Title: Hasbro Redemption Qui-Gon Jinn and Eopie
Post by: Clonehead on October 13, 2009, 08:26:28 AM
I got my Qui-Gon Jinn and Eopie in the mail today and it's time for their review.
As a Hasbro redemption mail away figure, this set cost me 5 clone wars/bad/saga legends figure upcs and $6.99
This redemption offer is only available in the US and Canada. Sorry folks.

Packaged fairly well upon opening this set the first thing i seen was the great paint apps on the eopie beast figure. Also, it was bigger than I thought it was going to be.

The Eopie figure features a nice hard plastic body with matching hard plastic legs that have articulation at the upper joint where the legs meet the body only. Also, there is a joint in the neck which allows the beasts head to swivel on an axis from right to left. The reins are securely mounted but have a pivot point so that they can be displayed in the riding or pulling position. The baggage and saddle are molded on and the paint apps are nice and neat.

the Qui-gon Jinn figure as far as I can tell is a new sculpt and features a super arty body with a ball jointed waist and head. The head sculpt is nicely detailed and I love seeing the hair down with a hint of a braid in the back. Because of the hair, there are only so many positions you can pose his head in. The poncho is a soft goods cloth item which looks just right and is slightly sewed under the arm holes to keep it from flaring out too much. Under the poncho, Qui-gons mix of cloth and plastic soft goods at the waist is the perfect mix and something I would like to see more of in the future. Qui-gon's lightsaber has to have the most tight and precise paint apps of a lightsaber that I have ever seen.

It's a winner, folks! Hasbro has done very well with this one and I am glad to see such a great Qui-gon figure as I was a bit dissapointed with the one released when tpm came out.
If you haven't filled out and mailed in your redemption forms yet, you have until March 31 of next year to get it done.

"since I opened this at the top of the stairs which is my workstation, I had to snap a pic of Qui-gon leading Eopie past the boneyard of resin parts that I am working on"

Might order a few more for the SA bodies.

Cant wait to get mine.
And I think I have about 7 more certificates worth of UPCs.
How many can one person order?
They used to limit you to one per person per household back in the day.

I didnt see a limit on the form. It does ask if you are a parent or collector.

I got two of these in the mail today, by the way.

Did we ever get any real guidance on what upc's will work for the redemption?

we did indeed, Doc. Any clone wars, bad, or saga legends single figure UPC from this year or last years lines will work.
I don't know about the clone wars two packs but I might try em and see.

*rubs hands together gleefully*

Not that I kept much in the way of pkging over the last year - I keep cards, not UPCs, silly me - but I have a few.  Plus there's always more fig's I need to buy for BAD parts...

Clonehead, what's the copyright date imprinted on the eopie's foot?

Is he just a simple re-paint or some sort of new sculpt involved.

1999 I guess that means he is a repaint, huh?

they did make quite a big deal about this at comicon for it being a repainted beast released 10 years ago. Did anyone get the original. Surely the qui-gon isnt the same one released back then.

by the way, I sent off another redemption for this, today.

The QuiGon is a rework making him SA but the eopie is a straight repaint.
I had both 10 years ago, and didnt like them... so I blew them up on New Years in Germany.

I'm going to be getting one of these, but I need to get the UPCs first.  I only have 2 so far.  It looks rather nice!

Does it have SA kenobi's body or am I imagining that?

Hasbro always cheaps out and uses repaints, we all know that, :(

Anyone else notice they own the toy aisle these days?  Shouldn't we split them up like the bell?

anyway,

I sent off for one of these, mostly just to get a qui gon in my collection, I was late to the game and never got one, lol.

yeah it is BUT it's the first time American buyers have a non-ebay crack at getting one.

it was released in Europe in 1999 and was supposed to be released in the US but it never happened so Eopies were elusive till now.

I'll order one sometime soon

at least it did get released overseas, it DID make it out somwhere.   See, there was something called a "skeeto" in the release queue back then too but it was cancelled altogether.

yes it was and "off screen concept" like a giant mosquito and padawan Obi-Wan to ride it would have been included... instead it got the ax and nobody complained.   :)   no, it wasn't same big bug as that crappy Can-Cell thing either.  LOL

The one I destroyed was bought in Germany at the time of the movies release.
The Qui Gon fig was bad by todays standards, but far better than the POTF style followed by most early PTM figs.
The eopie was nice enough for an animal fig I didnt like.
Hoping to send in for a few of these this week.
At least one for me and for my son.
