My first custom was...
« on: February 08, 2011, 06:58:34 PM »
Hey everyone, ive talked to a few people and they all think its a good idea. So the purpose of this thread is to show us your first custom or the earliest custom you have pictures of. Just for a bit of fun, see how our favourite customizers have grown and give us all a reason to hunt down our 1st one.

So post away, ill post mine up tonight.
Thanks Rusty.

These were not my first customs but were the first that I ever submitted online.  They were first posted on FFURG in maybe 1999 or so, I can't remember exactly it may have been earlier.

Admiral Ozzel :

This was also my first "sale" as someone contacted me asking to buy it.  I told them it wasn't for sale but to send me the parts and I'll put it together for them and send it out.

Not too long after I submitted it, someone from FFURG, maybe Dan Curto, contacted me and asked if it was OK to use the custom on a FFURG banner which I agreed to, of course.  Here is the banner...

Both of those turned out nice looking, Psyclone.

I think that these must have been my first customs. Added paint apps to rots clone troopers including a shock trooper and a green clone commander before hasbro released them. Yes Devin, I believe that is enamel paint. I painted these up and put em in an ebay auction, possibly with that gunship, I don't remember. This was before I belonged to any custom site, possibly 6-7 years ago. what year did rots come out?

Great idea Rusty. I am going to get this front page featured now.

UPDATE: I for one just don't customize, but if I may, I would love to share my thoughts when I first saw some customs. I was blown away by the sheer additions and paint jobs that I saw. I can remember seeing some of Clonehead's customs and saying I just had to have one of these. The skill and precision is just awe inspiring. It is probably a mushy thing to say, but I do get so proud of seeing the progress the folks here seem to show on an hourly basis. You guys are the reason I am still into star wars and so proudly try to promote your work when and where I can.

"black opps boba"  complete with enamel paint job that didn't last...

I'd count that as the first custom that realy got me into the hobby.  I had done plenty of parts-swaps and I had done plenty of plastic models in the past but this was the first extensive re-paint and customization that I ever realy did.  from there of course I've improved a ton (mainly on construction and sculpting more than I have on painting! lol).

I repainted a Hasbro defect and gave her a custom Jedi starship.  It was a package deal.

Its crazy how much you can improve from only a few months, I think ive been at it 9months now and I look at my paint jobs and part selection on customs like Malak and Vos and its leaps and bounds in such a short time. Its crazy the progress you can make if you stick at it.
