathering is very well done. Great job Man! I love everything about this tank!

btw very funny that tamer also wanted to upload it lol

FF that is one flippin awesome fighter tank mate !!
thanks mate
I really appreciate it
-
thanks for all your posts guys
-
Excellent custom, this is one of the coolest tanks in SW.
-
As much as I loathe all the angles and the inward-scooped front of the design of that tank, I have to say all your hyper detailing on it totally redeems it and makes it a lot more interesting.
the clone in the top turret is too clean though :) awesome idea to add the Jedi pilot head mic to the bucket, I like that!
-
thanks mate
yeah the green clone is too clean for a battle scene, but I have only one of those and I want to keep him in the original condition.
-
Really like the look of it mate, its come up looking awesome.
-

thanks a lot mate
-
Great job on the fighter tank.. My children are getting me one of these from Xmas, and I can't wait to customize it.. I got my start making tanks and it's nice to finally have one made for me :P
-
oh, that is great
I hope you will upload some pics when it's finished.
maybe you can use some of my tricks for your custom
-
hey
Just a little update for you. I've made a You Tube Video for my clunker crusher IFT-X if you are interested:
-
I looks good Fiala. I love that tank. On the Fp now too.

Nice tank.

Nice tank.
thanks
-
love that tank

I started two days ago a new custom vehicle project. I make a 212th AT-RT custom. It's my first try to mix a Revell SW vehicle with a Hasbro figure.
The weathering is made with a dark wash and drybrushing.
I hope I can finish it next weekend.
-
FF thats just pure wicked!
-
Looking good, there, Fila. The weathering and 212th markings on the ATRT look just right. I did something similar to my ROTS atrt and then covered it up again in some desert colors about a year ago.
-
Looks pretty daggone nice to me.
-
that looks bloody awesome FF!!!
-
awesome AT RT dude!
-
Fantastic vehicle. Love that weathering!! But darn, wanted to get my 501st one up before anyone customised one!! Oh well, looks like i now have to make it spectacular if its going to be in the same league as yours!! Great job!!
-
wow... wish I hadn't bought the craptastic hasbro TCW at-rt now.
So that is a revel snaptite model kit?
are the legs articulated in any way? is it poseable? If so... perhaps they could be used on the TCW at-rt or vice versa....
-
I hear you Devin, this one puts that new CW one to shame. On the front page Fiala.
-
Excellent! Great paint apps!
-

So that is a revel snaptite model kit?

Probably not, Spud, as there is a size difference to contend with. The model kit's legs are articulated although the foot joint could use some help to make posing it more user friendly.
Not intending to thread jack, here are a couple of pics to compare size in between the revell kit and my unfinished custom ROTS atrt.
-
This looks terrific! I am having a bit of trouble being able to tell what mods you did other than paint. Did you add a model kit leg joint to the Hasbro vehicle? That is kind of what it looks like! Please more info as this looks bad ass!
-
No buddy, just paint for now. My intent was to add more details later after I finished with the paint apps.
Like I said, I don't want to thread jack but there are better flash-free shots of it in my customs thread, somewhere, that I posted last spring. Here is a link to a shot that I found in my Shipyards Custom Gallery.

sweet at-rt :o :o
-
wraithnine:
Thanks Jay, glad you like it mate
Phatty:
Thanks a lot mate
TheCloneCommander:
Thanks you very much Trev, your Turbo Tank with super-weathering was really a inspiration for me to do this custom
clonemedic96:
thanks mate
lambonspit:
Do you mean a 501st AT-RT custom, man that sounds great. I'm sure you will do a great job.
110clones:
Thanks a lot
Clonehead:
Thanks Clint. Your ROTS AT-RT custom looks very interesting mate, can' wait to see the finished thing.
-
Spudafett:
Clint is right Spud, the size difference is too big. I don't know what size is more movie acurate but a Hasbro figure/Revell AT-RT mix could work. I found some very impressive pics on google: http://www.phoxim.de/christian_bekisch_atrt/christian_bekisch_atrt.html
The articulation is quiet good but could be better in my opinion. Some of the swivels only limited movable.
-
Tamer:
Thank you so much to fp this thing buddy but it's really not finished yet. I want to make a small dio with two or more figs and I want to add some more details on it.
I found today some old water decals and used some of them on the custom. I hope I can start the dio in the next days.
-
Fiala, so is the Revel Vehicle with no mods and a Hasbro action Figure?
-
Fiala, so is the Revel Vehicle with no mods and a Hasbro action Figure?
Yeah that is the original thing. Only the DC-15 blasters on the back are glued on by me.
-
Fiala these are really cool.
-
hmm.... I'm going to have to look into getting one of those. I think the revel model is probably more screen acurate to the movie itself, HOWEVER the TCW at-rt is probably screen accurate to the tv show.
looks to me like revel has the right idea for the legs. Even with limited movement in the joints it is much much better than the hasbro version.
-
AMASSING! :o
-
I can't wait till it's done.
-
AT-RT of the 212th Attack Battalion
As the 212th Attack Battalion became known across the galaxy for precise, lightning quick strikes that dealt devastating blows to Separatist forces, Clone Commander Cody and General Obi-Wan Kenobi worked together to develop an armored company that complemented the speed and skill of the lights infantry. The AT-RT was one of the first walker units deployed with the 212th. It proved extremely effective at supporting the battalion's high-speed, high-impact tactics. (from rebelscum)
Here he is the finished 212th AT-RT custom. I hope you like it guys.

