I have been meaning to gO looking for these. How does the quality and detail compare to the toybiz figures from the lotr line?

Well... I haven't opened them up yet, but they look about as good as the Hasbro products. I don't think they are quite as good as the old 6" LOTR figures, but they still look good for 3 3/4" figures.

I think they must have tweeked the story a bit because he's such a popular character.
