PG 1: Darth Sion | T3M4 | Female Light Side Revan
PG 2: Mara Jade | Visas Marr | Bao Dur
PG 3: Mira | Carth Onasi
PG 4: First Order AT-AT Forest Gunner | Darth Nihilus
PG 5: Jolee Bindo | Canderous Ordo | Atton Rand | G0-T0 | Jyn Erso
PG 5: TFA Rebel Pilots
First custom, KOTOR II Darth Sion made of 3 Anakins.
Recipe:
Torso, left arm & legs: Tartakovsky Clone Wars Anakin
Right arm: ROTS "slashing action" Anakin
Head: Battle Damage ROTS Anakin.
Boil & popped everything apart and cut the lower right arm out of the ball joint hoop. Drilled out the new arm to the size of a spare yoda cane I had laying around, and built a new bar to thread through the hoop.
Glued the new bar in place from the outside, scored up the body with dental tools, painted the large sections and reassembled. Rolled out thin sheets of green stuff and cut them into the loin cloth sections. Cut a chunk out of the belt in the back to allow room for the loin cloth sections to be glued underneath.
Did some shaky detail painting (I didn't like the way actually painting the cracks looked, so I did some black and red drybrushing to catch on the scoring and went for a little more of an impressionistic look than literal), and here we are!
Not 100% pleased with my small-scale painting, but hopefully that will eventually improve. Thoughts?

Nice job man! Keep up the good work ;)
-
You can read my thoughts on the front pages.
Fantastic work for a first custom. Fantastic!
-
Thanks guys, I appreciate it!
-
Great job with Darth Sion. Glad to have you aboard.
-
Awesome! He looks cool. The loincloth is great. I like the detail work, I need to pick up some dental tools.
-
They're actually cheaper than I expected. I picked up a set of 12 on Amazon for something like $8
-
Here's another KOTOR build I've finally finished. I wanted to try my hand at T3-M4 because I haven't seen many of them.

Mostly made of a hacked up R4-P17 and some scratchbuilding from an old model kit, with a little bit of a pit droid and a couple missiles from the new R2 figure. Cut down the dome and filled in the holes with green stuff, and used the pit droid ball joint for the head articulation. Most of what I did is pretty self-explanatory from the photos, I think. Finished product below:

Sorry for the photo-heavy post!

Looks nice to me and we like pic heavy posts here!
Off to share your latest on our front pages.
-
Looks great! Nice wip shots too. I may try one of these
-
Thanks guys, I had a lot of fun with this one
-
Cool! I really like seeing custom droids.
-
Great job on T3-M4 !
-
I wanted to give Revan a shot the way I played KOTOR before I learned (ex) canon because I haven't seen one yet: female and light side. I've never personally been a fan of cloth on 3.75" so I went with all plastics for the fabrics.
Recipe:
Head: Custom sculpt with greenstuff
Torso, arms and hips: Deena Shan (rebellion legacy comic book collection)
Legs, feet, hands, hood and cape: Barriss Offee (VC)
Skirt: Princess Leia (POTF2 ceremonial gown)
Sabers: Saesee Tiin (POTJ)
Skirt decoration is greenstuff and a piece of a pen. For the most part, the pieces fit together pretty well on their own. I had to shave down the inside of the hood, the shoulders and side of the cloak, the belt on the skirt, and the collar and neck on the torso, but otherwise, it was mostly just boil & pop and paint white and brown with a gold wash over the metal brown parts. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, through I may have done the mask a little differently if I tried it again. The Hasbro version of the mask looks wrong to me, but this isn't quite right either.

Wow, she looks gorgeous. Great work and thanks for sharing your process and recipe. Off to share on the pages.
-
Very nice! It reminds me of a type of knight.
-
Thanks guys! I'm having fun with these KOTOR builds, might take me a while but I think I'm going to try my hand at the whole cast.
-
That's an incredible custom! The sculpting is really well done, the color scheme works well. Great job, keep up the brilliant work.
-
Here's a quick one I did. I've seen a lot of updates on the bad 80s hair Mara Jade, and found this cast head on ebay that looked pretty good to me. Not sure what the source is, but the ears were pointy before I shaved them down.
The cape is made from an Anakin cloak that I trimmed down, wrapped around the figure and melted together in front around the neck. I wasn't sure how it would work out but I'm pretty happy with it overall. I would have preferred a smaller hilt, but This was the only violet saber I had available.

Excellent work! Your scratch-building is topnotch! I've seen a few KOTOR Astromechs and that one is pretty spot on!

Excellent work! Your scratch-building is topnotch! I've seen a few KOTOR Astromechs and that one is pretty spot on!
Thank you! I'm particularly proud of that one. I was pretty surprised to find out they never made a KOTOR style astromech with how many dozens of variations they did with the more recent models.
-
Here's another KOTOR2 I've finished: Visas Marr. Pretty straightforward build on this one: entirely reworked from the Padme Peasant Disguise VC figure with a slice cut out of the skirt, and some greenstuff sculpting for the veil and the belt. The saber is made from an unlit hilt accessory drilled out to accept a filed down missile from the new TFA Unkar's Thug pack. Pretty pleased with her overall, just need to finish working out a Nihilus to pair her with.