-
that looks really good on that base, Great Job!
-
pure awesome! I love it. All the added packs and pouches, even the bucket, are awesome touches.
I'd love to get my hands on one of these revel kits....
-
Looks AWESOME! You are the master of these model kits!
-
That looks sweet Fiala, absolutely sweet on that base. The figure looks like he sits well in it too, the atrt isn't too small at all imo.
-
oh wow. That base looks fantastic, and matches the AT-RT perfectly.
-
A very subdued and effective weathering job...fine work, good sir. Love the custom-made base as well.
-
it looks really great my friend! the weathering looks nice and the base is also superb!
-
the pt was cool by it's self but the base sets it off
-
thx for all your great comments guys and I must say it again. The base was a teamwork with Stenhunter. The colouring for the ground decal is made by him. Thanks mate, it looks so awesome.
clonemedic96:
Thanks a lot CM, glad you like it mate
spudafett:
Thanks spud. I hope you get one of these kits. They are completely out of the stores here in Austria.
LukeSprywalker:
Thanks Luke, but I found some really amazing Revell costum stuff on google. Some of these guys did a much better job as I did.
Tamer:
Thanks buddy. I agree the size fits very good with 3 3/4" figures. And thanks a lot for putting this on the fp.
lambonspit:
Thanks mate. It's not so good as your custom vehicles but I'm pretty happy with the result.
glorbes:
Thanks a lot
Jedihunter226:
Thanks a lot buddy, I'm glad that you like the custom AT-RT.
bobby-brazil:
thank you very much
-
I only did a tiny part, you were the one who did all the work mate!
Any time you need any help with floors or walls let me know. I love to color them =)
-

But your decal was very important Sten. Thanks again mate. +1 from me
btw I have plans to make an imperial military police trooper again with a small dio. Maybe you can help with with some decals.
-
Fiala,
Amazing AT-Rt's the painting, the figures and the detailing are all first rate, gosh the standards here at the Yards is high!
I especially love the presentation diorama, I love stuff like that. I never get round to finishing off my customs in that way so very well done.

I started with a new easykit custom today. I found the easykit version of Obi-Wan's Eta-2 Jedi starfighter last week. The cockpit is extremely detailed but the kit comes without weathering. So I decided to fix this problem by myself. I also want to add a landing gear to the kit and maybe a small dio.
Here are the first pics of the overworked cockpit:
-
is this the realy small one (1/72 scale I think?) or a larger scale model?
the smaller one looks pretty good next to the action fleet ships, and fits an action fleet mini-figure almost perfectly...
-

It is the larger model. Scale 1/28. The smaller kit is by far not so detailed.
-
Wow, that is large indeed. Is this not close to the scale that they used with the atrt? Your interior is looking good.
-

thanks ch
the scale is quite close to the scale of the AT-RT.
-
Looking good Fiala.

