Wow, what a neat trick carving the armor details in. I would like to see you try that with the arms and legs on something too. Neat idea.

I  keep looking at that dome and the facebook picture I put up of this looks outstanding. I wonder what it might look like if the curved part of the dome was cut down a bit? I think the face part of the helmet is probably as good as it will get to cover the face. I know there is always a fine balance with faces and what helmets will fit over them too. We ought to podcast about that sometime. Hey Devin, when you gonna podcast with us too!?

I trimmed down the helmet some, as it had a fin on it before.  I'm not sure i can trim it any more :(.   I'm thinking about switching the figure's heads to another female head and finding a smaller helmet.

as for the pod-cast, It'll need to be before the end of april, as I'm heading out to wyoming then and it'll be more dificult to arrange something.

Rebel Commando pilot (page 17)
« Reply #245 on: March 17, 2012, 09:50:14 PM »
This started as a simple super articulation experiment with the "deleted scenes" mon calamari pilot...

so I super articulated him:

You can see the height difference between standard joe and star wars figure here:

that's partially due to the way I modified the legs, but also I think the large head and helmet don't help...

but after I got the figure articulated I thought the flight suit might look good painted up into a jungle camo style so I tried it out, and I really like the result:

He looks very good, Spud!  Who says they all have to be the same height anyway?

I'm loving the mods to the Mon Cal pilot!  The jungle camo looks better every time I view it; nice choice there.

I was also looking over your female Mando/jungle sniper and realized how awesome it is that you engraved the chest armor from the Scarlett fig.  That is phenomenal work!

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

Great looking figure and the height does not bother me one bit. I try to have my figures different heights based on the size of the character. I would say a Mon Cal could easily be this tall, as you said with that large head and helmet.

I like it spud, not sure about the camo, but I like the figure and how it comes together.

I like the camo, Spud. It does look good on that figure. Yep, I don't see any reason this figure couldn't be taller, unless it hindered his fitting in a cockpit, I guess.

That might be the issue...  I've got a modified y-wing I had been planning on trying to make into a two seater, but I'm thinking now of re-painting it into a camo style bomber.  But I'm not sure if that's what I'll wind up doing or not...