Nice job on Visas Marr - the green stuff work is really excellent. Mara Jade looks good as well.
-
Very nice. Looking forward to seeing your Nihilus too. Off to share.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it!

Been kind of held up by the big move lately, but one I finished just before I left in the KOTOR line: Bao Dur. First time using a GI Joe Base, I thought it worked well because he always struck me as a taller character. Tunnel Rat body and legs, Darth Maul head (I had a hell of a time finding a ball-joint Maul head and ended up drilling out a swivel head instead, it actually worked out better than expected). The energy arm was made from a bunch of clippings of an emperor lightning-effect hand glued directly into a random cup-shaped piece of plastic that I drilled out into a proper joint. Genuinely had a hard time with adhesive because I was mixing light-colored soft rubber with hard plastic darker pieces for dynamic effect, but I like how it turned out in the end.

He sure looks good on the front page.
-
Awesome figure, really captures the character well!
-
Thanks guys!
-
Oh, and I posted in the Wanted section, but if anyone has a line on a Jedi training remote/sensor droid like the one that comes with TVC Young Anakin, please let me know!
-
Visas marr and bao dur look phinomenal. Great work

thanks! much appreciated

here's my next KOTOR custom, Mira. body is Aurra Sing, legs are Juno Eclipse, arms are Barriss Offee. I carved into the body to leave the top, and built the dart attachment to the arm out of greenstuff, finished off with an ebay cast head of Jubilee. I've been tinkering with this one for a while, and I'm pretty happy with the end result.

Loving these! Bao-Dur and Visas Marr are my favorites!
Keep up the good work!
-
She looks good on the front pages.
-
That's amazing! Always good to see cool KOTOR figures, still one of my favorite games and Star Wars stories of all time! Keep up the great work, always a treat to see your figures!
-
Awesome Mira, the part selection is brilliant, and came together beautifully. That Bao-Dur is very well done as well, love the KOTOR customs.
-
Thanks guys!
-
Excellent job!
-
Looks really good! Another great character to add into the figure universe.
-
Obviously continuing with my quest to complete my KOTOR cast, here's Carth Onasi:
Pretty straightforward build on this one. Mostly a repaint of the 30th Anniversary Yavin Luke, with the head of a TVC Naboo Royal Guard and a little greenstuff sculpting for the hair.

Great looking Mira and Carth figures!

Looks good, off to share in all the right places.
-
Nice job on Carth. The additional sculpting looks good.
-
Thanks everyone!

Copy of entry in the contest thread so I can find it later:
OK I think I'm done with this guy. I decided to take a slightly different route with mine, and build a 14-point POA First Order AT-AT Forest Gunner. In the new first order, AT-AT door gunners have taken on the expanded role of commanding incursion troops once the heavy vehicles have cleared a path. Accompanied by his tactical and communications droid, BB-6C, the First Order Forest Gunner is a formidable opponent to the resistance.
Hope you guys like it, he came out pretty much exactly as I hoped he would!

and a couple bonus process shots:

All used parts
(http://www.jkgd.net/pics/atat6.jpg)
Dry run fitting parts together before painting and gluing.
Recipe:
Head, belt and upper torso: First Order Stormtrooper (black series)
Upper arms, legs, harness and lower torso: AT-AT Driver (TVC)
Lower arms, Lower legs: Imperial Evo Trooper (30th Anniv)
Chest box: First Order Tie Pilot
Helmet: parts of AT-TE gunner helmet and a Jek Porkins POTF2 helmet
Gun: random Gundam accessory.
-
Awesome FO gunner! I like the use of parts and paint apps. That gun is killer.
-
Great job! :) Really like the choice of parts you used, they work together really well. And I can only agree regarding the gun... ;)
-
Your Gunner looks fantastic. I used it on the front page today.
-
Thanks everyone, I appreciate it!
-
Great job with this gunner. The use of the EVO trooper body parts is a great idea and I love the paint job, especially on BB.

Thank you!

And here's the Nihilus to go with my Visas Marr. I usually prefer a lot more articulation than this, but I liked Kylo's sculpt a lot for him, and if there was ever a character that could stand to be represented without much movement, it;s Nihilus.
Recipe: Kylo Ren's TFA body, Nihilus's Evolutions hood, a resin cast of Nihilus's head, and the cape from Asajj Ventress. Saber is Ren's with the crossguard cut off and the hilt repainted.