Looking good Fiala.
thanks a lot mate
should be finished next week
-
Over-worked Revell easykit Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor
Finished today the model.
Revell easykit Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter:
length: 198mm
no. of parts: 39
scale: 1/28
no weathering, no landing gear
The Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, sometimes referred to as the Jedi interceptor due to its popularity with Jedi pilots, was a Republic starfighter used late in the Clone Wars that shared design elements of the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Jedi starfighter and the TIE/ln starfighter of the later Galactic Empire.
I changed:
*weathering with sanding, washing and dry brushing
*scratch build landing gear
*scratch build service hatch
*detailed engine on a jack lift
*some decals for the cockpit
The engine and jack lift is from a very old F-16 Revell model kit, scale 1/72.
A small dio(base) for this custom vehicle should follow next week.
-

...
-
That just turned out stunning Fiala! your weathering on this one is perfect and the cleanly executed additions are what makes this build up really special.
On the front page, yet again.
-
that Jedi starfighter is just astounding! You should give some of that same treatment to one of Hasbro's 3 3/4" vehicles now, there's a world of improvements you could make to theirs.
-
Fiala your weathering is amazing. I wish I could get it that perfect on clones.
-
The weathering is top notch, the cockpit really pops in this one, I love it.
Now the added parts really blew me away, I love the engine and lift, I want 1 :)
-
thats awesome FF!
-
Looks great Fiala.
-
KICK A&$ That is awesome!! I love the cockpit and the added accessories. A+
-
That's a great custom job, the paintwork is fantastic.
-
...
now this is what i am talking about, a real life type scenero enginge out repairs, top notch
-
To me this is one of your best if not the best model customs to date. As everyone has pointed out your additions and weathering put this one over the top. That cockpit is brilliant! Love the removable engine and jack, did it come with another model? There is nothing you could do to make it better. 10/10
-
Awesome, just awesome. That is one sweet fighter. I can't wait to see the base!!!
-
Clonehead:
Thanks for putting it on the fp Clint, great that you like it mate.
NFC:
Thanks mate. The idea is great to make some 3 3/4" Eta-2 customs but they are a bit hard to fing here and I'm running out of space so I think my next custom vehicles are also from Revell.
Customs Dept:
Thanks mate but I think your Clones look perfect. I really like your custom work.
Reconsgt:
Thank you very much. The engine and lift is from a very old model kit and too small for Hasbro vehicles, but Revell brought out a nice kit of the Eurofighter with some great accessories. I think this would work great for a Hasbro custom.
wraith9:
Thx a lot Jay
Tamer:
Thanks a lot
StenHunter:
Thanks mate. I'm glad that you like it
hangarbay94:
Thanks Jules but my weathering is by far not so good as yours mate.
bobby-brazil:
Thanks bobby. I really like to make things more detailed and I think I will make a lot more of these Revell customs in the future.
Luke Sprywalker:
Thank you so much Luke, to hear that from one of the best vehicle custom maker is really awesome.
The engine and the jack lift are from a 10 year old Revell F-16 Fighting Falcon model kit scale 1/72.
flaccideagle:
Thanks mate. I hope I can finish the base next weekend.
-
great at rt were do you get those i want one lol
-
here is the vid for the AT-RT custom, again with some tricks.
I hope you like it guys:
-
The kit turned out fantastic, the video was a nice progression of your work, I liked and will be waiting for more of them ;)
-

Thanks a lot sarge.
and btw there is a lot more video stuff coming in the next weeks
-
Fiala pm me that embed code if you can so I can fp it. I can't see youtube as it is firewalled at work daggone it!
-
Great job on these vehicles. I really like the jedi starfighter.
-
absolute great Vehicles, fantastic At-Rt!!!
-
Over-worked Revell easykit Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor (Anakin)
Finished today the model.
Revell easykit Anakin's Jedi Starfighter:
length: 198mm
no. of parts: 39
scale: 1/28
no weathering, no landing gear
The Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, sometimes referred to as the Jedi interceptor due to its popularity with Jedi pilots, was a Republic starfighter used late in the Clone Wars that shared design elements of the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Jedi starfighter and the TIE/ln starfighter of the later Galactic Empire.
I changed:
*weathering with sanding, ink wash and dry brushing
*some decals for the cockpit
*custom stand for the model
-
...
-
this is great man! :D :D
-
thats another beautiful piece of work, Fiala!
-
stunning FF you are the master model maker here my friend!!!!
-
CaptainLux:
thanks a lot CL
Clonehead:
Thank you very much Clint, I'm glad taht you like mate.
TheCloneCommander:
Thank you Trev. Did you find some time for your camo gunship?

