Custom, from scratch, mando costume helmets
« on: January 27, 2012, 01:44:27 AM »
Would anyone be interested in custom made, from scratch, 1:1 wearable mandalorian helmets?

I am starting a project soon to construct myself a new mando helmet like the one that I've done before...

But I was going to see if there would be any interest in people buying one?

If you were to buy one, how much would you be willing to pay for one?

They would be full sized helmets so shipping might cost a pretty penny...  that's the only downside...

I am also wondering what style mando helmets people would be interested in.  IE:  Traditional boba/jango?, or  modified range finders?  Extreme enviroment gear?  Flight/pilot gear (hoses/etc)?  Visored helmet?  variation on the T?

Shoot me some ideas... answer the poll if you'd be interested in buying one...

Hey Spuda, curious as to what you use for these. I was looking at your photos a while back thinking you might have used one of the latest Hasbro Fett helmets and modded that. A lot of scratch builders take that helmet for the basic shape and work from there. The only drawback is the dummy visor, as it's not a full T. It's also a bit small and made more for a child's head. It was hard to tell though so perhaps you didn't use that as a base. I was a member of the 501st for a while so let me know if you have any questions. I was looking into doing a scratch built fett for a while.

No, didn't use that oversized childs prop!

Mine was custom built from scratch using styrene, cardboard, bondo, and plexiglass with car window tinting.

This will be the same process I would use to make new ones... makeing them relatively cheap...  about 20-30 bucks total I think is what I would sell them for if I were to sell them strait out instead of e-bay auctions...

Just now wandered into this section. I've been contemplating putting together a suit of beskar'gam for a while now. Basic Jango based helmet would be the best option. Sizing is very important.
