I've reviewed the latest in the "Militaries of Star Wars" collection from Sideshow Collectibles! The YouTube video of it is...
And here are a few images to whet your appetite!

It seems like a cool figure but not so sure on the face and suit. The face looks somehow cartoonish (I was really afraid of that happening), maybe a repaint will help, and the suit needs a bit of futzing and then will look great.
PS. I think we should have a section for Master Replicas/eFX or props & replica review section too.

I loved the Thrawn video. Nice job Pat.
Serg, are you talking about adding those sections for forum reviews?

That would be kind of cool I think...

We can do that, MR has a ton of great items and a wide variety of types.
As for the Thrawn, I really like this one, I was on the fence about ordering it with the chair, I passed, but seeing the figure, I wish I didn't

I'm waiting ;) If it takes too long I'll pass.

Sideshow has done some decent things in their 12" lines but I can't see this figure as being one of their better efforts. This would be an okay $20 figure at best. Maybe I've just seen one too many Hot Toys 12" figures. :-\

This is one I'll have to disagree on. While simplistic in design overall, the look of this thing is unbelievable. He's easily one of my favorites, period. I can't even pinpoint what specifically is standing out for me the most, I just know I love showing it off! Still, I DO miss that $60 price point they used to be!

It could be my jaded view of Sideshow's 12" "humanoid" figures in general. And due to that, I might not be giving this figure its due props. There have been exceptions but I usually regard SS's headsculpts as having melons too big for their bodies. Historically, it's been noted that headsculpts were sculpted that way to account for the thicker fabrics needed to produce the outfits--thus attempting to get a better overall scale. The thing is, the fabrics most companies seem to be using these days are more convincing for one sixth scale making the balloon heads unnecessary.
And it might be that I just didn't think of Thrawn as looking this way when I first read "Heir to the Empire".

That's fair enough. Thrawn's head does look longer than most, but that is the way the Chiss bodies are supposed to look. And there are some that definitely look out of proportion.