Here is a repainted Revell Y-Wing with demounted engine.
The Y-Wing is part of black squadron (identification: black four).
Main task of the sqaudron is the destruction of imperial Star Destroyer and other large ships of the imperial fleet.
The transition point engine/wing is scratch build with wire and parts from other model kits.
a small diorama will follow in one or two weeks
model kit:
Revell easykit (comes with markings of gold squadron)
includes 1 pilot and 1 R5 astromech droid
no weathering, landing gear or stand included
scale 1/72 (about 22cm long)

-
y wing looks awesome , i like how those engines come off too
-
that looks frickkin awesome!!
-
amazing work as always. the scratch built pieces and details add depth and uniqueness to an otherwise standard kit.
this looks to be in good scale with the action fleet ships...
I've been meaning to pick me up a few of these easy kits and never got around to getting any of them. :( seeing your masterfull work on them realy makes me want to go get them.
-
The Y-wing is probably my favorite fighter yet and your work on this one warms my soul, FF. Very nice work!
-
Wow, that effect with the engine looks great. I like the black markings too. Once again another great job.
-
FF, that Y-Wng is a beaut, I especially like the black ident pattern you've painted to the cockpit section, it's very original and works really well with the bomber. I also think you've weathered it perfectly, the technique you've used highlights the detailing perfectly, making it look far more complex.
I really like what you've created, it's a great addition to your portfolio and an original piece.
Top marks!!!
-
I have to echo what everyone is saying, this is a beauty! Your additions make it truly stunning. Great job and I can't wait to see more on this.
-
its really amazing man!
Great work on the weathering and the engine, its all amazing!
-
great works, you are a master in weathering!

T-65BR X-wing reconnaissance starfighter
The T-65BR X-wing reconnaissance starfighter, commonly called the Recon-X or Snoopscoot, was a variant of the Incom T-65 X-wing starfighter modified for reconnaissance missions. A vast improvement over the aged and slow Longprobe Y-wings, the T-65BR featured an advanced, high-gain, long-range sensor package with high-speed hypertransceivers in place of the standard X-wing's proton torpedo launchers.
The on-board R2-R-series astromech droid coordinated the sensors to provide maximum efficiency, a requirement when jumping into potentially dangerous zones. It was also equipped with a HoloNet communicator that enabled it to relay its findings instantaneously to allied command centers.
(wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/T-65BR_X-wing_reconnaissance_starfighter)
the model kit:
The starting point was of course a Revell eayskit X-Wing starfighter (http://www.revell.de/starwars/produkte/en-x-wing-fighter.html)
length: 218mm
wingspan: 195mm
scale: ~1/100
no. of parts: 38
the custom:
I used model kit bombs, wire, parts of an old computer board, Iron Man missiles etc. for the custom
change list:
*long-range sensors in the front
*towed sonar in the back
*access door on the bottom
*detailing of the cockpit
*lines for the landing gear
*new painting
*weathering

-
christoph you are a true master of this
-
amazing! I've seen others make this variant using action fleet models but I've never seen anything this detailed before. You sir, are by far one of the most accomplished modelers whose work I've had the pleasure of viewing!
do the rear sensors pull out or is that a swappable feature... in other words do the wires retract into the vehicle?
-
great work!! you are a true customizing master.
-
That is awesome indeed! IT looks like that front piece was sculpted precisely for that X-Wing. Very cool FF
-
Wow. What an amazing custom. I didn't even know about this vehicle, but I like it! Expect to see it on our fp soon if someone already didn't get it put up there.
-
Christoph, I do believe that you nailed that one. Dude, that turned out really nice.
-
wraithnine:
thx a lot Jay
spudafett:
thank you very much for your comment spud
the towed sonar is just a swappable feature. I use long wire for the extended sonar and short wire for the retracted sonar
Art deWhill:
Vielen Dank Stefan. Dennoch ist es nichts im Vergleich mit deinen Meisterwerken.
Phatty:
thank you Pat. Everything comes from the odds and ends
Tamer:
Thank you very much Shawn.
Clonehead:
Thank you Clint.
btw I finished today the stand for your Pre Vizsla custom. Thanks again for this awesome figure my friend.
-
WOW, I've never seen that type before! you have done a perfect job re-creating the comic book image, it really is a perfect likeness, and a really amazing custom!
-
Christoph, you are a mad man! You are really cranking out some awesome customs! You better get some sleep buddy! This is the best version I have ever seen of this ship. Your skills are truely complete. You are the master!
-
fiala thats one hell of a ship i am truly amazed master modeler and customizer just awsome!!!
-
thx a lot Jules and K2
LE:
thank you very much for the fp buddy.
I've never seen another custom version of it, do you have a link?
-
how awesome is that ? come on your crankin em out
-
Christoph, it was a while ago on RS. I think they used an action fleet X-Wing. Their parts did not match up near as good to the reference shot.
-
a buddy of mine on deviant art did an action fleet version of the snoopscoot:

