I've been working on a prototype of a second version of the TIE Fighter Shelf. I hope to have this one done soon.
In the meantime once the reorganizing on the shop is completed I'll be starting on another version of the most popular project I've done to date...
Can you guess what that is ? ;)
-
You've had so many great projects, it's hard to guess! Can't wait to see it though!
-
that is gonna look sweet! I love these ship shelves. Are you gonna put some of your computer consoles up top? I see an intercepter there I think, what ships are gonna go on this? Have you ever thought of making an AT-AT type shelf that works on similar principles? I could see the at-at drivers being loaded down into that at-at cockpit. I remember that opening scene from that one fan film Imperial Stories or something like that that showed row upon row of ties and at-ats that remind me a lot of your shelves. Man, I could even see a rocket launch pad type shelf with elevator that you could make for ground loading the at-at drivers! I think you can kinda tell I am biased one way Rodger! I do like these ship shelves though. Once again you are making some great stuff. Thanks for sharing this with us Rodger!
-
I just looked at your site and noticed the background you made for your deathstar shelf. Man that looks great! I sure hope those can be cast! Put you up on the front page today too Rodger!
-
Your past tie shelfs turned out great so I'm sure that this one will be another winner. You have so many great past projects, Rodger. My guess for most popular would be the Death Star briefing room but that's not my most favorite.
-
Thanks All !! ;D
Actually The Cantina Shelf gets prize for the most requested project. I hope to start a new version soon since i've already have a few promises to keep.
An AT-AT display has crossed my mind based on the Endor Landing Platform. Large that one would be. ;)
-
A large one indeed Rodger! Still, back to this shelf (sorry I got excited and took this off topic a bit) I think this is just a classy way to display your "loose" ships. It is also interesting to see the detail you give to even the shelf supports. I would love to see an overall shot of your woodworking laboratory to see all the fun toys you have.

A coupla more prototype pics.

Hope to make lotsa progress over the holiday weekend. ;)

Another work of art, Rodger. I know I could definitely use one of those for my SW room!
-
This looks great. I am definitely looking forward to the final product.
-
All your work is just... awesome !
I saw on Sandcrawler that you did special rack for Tie Bomber with wonderfull shape...
For my DS dio, I haven't tools you have, so I just make my Tie's racks with a saw, and find a simple way ;) .
I'm gonna take some shots and post them here.
Edit : Pictures uploaded !
-
It's hard to see from those pics the design of your mount Darth Revenge but It appears to hold up a variety of ships very well. Good Job !! ;)
I've got more progress done on TII...
I added the pins to the top of the Struts.
The backs of the ship mounts are scalped and screws will be added for extra strength.
And I made three ladders so the pilots can get into there ships without jumping. ;D
They probably wount need them to get out since most of them won't be coming back.. :D
-
Looks good, Rodger! You deffinatly have some surperior wood working skills.

Thanks ! From a guru like you, a congratulation is a excellent motivation ;D
Design is a simple version of your Tie Fighter rack, I have just change some measures I think. If wood piece has enough breadth, and width between the two pieces isn't too big, that ok (If I remember, 20cm betoween each external side of pieces, wich have a 16mm breadth)
-
I see someone has been busy! Man, I am anxious to see what this final product looks like. I know one thing, I wouldn't have the patience for that fine detail work!
-
Once again Rodger, your outdoing yourself again. Looking great so far.

Sweet shelf Rodger. I love the yellow's contrast with the imperial standard color. That color on the ship supports really makes em stand out. Thanks for sharing your pics and links with us.
-
Totally awsome shelf there, Rodger. I, to like the yellow on the ship supports and ladders. It gives the scene that industrial area caution paint type of feel.
-
Once again you have out did yourself Rodger! Keep up the great work.

You have done well to not leave it alone, Rodger. I really like those back walls with the doorways. That rocks, dude!!
-
Pretty nice Rodger. I have been wondering what you were up to! Like Clint, I love the back doors behind the ladders. I would love to see you do an AT-AT shelf like this one. Well maybe not! Then I would probably want one. LOL!
-
This is crazy!! Looks so cool!!!!!!
-
man that is too cool... I've got to remember this for when I finally get my own place and get me a S.W. room....
-
Rodger, I adore your work. The way you apply your amazing wood working magic to the Star Wars universe is incredible. This particular piece blew me away.
