Welcome, KRI. I'm Dan, or USD. Nice to meet you.
-
That teaser was interesting. It looks as though the comic will be even better.
-
Welcome KRI, to the shipyards! I'm Clint and your teaser photo looks pretty cool.
Make yourself comfortable and look around the site. There are slot of cool customs to be found here.
-
Thanks USD and Clonehead, I will be spending some time looking around here for sure. Looks like Vanishing Point will be ready for posting by tomorrow (Fri Aug. 28th). Just doing a few last touches.

wecome to the shipyards, can't wait to see more pics of those customs.
that ahsoka in the black jumpsuit looks killer...
what fig is the chick on the left? is that a padme animated repainted? I NEED to know! ;D
-
Welcome to the yard!
-
That's a nice camoflauged ARF Trooper custom you have on the cover. Great job!
-
hi KRI welcome to the yards :)
-
Hey, that is a cool camo ARF trooper on your cover. I didnt see it at first, Kessel. I put your cover on the front page.
-

That is an animated Padmé with a lot of sanding especially around the shoulder pads. If you go to the page with the preview teaser on it and scroll down there are pics of my customs, each one links to some additional pics.
Front page? Really? Thank you so much that is super cool!

awsome

I completly missed those! Nice custom cards on those astromechs!
-
wow, consider that padme design stolen, hope you don't mind ;)... I'll probably have to articulate her knees and ankles though. I hate that....
LOVE those carded astromechs. Custom cardbacks have been something I've always wanted to get into but never have because of cost/time. I also figure that the customs I sell on e-bay are to people who want to inspect the custom, semi-play and pose it for display... so a cardback would just get ruined anyway. and as for myself I want to keep my customs out of packaging so that I CAN play with and pose them for display! lol.
can't wait to see more!
-
Wow, what great artwork on those cards. Can't wait to see the comic too. Once again, welcome to the Yards.

lovin those carded astros

Heya, KRI! Good ta see ya posting over here!

I'd consider it a compliment. It would be cool to see someone else do this version of Padmé. Surly the toughest part on her was her top and shorts, which are made from two pieces of electrical tape stuck sticky sides together. The adhesive on the stuff is a mess if it gets on your figure, so I'm sure they could look really good just painted on too. No doubt that I could have done more varying shots with her if she had knees, ankles and elbows. What would be your process to add articulation?
-
Wow, I would have never guessed electrical tape.
Spud, I had some success in the past with custom carded figures on eBay . There are still some moc collectors out there. We have three or so here.
-
Make that four or so. A large percentage of my collection is moc, so my aim with the cared astros was just to make unique figures that could blend in with the other new ones hanging on my wall.
-
NEVER would have guessed that was electrical tape.... that makes me all of a sudden have hundreds of clothing ideas using duct tape and stuff too....
ok... I know everyone is thinking it so I'll ask... what is underneath the electrical tape? ;)
For adding articulation to something like this I usualy try to do a complete leg swap either with existing SW parts or a complete makeover using gi-joe parts.... BUT... there isn't realy anything that would match well with that padme fig's parts so what I'd probably do is cut the legs apart at the knees and ankles and splice in the peg and circle swivel joints that the star wars figs have. It's a complicated process and usually winds up having to be fixed with apoxi sculpt to make it look right. I don't know if I could pull it off on a figure with such tiny parts though.
that realy bugs me btw... why would they bother putting articulation in ahsoka, a figure SMALLER than padme, but leave it out on padme?
does the new "padme in adventure gear" have better articulation?
-
you could do the same with larger wiring heat shrink and it is not sticky.
you can get it at Radio Shack or auto parts stores and cut to the width you like and shrink in a pinch using a very hot blow dryer if you dont have a heat gun. Might take a while but it does work.
If you can find them, they are not too expensive and have many uses.

Cool deal, another momc collector. I don't feel so alone now!
As far as custom cards, I love em. Make me a good looking atat driver one and watch what happens!