I suggest you guys take a look through his DA gallery, he's got some amazingly detailed work... especially with modifying the figures:

thanks for the pic and the link spud

I've tried recruiting him before, but I havn't seen much work from him lately. To be honest I'm not sure if he's still customizing.
(sorry to steal the thunder away from you christoph... I was only posting that for your reference since you said you hadn't seen an AF version...)
it still amazes me how much detail you can shove into these revel kits. They make my models look like mattel toys...

looks awesome FF :)

Hey man, excellent job on the Recon X-wing. It really is amazing what a nice weathering job will do for these kits (of course, super-detailing to T-65BR helps too). And thanks to Spudafett for posting an image of my T-65BR. Maybe someday I'll go back and weather it, but I felt "done" the thing at the time (masking off and painting the wing markings AFTER spraying a basecoat was mind-numbing).
I really like how the black markings turned out on yours. I went back and fourth on what color to use, but black definitely works. I also like the metallic look you gave the sensors. It gives it the Rebel "field-modified" look that really fits. Nice Job!
-
first of all welcome aboard Unreality
It's always nice to meet another vehicle customizer.
You did really a great job on your T-65BR. The paintjob and the sensors are perfect.
Weathering is not a must but it is always highlight especially on every SW vehicle.

URAV VTOL 103 "Mynock"
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV; also known as a remotely piloted vehicle or RPV, or Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS)) is an aircraft that is flown by a pilot or a navigator (now called Combat Systems Officer) depending on the different Air Forces; however, without a human crew on board the aircraft. Their largest uses are in military applications. To distinguish UAVs from missiles, a UAV is defined as a powered, aerial vehicle that does not carry a human operator, uses aerodynamic forces to provide vehicle lift, can fly autonomously or be piloted remotely, can be expendable or recoverable, and can carry a lethal or nonlethal payload. [wikipedia]
The "Mynock" is a small URAV (Unmanned Reconnaissance Aerial Vehicle) in the service of the Republic. A UAV is more powerful than a droid, also cheaper and smaller.
The 1st Recon Squadron is stationed on Coruscant for police surveillance and anti-terror missions. The project was canceled after the takeover of Palpatine.

ISP
The Infantry Support Platform (ISP), also known as the swamp speeder, was a repulsorlift speeder first deployed by the Grand Army of the Republic for swamp combat during the late Clone Wars. [wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/ISP]
HASBRO did a great job and the vehicle looks good but I miss the weathering on the swamp speeder. I add also some handle bars and glued the cannons (or missile) of the swivelling twin blaster cannons into place.
The weathering is made with "wash" and "drybrush" techniques.
I hope you like it:

I tried to put some thoughts on the front page, but this is absolutely so much better on so many levels. Wow, I would love to see it in person.
-
Now that's how hasbro should do it!
-
Just superb FF!
I love the extra effort you've made in doing some outdoor photos showing us the craft in its native environment, a place where your superb detailing and weathering make the vehicle look right at home.
-
Christoph this vehicle looks amazing. I have never cared for this vehicle and you have changed my mind! Isn't is awesome how some weathering and adding a few details can change the look of everything?! Thanks for the outside shots, they really bring this thing to life.
-
I've run off to beg my girlfriend to add this to my growing list of things for my birthday.
For my fortieth birthday, I think we're having clowns and a moonwalk.

awesome Christoph! you bring a real gravitas to every vehicle you touch my friend 10/10

Very cool...
Love the net on one side and the barrel on the other..
Also the weathering is amazing......
Great Job
Greg
-
Fantastic job here, firstly with the weathering and accessories..secondly with the environment you've placed this thing in....and thirdly with the photography.
it really looks like they are "combing the swamps" ...that trooper up to his chest plate in water, etc. looks great.
the only suggestion i'd make is to possibly add a few muddy footprints to the deck.
fun stuff!

Awesome vehicle, and the out door shots look cool :o :o

too bad this thing is a Star Wars vehicle and can't be used inside the XUN magazine, I can already see it in action hovering through the swamps.

T-82 Twin X-Wing
concept and drawing by CamoDeafie
After what felt like an eternity...
I'm back with a custom vehicle.
The Twin X-Wing was on my wish list since I saw it in CamoDeafie's Sci-Fi drawings topic: http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=8530.90
His topic is full of very interesting concepts and "ugly"-starfighters.
The Twin X-Wing is inspired by the F-82 Twin Mustang or the Messerschmitt Bf 109 Z (Zwilling): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_F-82_Twin_Mustang
I used two Revell easykit pocket X-Wing snap model kits and bits and pieces for the B-Wing engine: http://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-episode-iv-vi/id/06723.html
The stand is made with 1,5mm wire and nutwood.

