Title: The Vintage Collection 2010 Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues)
Post by: FialaFernbrugg on July 10, 2010, 10:49:20 AM
Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues)

"Luke Skywalker arrived at Cloud City and, with blaster drawn, moved in to rescue his friends. He was shot at by Boba Fett and ambushed by a group of stormtroopers and Imperial officers. While attempting to pursue them, Skywalker's path was diverted to the carbon-freeze chamber where Darth Vader awaited him." (wookieepedia)

The figure:
It is an all new figure. The detailing and also the articulation is just phenomenal. The weathering on his suit is very good and the face sculpt is absolutely screen (Mark Hamill) accurate.

The accessories:
Luke comes with a blaster pistol, a lightsaber and also with a lightsaber hilt which is attachable to his belt. He has also a working holster on his belt.

The articulation:
*ball-jointed neck
*ball-hinged shoulders
*ball-hinged elbows
*swivel wrists
*ball-jointed waist
*ball-hinged hips!!!!
*ball-hinged knees
*ball-hinged ankles

It doesn't get any better than this. The articulation is flawless and I hope we will see a lot of other figures with ball- hinged hips in the future.

The rating:
It's a absolutely fantastic figure with great articulation and detailing. I can't find a drawback on this figure so if you see Luke in your toystore pick him up.

10/10

Sweet review. This sounds like another nice job for Hasbro. Perhaps they are really trying to give us some nice figures inside thier pretty packaging. This is now on our fp and in our review archives. Thanks Christoph.

YES! I got this one yesterday ay Target and am blown away by the quality of this figure. If hasbro can do this great of a job on one figure how can they miss so bad on another? For me this may be the figure of the year.

Great review.

My two cents:  This updated version is a vast improvement over the last abomination passing itself off as Bespin Luke.  All the same, although so much is very, very right with this figure, I was a bit let down that he's still too tall--IMO.  Also, the "ball jointed" hips aren't executed quite as well as I had hoped.  Plus, and maybe this is just my sample, his torso pops off from his waist awfully easily.  Anybody else seeing this on theirs?

Even with my complaints, he's still my favorite of this wave and I have no regrets purchasing him.

can anyone confirm to me that they are ACTUAL ball jointed hips and not the standard swivel/peg style hips that we've been seeing in figures like the arf trooper and pre-visla?

I was hoping this figure had hips more in tune with what is being used on the marvel figures and/or the joes.

has anyone dismantled this figure yet?

These are not the ball jointed hips you're looking for.

I buy a few joes and marvel figures here and there and these joints are definitely NOT of that type.

Probably the swivel/peg style you are referring to.  The design seems to use the same concept as the shoulders except the peg extends at an angle rather than straight out like on the shoulders.  Also  the "disc" which gives the lateral movement can be seen on the outer hip and looks out of place when not positioned in the neutral position--kind of like the last Death Star II Luke's shoulders were.   Lastly, because of the angled position of the post, you don't get much in the way of true forward and backward movement of the hips--i.e. forward ends up being forward and out at an angle.
