Simple question,
My favorite Mando is Ordo Skirata; seems like a kindred spirit, in the novels it was great character development, a close second is Kal Skirata.
-
Thats the first time I have seen that helmet less pic of Ordo.
As for my favorite Mando I just can't pick yet. I will think on it. Daggone good question though. I would love to see one decked out in cold environment beskargam, yeah I know I spelled that wrong, but I ain't a speller, lol. Sometimes I can associate a lot with Dar. Sometimes I feel like I am the last to know something important and usually get hit over the head with it, but I deal with it and move on as life should if that makes any sense.

I think mine has to be Canderous Ordo. He was so much more raw and aggressive than Jango ever was, and more accomplished than Boba was (at least in the films, that is!).

I agree. My favorite is Ordo. A second for me is Prudii.

I have to say ordo. then I think mij gilmar. in the novels he's a tough and funny guy ;)
-
fenn shysa and well......jango or isabet reau
-
My favorite is meiril cause hes got a witty scence of humor.
-
Mine would have to be Fi Skiriata
-
my favorite was boba fett prior to the prequells, i understand that it really is george lucas' show but when he introduced boba as a clone of jango the magic went out of it for me.

Going over the whole lore of "mandos" (of course now trashed by Lucas), there are a lot of mandos I like.
1.Jango Fett
2.Venku Skirata
3.Walon Vau
4. Kal Skirata
5. Boba Fetta
6. Jaing Skirata

I'd have to say my favorite Mando would be Jaster Mereel because he took Jango as a son when his family was killed by the Death Watch.
-
I think my favorite Mando will be one like Iron Man. I want a Mando that has a different armor based on the differing combat environment he may get into.

That would be awesome Tamer.
-
I'm a little torn. I enjoy many but would have Mirta Gev at the top followed closely by Fenn Shysa, Mereel and Fi.
Even Ghez Hokan is a really cool, if very unlikable. Mandalorian. bbfet

While Boba Fett is high on my list, him being a Mando was something we were unaware of until the EU. My favourite Mandalorian has to be Mandalore the Indomitable, a character featured in the TotJ comics. That was the first time we really saw what the Mandalorians were capable of.

You got a point he is really amazing.

I'd have to say Boba, but if you think about it, he's not really a mandalorian. I mean, sure he wears the armor, but he never "actually" was a mandalorian. Was Jango one? In the clone wars episode it said he just stole the armor, but I think there was a comic where he was with a group of mandos? Correct me if I'm wrong, though. But, I know he does become a "Mando" later on in the Y Vong war, I think.

Well, to reference the Republic Commando books, which added a TON to Star Wars lore, Mandalorian refers not to a species, necessarily, but to a way of life. There ARE a species of humans who are Mandalorian, but they way they adopt others allows for anyone of any species to be mandalorian. Jango was Concordian, of Concord Dawn. Boba was a clone of Jango, born on Kamino, but would still retain Jango's genes. Kal Skirata was born on Kuat.

pats got a point ! ;D

I think it has more to do with a conscious decision to follow a set of beliefs.... a way of life if you will.... more than being born someplace with a set of genomes or genes.
Being born somwhere can make you a citizen or member of a culture, but that doesnt make you a "true believer"... a blind follower...
We are a compilation of our experiences... both learned first hand and through a secondary means like books or word of mouth... but we are not guaranteed to be what others before us were.
You choose a religion, you choose a hair style, you choose your own lifestyle.... but you choose these things of your own free will. Not because it is all you know or have experienced or have been "programmed" to believe to be normal.
My parents were both "flower children".... but I am no hippy myself.
The belief or feeling of belonging... being a part of something bigger than yourself... that can be a huge influence on choices and decisions.
What you choose today will not always be what you will choose tomorrow.
The clones trained by Mandalorians became Mandos, Corellians gained Correllian beliefs, and so on. But these were learned beliefs formed in a very closed society. Not much choice there.
And how many clones exactly did they say chose to leave or go awol or whatever you want to call it? Less than one percent... millions of clones and they chose to stay with what they knew.
But once given a taste of freedom and a few choices and being allowed to make their own decisions, the result was drasticly different although they chose to stay together.
It is a choice to live a certain way... a following of beliefs... Not genetics or place of birth.
Boba Fett is Mandalorian by upbringing and belief, If not by action. Not a communal person, selfish and self centered, I before all else. Not a truly Mandalorian way of thinking or behaving. But then Jango was not your archtypical Mandalorian either. A loner (Boba)was raised by a loner Jango). Both chose to be Mandalore when confronted with a crisis, to benefit their culture and ensure the survival of their culture.
If that does not make them Mandalorian, then nothing does. And they were both Mandalorian when it could be a death sentence to be so.... I guess that helped them become the efficient killers they were and to achieve and maintain the level fear their names would result in.
End of rant... for now.

When I first replied to this, it was before I read the RC novels. Now that I have, I would have to say that Kal Skirata is my favorite, with Walon Vau close behind, followed by Ordo.

Pre prequel Boba. Hands down. Back when he was a gravelly voiced, spurs-wearing, BAMFer who took on and teamed up with Vader more than once. The comics did a bang-up job of really fleshing him out and giving him some awesome adventures. A major favorite being Twin Engines of Destruction where he sticks it to Jodo Kast. He's the original. As I like to say he's the Wolverine of the Star Wars Universe. A one-man army who faces any and every kind of danger, cheats death, and walks away on top. He's got the Solo rivalry, all the other prominent hunters after him, the mystery, the legends and ghost stories, the gadgets, the ship, and no one knew what he looked like or who he really was. The galaxy wasn't over run by Mandos, and Fett was a VIP wherever he went. He was just as deadly unarmed and unarmored as he was fully suited up. That's how Star Wars was supposed to be. He was never a whiny little brat who stole his father's shtick and who was the same guy as the millions of troops the republic churned out. In that continuity everyone would know who he was and they'd have killed him long ago. Besides his father never even got to train him. As Harry Osborne knows, the gear does not maketh the man. He tried to fill his father's Goblin boots but couldn't hold a candle to old Norman.
Old School Boba Fett. Like Chewie it would take something like an entire planet falling on him to kill him.