TIE EXPERIMENTAL M1 (BIZZARO)
The TIE Experimental M1, also known as the TIE Bizarro, was an experimental member of the TIE Series and a part of the TIE Experimental Project.
One of the starfighters built by an Imperial research project led by Director Lenzer under the command of Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin, the M1 consisted of a single standard TIE/LN starfighter wing panel with two wing braces connected to a pair of standard TIE series cockpit pods. The port pod held the control systems, and the starboard pod held a turbolaser much heavier than the laser cannons equipped on any previous TIE.

TIE EXPERIMENTAL M3
The TIE Experimental M3, also known as the TIE Warhead, was an experimental member of the TIE Series and a part of the TIE Experimental Project. [wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE_Experimental_M3]
I used the Revell TIE Interceptor kit in 1/90 scale for the custom. The warhead launchers are modified WW2 US bombs in 1/48 scale from an old B-17 kit.
Paintwork: Revell enamel and aqua colours, washes with thinned oil colours.

Excellent execution as always! 10/10

Nice additions on the panels

TIE TRI-FIGHTER (CLUTCH)
The Tri-fighter, known colloquially by both its users and targets as the Clutch, was an "Ugly" starfighter used by Moff Leonia Tavira and her gang of pirates, the Invids.
The Clutch consisted of a TIE/LN starfighter ball cockpit and ion engines and three triangular fins set 120° apart with one fin above the cockpit and two below.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Clutch_(fighter)]
I used a Revell TIE Interceptor model kit for the custom. The engine part behind the ball cockpit is from an old space station MIR model kit.
I used mainly Tamiya spray colours and Revell enamel colours. One flaw of the older Revell Star Wars model kits is the absence of a display stand. I made a simple display stand with nut wood and 1mm wire.
It was a lot of work to cut out the wings and all the other parts but all in all a nice custom project.
I hope you like it.

This is an awesome looking ship mate well done indeed.
Ron
-
Christoph we have had a lot of likes on this for our FB Page. One question I thought was interesting, does that top wing fold so the cockpit will open up or does it have any ingress/egress for the cockpit?

These are great looking TIE Fighters!
Really nice work on them all.

Ron
Thank you very much.
Christoph we have had a lot of likes on this for our FB Page. One question I thought was interesting, does that top wing fold so the cockpit will open up or does it have any ingress/egress for the cockpit?
Thank you for putting it on the ISY FB Page Shawn. That's a good question. My idea was that the entrance to the cockpit is at bottom of the vehicle and the gas fuel tank which is normally below the cockpit is now in the cylindrical part behind the cockpit.
I have to admit that the "folding top wing" concept sounds a lot more interesting and it is also a better solution.
These are great looking TIE Fighters!
Really nice work on them all.
Thank you.

Seeing your customs in pictures is one thing, but having seen them in person was even more impressive! I really like this series of concept TIE Fighters! And the TIE TRI-Fighter is another great addition to it! Excellent work, Christoph!

TIE/D Defender
The TIE/D Defender, commonly known as the TIE Defender or T/D, was a high-performance TIE Series starfighter developed for the Imperial Navy by Sienar Fleet Systems shortly before the Battle of Endor. Representing a shift in starfighter design from previous TIE models, the ship featured a hyperdrive as well as deflector shields to allow it to operate independently of Imperial capital ships. The ship's speed and agility, combined with its firepower, made it arguably the most advanced starfighter available at the time.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/D_Defender/Legends]
I used two Revell TIE Interceptor model kits for the custom. They are very cheap to get on Amazon for about 5,50€. The wings are slightly modified. The superstructure for the wings was made with an plastic ring and parts from the TIE Interceptor kits. The wings are removable.
I know, the wing is not 100% correct but I'm with the result.
I made a simple display stand with nut wood and 1mm wire.

