Title: embeding videos
Post by: spudafett on September 20, 2009, 11:13:02 AM
I know that most forums have a tag you can activate for youtube.  Basically it's Not a valid %s URL.  I've tried it here and it doesn't work.  I'd love to be able to embed my youtube videos instead of having people have to navigate away from the shipyards to see them.  I know several other members have videos as well, it'd be easier to put vids on the fp too

is there anyway to activate that particular forum code?

We will look into what the forum software allows us to do.

Basically a YouTube Video uses html coding for its embed links. The forums uses BBC coding for its language. Supposedly it is possible to embed videos directly here since we got a new forums upgrade last summer. I will look into it.

Shawn,  look for  Ohara YouTube Embed on the SMF mod site.  It will add a button to the reply section

Wayne, we could do that or simply allow html coding which is another option, but we go back to the problem of forum page load times, especially those with limited internet speeds. We may try it in the future to see if anything crashes or the forums start loading weird, but if it ain't broke don't fix it!
