Hi Wraithnine here with another review ,this time round its the revision of the 2012 Capt Rex.
Apparently Hasbro have announced that this last wave (cos the Dimwits have cancelled TCW) is to be a European exclusive thus annoying every American TCW collector in the universe.
first up the packaging ,now i actually like the Yoda line look as its very fresh and colourful.
Front:

Rear:

the figure itself has nice clean armour gone is the dirty grey plastic they have also revised the paintwork unfortunatly not for the better ,which i will explain later .

the figures comes with 2 DC-17 blaster pistols and a brand new Z-6 rotary cannon which contrary to the packaging blurb does not "spin"
yes it rotates and its quite stiff but it has to be turned by hand still its a massive improvement over the previous incarnation, and some fighterpods crap.
heres a pic to compare the 2:

a big difference as you can see.
now on to the figure ,Rex's armour is nice and clean and as i have said they have revised the paintwork the blue used is of a lighter shade than before and the striping is much narrower as well ,and the annoying thing is that the tally marks on his forearms have gone.
Also the chin piece and circular vents have been painted a very light grey and not black as they should be (something i swiftly rectified)
also the "weld" line on the torso is way too wavey(me just being picky)
see some comparison pics:

The articulation is as follows :
Ball jointed head
Ball jointed shoulders
Ball jointed elbows
No articulation in the wrists
Swivel waist
Ball jointed..Knees
(http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii493/wraithnine/IMAG1285_zps30c0b55f.jpg)
yes he has knees!(hooray)
No ankle articulation
on balance an excellent figure only let down by a couple of minor flaws.

Excellent review,a shame that this has to be the 2nd time round and still not a 10/10 but then the CW line is being canned after 2013 so Hasbro likely not wanting to put too much effort in.
-
Excellent review, Jay! too bad about the hash marks but the new cannon is cool. Is it the older version that has the paint apps in the box shape on the back and not the newer version?
I know you guys across the pond have been given the short end of the stick in the past with distribution but what a strange play by Hasbro by not offering it here in the states, not like we would see them at retail anyway. Too much peg space being taken by tvc episode 1. Thank goodness Target clearanced theirs off. Too bad Walmart can't grow a brain and follow suit.
Off to the front page.

Jay, it is great to see a SW Review. You have given him a very thorough work over. I will get a button made for the front page.
Looks like you might be our only hope for SW Reviews as who knows when anything new will hit our pegs.

I managed to pick up two Euro Rexes and one Euro armored Savage Opress at the local Rossmann today.
The cool thing is that Rossmann carries the new Euro figures, the TVC series and the Movie Heroes series. TVC is sold at 9,99 EUR and the other two series at 7,99 EUR per figure.
WAAAAAAY below TRU and other retailers.

I share with you...

I would ask but it seems pointless, Volker.

I am hearing this wave is in North America (Canada for the most part). Looks like ebay might be folks best bet if they want this last wave of TCW.

This reveiw is great! I really want that gun! The figure is at least a step up from the last rex!

Nice review, it's a shame I'll never see this wave in the wild, but I still haven't seen the first Phase II armor Rex and his wave in the wild hahaha. Oh well, Rex was probably the only figure from the wave I'd pick up, maybe the Obi and Anakin for the novelty of having them. This Rex looks like the one I'll have to track down though, I love the sculpt, but not a fan of the massive helmet. The new rotating gun is very cool, that was a selling point for me when I first learned about this figure.