Very nice work. I do enjoy seeing you create all these great TIE Variants.
-
I totally agree with Ron! It's incredible to see how accurate you build these TIEs! I am especially amazed by the connection on the back of the cockpit. The transition between each girder to the wings is just flawless! No glue, no broken edges - just very smooth and clean as always! Also the 120° angle between each girder couldn't be more accurate! I like it a lot!
- Philipp
-
I was looking at this again this morning. How you put that back together (where the 3 panels attach) was flawless. I am assuming there was some trimming there, but it looks like a perfect factory fit.
-
Sorry for the late answer gentlemen.
JDeck: thank you
hemble: thank you Ron
legion078: thank you my friend. I hope I can find some time to make other TIE variants.
Tamer: thank you Shawn. It required a lot of sanding and patience to get everything together.

TIE ECHELON
A radical new and desperate design by Sienar Fleet Systems. The Echelon was incredibly fast and far more manouverable then even the TIE Interceptor. The weapons system was improved. The power consumption was very high and led to overheating.

UT-60D U-Wing
The UT-60D U-wing starfighter/support craft also known as the UT-60D, or U-wing, was a transport/gunship model manufactured by Incom Corporation and used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/UT-60D_U-wing_starfighter/support_craft]
A big thank you goes to Philipp (legion078) who gave me the washes I used for the weathering of the U-Wing
Manufacturer: Revell (https://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-rogue-one/id/06755.html)
Scale: ~ 1/100
No. of parts: 35
Lights and sound module with batteries is included.
Weahtering:
I used different washes to create a weathering effect. I also tried the chipping technique (old sponge with a little bit of paint) on some areas.
Some panels were painted in a different colour to get the typical "rebel ship look".
The engine block was repainted with a dark bronze colour and drybrushed. The cooling fins for the engine are made of cardboard.
I hope you like it.

Thanks for the thumbs up, Christoph! I knew the colors and washes are in good hands, now!
Your U-Wing looks excellent! The wash gives it a great weathering effect! And I think the passion you put into the detail of the cockpit is just outstanding! What a great add to your collection!
Have a great weekend Fiala!

Revell ARC-170 with weathering
The Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighter, also known simply as the ARC-170 starfighter, was a heavy-duty model of starfighter used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars and was considered the latest in fighter technology.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Aggressive_ReConnaissance-170_starfighter]
I've added some weathering and some modifactions to my Revell ARC-170.
Weathering:
AK enamel wash (thanks again Darth More)
Revell Aqua Colour
Modifications:
*wing flaps in different positions
*Astromech
*drilled out muzzles
*repaint of the engines
*red lines around some panels

Oh yeah, looks great. You also do a great job with your description and references. I always feel Star Wars Smarter after seeing one of your new pieces of artwork.
-
Christoph, that's one insane dedication to detail! I can only agree with Tamer: Your background info and references are fantastic! The overall paintjob is amazing - the detail on wings and engines is just elite. I haven't noticed the panel on the back of its wings before. That's interesting. Revell's ARC-170 from 2005 is one nice model kit which you built and painted to absolute perfection.
Excellent work as always my friend! Much respect!

Such an interesting and creative concept! This belongs in SW for sure!
-
Awesome idea and makes so much sense. Reminds me a bit of the "Star Wars Ugly" Concept.
I could so see this being done with TIE Fighters too. Off to share the video.
-
I agree - that's such a cool looking concept! The X-Wing looks great in every color! I'm glad they decided to include Blue Squadron in Rogue One...fantastic work, mate! Your engineering skills always impress!
- Philipp
-
Nice! I really like how your ARC-170 turned out, and I had never noticed the wing flaps. Great eye!
I love the concept for the double X-wing. I've always liked the P-38, so seeing the F-82 (Twin Mustang) as the basis for a concept is pretty great. The model looks fantastic and your paint job is excellent!
-
@Starchaser: Wow, that's some in-depth knowledge about vehicles, Starchaser! And I agree, FialaFernbrugg pays remarkable attention to detail and accuracy.
You always give such nice feedback! It's always a pleasure to read it.

Imperial Patrol Speeder
The C-PH patrol speeder bike, also known as the Imperial patrol speeder or as the interceptor speeder bike, was a model of speeder bike used by patrol stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire to patrol shipyards, cities and other industrial facilities useful to the Imperial cause. One example of their use was in Coronet City on Corellia. [wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/C-PH_patrol_speeder_bike]
Here you have my weathered and detailed Revell Imperial Patrol Speeder.
The patrol stormtrooper is now correctly painted. I used Revell aqua colour black and gave him a light wash with black oil colour.
I used some wire to bring more details on the Patrol Speeder. The inner parts were repainted with acrylic dark grey, the seat with acrylic black.
The weathering was made with AK acrylic wash for german vehicles (thanks again DarthMore for the first class washes). I made some streaks with brown oil colour and I put brown pigments on the foot pedals.