Nice job on Nihilus. I think you're right, the Ren body works well as a base. He looks great.
-
You did great job on Nihilus !
-
More comments on the front page and I agree that Ren body is perfect for Nihilus!
-
thanks everyone! I appreciate the comments!
-
Back to the KOTOR figure work, here's Jolee Bindo. Mostly a reworked Mace Windu figure with the skirt trimmed, and the torso fabric creases filled in with greenstuff, repainted with arms from a TVC Naboo Royal Guard and a Stass Allie saber. Not the most complex I've done, but he fits in well with the rest of my KOTOR customs!
And here's Canderous Ordo. He's got the Royal Naboo Guard legs and torso (ribs filled in with greenstuff), a TVC AT-AT driver head with the sideburns shaved off, Talon Karrde's arms, Han Solo's vest and an Evo Trooper's gun.
Thanks to everyone for all the comments on my previous figures, the feedback is really appreciated! I'm finally starting to get closer to rounding out the KOTOR set. (On that note, if anyone has a spare GI Joe Mouse head laying around, I'd love to buy it from you!)
-
Looks great. Off to share.
-
Jolee is great! The face sculpt is fantastic!
-
Cool bunch of customs! Its amazing how something like a shaving sideburns makes a completely different looking headsculpt. If you hadn't told me I'd never know. That's the toughy, creating new looking heads. Well done.
-
Thanks guys!

I was pretty surprised too, a couple touches really go a long way, especially at this scale. I'm looking forward to finishing the set because together they look even better, I think. You kind of lose imperfections in all the extra information and it helps with the context.
-
Here's Atton Rand and a quick G0-T0 from KOTOR2. I've had Atton 90% finished for ages, but was having a hard time finding a head I liked. I'm pretty happy with the likeness, took me forever to find the right parts for his weird triple shoulder vest thing.
Atton recipe:
Talon Karrde torso, legs and jacket, with the torso reworked in greenstuff for the shirt flaps.
TVC Nikto arms
GI Joe Retaliation Mouse head
30th Anniversary AT-RT driver hands
G0-T0 is made from the POTF2 IT-O Interrogation droid, hacked apart, holes patched and flipped over with new, more minimal tools added to look more like the droid from the game.

Thanks Tamer! Believe it or not, it's just the camera on an iPhone 5. Some definitely come out better than others.

Cool Customs Jon_K
-
That's a pretty spot on headsculpt, with the reference picture. As the rest, great job.
-
I'm really enjoying the KOTOR figures a lot Jon. They are working really well. I particularly like Atton Rand and appreciate the recipe too. Thanks!
-
Thanks, everyone!

Starting to get pumped for Rogue One, so I thought I'd try my hand at Jyn Erso in both styles she's shown in the trailers. The first is in modified tie fighter gear shown at the end of the teaser trailer, and the second is the regular outfit from most of the shots. I just made one head for swapping between figures for consistency, I may eventually make a second, but no immediate plans.
Version 1 Recipe:
Mauler Mithel body, with the large flat area on the chest sanded down and the back patch filled with greenstuff and drilled out to accommodate the handles shown sticking out in the trailer. The handles are saber hilts. The head is a heavily modified Rey head, lots cut off, new hair sculpted with greenstuff, and repainted.
Version 2 Recipe:
This one was a ton of stuff hacked into one.
-Boots from a Jedi Legacy Luke Skywalker, pinned and glued to the lower legs and thighs of Infinities Jedi Leia.
-Hip piece from Stass Allie
-Chest from Juno Eclipse, with the neck carved out and replaced with Aayla Secura's
-Arms from Asajj Ventress (with greenstuff sleeves added)
-Vest modifed from Resistance Rey
-Holster from Aurra Sing
-Head modified from Jakku Rey

Thanks Tamer! I was surprised how much I liked that one too, when I started, that one was almost an afterthought that I ended up really enjoying.

She (both versions) turned out really well. Kudos! Nice job on the Rey head conversion particularly. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! I'm starting to realize a little additional sculpted hair can go a long way to changing the look of a head.

Excellent!
You did a great job on these figures.

they look great.

Nice looking Jyn Erso figures. They both turned out very cool. Good job on them both!
-
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the feedback!

I think these are wonderful, well done!

Here's a quick take on the rebel pilots from TFA. Everyone other than my stock black series Poe is still 5POA, but I've added Jess Pava and gave them some helmetless heads. Nothing too fancy, but I like the way they all look together.
Thanks to I Am Boba Fett for the great Abednedo head! (Snap is an old Luke head I had around, and Jess is a cast from another ebay retailer.)

You did a good job on these ! I like the photo of the pilots without the helmets !
-
Nice job on these! It really fills out the roster of pilots. I wish Hasbro was producing more figures from the movie.
-
They look good to me. Off to share.
-
Hey these are great, and Asty looks awesome! If this was Hasbro from a few years ago I'm sure we would see these pilots made. Sadly I don't think that's the case anymore. That's where us customizers come in.
Great job!
-
Thanks everyone!
-
I've always been fascinated by the OT X-Wing pilots and that proved true for their TFA counterparts as well. These are excellent.
I have few nitpicks of TFA but here's one: Okay, in the movie, did it annoy anyone else that Nunb only wore the huge pilot helmet but he didn't wear the orange flightsuit for the Starkiller Base mission? Just leaving him in the blue vest and red coverall struck me as either a lazy decision or it was pandering like we might not understand it was Endor hero Nunb if he was in the orange pilot gear instead.

Yes! If I was able to to come up with a good helmet for him, I was going to swap his head onto another Asty body because him not matching irritated me a lot!