Nice, very nice. Off to share this. Facebook is not working properly this morning, but I tried to add it there too.
Your detailed one is so much better than the regular version.
-
When you mentioned you are working on a "little project" you could've also told me that you were working in a little masterpiece!
Christoph, your attention to detail and accuracy in any scale is nothing less, but most impressive!
The Imperial Patrol Trooper looks amazing with the paint apps and the speeder looks most realistic.
Another great addition to your collection! It's also great that you found a scan of the book to SOLO. I got this book used for 10 bucks and also sold it for that price, again. I think it's DK's most disappointing visual encyclopedia so far. So if you don't have it, you don't miss anything.
Thanks for sharing!

Speeder turned out really well, the paint job is magnificent!

TIE/rb heavy starfighter
The TIE/rb heavy starfighter, also known as the heavy TIE fighter, TIE brute or the Infiltrator was a variant of the TIE line starfighters used by the Galactic Empire, distinguished by its extra pod housing more powerful laser cannons.
[wookieepedia: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/TIE/rb_heavy_starfighter]
Here is what I used for the custom:
- Revell easykit TIE Fighter scale 1:110: https://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-episode-iv-vi/tie-fighter-model-kit.html
- ball knob with a diameter of 20mm and plastic rods for the pivoting laser turret
- 1/35 scale Browning M2 machine guns for the laser cannons
- cardboard and plastic sheets for the additional armor
- Bandai TIE striker cockpit window (the window on the TIE brute is smaller than on a normal TIE fighter
- Revell pigments for the weathering
- beech wood and wire for the display stand
This was a pretty time-consuming custom project. The additional armor was quiet difficult to make.
The laser turret is pivotable 360°.
I hope you like it.

I’m happy you found time for the hobby, again!
Excellent work!

Daggone that just looks tough! I like it a lot.

FF - The TIE heavy fighter turned out brilliantly! Your design for the additional turret is engineered really well, it totally looks worth the effort.

Man, I am really liking that new TIE fighter. It looks awesome!

Flawless research and production is no surprise here. ILM quality looks
Holy cow!

Superb TIE Fighter! Excellent execution!

This is a really credible piece of Imperial hardware and a really excellent piece of custom work. I’d love something like this in my collection.

Millennium Falcon
Not really a custom and nothing special. I added weathering to my Revell (1:241 scale) Millennium Falcon.
I used my hand drill and a hobby knife to add some battle damage. I painted the missing yellow markings with a Tamiya paint.
For the weathering I used Revell pigments (black and rust) and a black wash.

Don't know what I find more exciting: your latest project or you sharing it on here! So good to see you got back to customizing! The master is back at the desk. Considering the scale of this falcon (and also the reduced detail on Revell's EasyKit/low budget models) I think you made this look as good as i possibly can. Like Tamer said, the weathering makes the difference and the pigments really highlight the details that are there.
Those black dots remind me of the tar stains I constantly collect on the front of my car.
Man, I'm so glad to see you back around and hope you keep the momentum going 0/

TIE crawler
The TIE crawler, or century tank, was a model of tank that resembled a TIE starfighter cockpit suspended between two tank treads. It was used to climb tall hill of debris.
[wookieepedia: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/TIE_crawler]
Here is my first 3D printed Star Wars model kit. I used a Formlabs 3D sinter powder printer. The printed cockpit was not very detailed so I decided to use a Revell TIE Interceptor cockpit instead. The model was painted with Revell and Tamiya paints.
I hope you like it.

I think it turned out great. Thanks for sharing it.

That's really cool! Did you design the file for printing yourself? If so...amazingly done. If not...still really cool! Nice job with the paint scheme. I agree with Tamer, the Revell T.I.E. cockpit was a great idea.
-
This is fantastic!
-
It would be cool to see this come out in one of the TV Series or see Hasbro make it in 3.75"
-
I think your TIE Crawler is a milestone for the way you enjoy your hobby. I really like the fact that the treads look worn a bit. The weathering adds to the effect, but also the minor detail at that scale is actually a win in my book! 3D printing opens so many new possibilities and I'm looking forward to seeing what you else you do with it.
Endless power to you because your creativity is amazing! Your latest project crawls to new shores of countless possibilities! I always enjoyed playing Empire at War with TIE Maulers and wish TIE Crawlers were included as well. You captured its design really well. Much respect for creating this STL file from scratch!
