Title: eBay - customs, dioramas and auctions of the week
Post by: Darth More on March 13, 2019, 05:58:04 AM
I would like to use this thread to share some interesting auctions from Germany! Over the past years availability & demand have changed quite a bit! Bidders in the U.S. pay more for Star Wars figures on eBay than people do here.

Yesterday, I found an entire collection p for sale on eBay Germany!

Starting bit is 20k - 6 days to go. Take a look for yourself if you want to see a big collection with great stuff of the last 20 years...I got fun myself ticking all the items I own myself...the list of the description is very detailed!

Big Collection

Lots of army builders like this one here have become quite rare:

The seller I got the repainted Republic Gunship from, sells some interesting customs once in a while:

The inflation of THE BLACK SERIES figures...

I've been keeping my eyes on Hasbro's The Black Series 6" figures since their release in 2013.
Over the years these "flag ship" figures of Hasbro's new premium line have constantly become cheaper at retail and most of them lost value while some go for crazy prices on the secondary market by now. Talking about the time before the Archive Line.
The fact that some 6 inch figures are sold cheaper than 3 3/4" figures - especially TVC figures! (e.g. on Amazon) makes me mad! Hasbro put most of their effort and dedication to Star Wars into their new 6 inch line - their main argument was: more quality for collectors and higher profits for them! Well, quality wasn't that good at the beginning, it has improved significantly recently though, BUT where's the profit for Hasbro? I know the profit is made once Hasbro sells their products to retailers. But this is defintely NOT a good sign, if retailers just won't get rid of their stock for the MRSP.
But I'll save this question for a different topic.

There's a seller of homegoods and mixed stuff on ebay Germany who also got a good variety of The Black Series Phase II figures in 3 3/4" figures. He probably got them as remaining stock and bought them on margin.

What's shocking to me here is that people keep bidding less and less for these figures, although they are new & on card and most importantly: high quality super-articulated figures!!

This seller has been shelling out 2x8 figures every Sunday for some months now: One complete case and one case seperately.

This Case of 8 (9 with Jawa 2-Pack) figures has been sold for 41,06€ last Sunday. And I was already upset to have missed it.

But if that wasn't cheap enough, look what the highest bid of yesterday was:

Yes, I got this case for 34,45€ / ~$37.20 shipped - that makes $4.65 per card or $4.13 per figure...this is madness and such a development leaves me in concern about the future of super-articulated Star Wars action figures...

Here's the history of the three previous auctions in February and March 2019:

It is interesting to see the ebb and flow of price on eBay. Sometimes I feel it is sad this is the blue book for action figure prices. I think it is more fickle than the stock market most days.

Off to share.
Title: Re: eBay.de - Germany - crazy auctions worth sharing...
Post by: Darth More on April 08, 2019, 02:51:02 AM
Indeed, Tamer! Thanks for sharing my thoughts. Price development is crazy - TLC and TVC stuff go for crazy prices nowadays while TBS is still "young" enough to reach an all-time low. Even POTF figures have gained value after a time where nobody wanted them anymore...
The stock market is crazy and people started to invest in toys (LEGO, Star Wars toys, licensed items, exclusives and all sorts of collecables). And this leads to some "interesting, but definitely not fun" price development and aftermath on the secondary market...

And this is what I saw right after I opened the box:

On the back of Yoda's cardback I even found a 6.99 price tag. I'm pretty sure this is part of the stock The Entertainer in the UK got, too!

Well at least you got em cheap. Sad though, even a little packaging care probably would have gotten these to you fairly moc. Off to share.
Title: Re: eBay.de - Germany - crazy auctions worth sharing...
Post by: Darth More on April 15, 2019, 12:58:46 AM
Tamer: Well, if you chuckled about this, it's everything I could ask for!  ;D I didn't expect them to arrive in good condition. The seller offers gardening and household goods and probably got these figures "dirt cheap" - so they don't care at all. Still left a positive feedback because they mentioned that packaging might be damaged.
I just took this occasion to have some fun. People who collect everything in MINT condition probably don't buy stuff from ebay that much - especially no remaining stock!
I really enjoy these figures - Mosep Bineed is a little miracle to have in 3.75", the Jawas are gorgeous and Han in just loaded with accessories! Love 'em!

Are you looking for an army of troops for your Hoth diorama? Well, yesterday 15 of them left the bay!

- 9x TLC SL Snowtrooper
- 6x TLC/SOTDS Hoth Rebel Soldier

- 74 bids from 8 bidders
- winning bid: 169,00€ + free shipping

A good deal!

Or if you are looking for an instant TBS6 colletion, this is one way to go!

- 35 figures: 1-32 plus 3 exclusive figures
- 15 bids from 7 bidders
- maximum bid: 461,00€ (reserve not met)
- this collection was re-listed and then sold for 500,00€ buy-it-now

14,28€ per figure. A very good price! This collection could've cost the seller anything between 800€ and 1,120€.

If you're a fan of the starships of the Star Wars Universe, you'll like this auction:

This collection holds over 3,000 pieces of Micro Macines, Action Fleet, Titanium Series and models from DeAgostini.
Most notably is the black wall with all the stars and starships - such a cool idea...

Thank you, Tamer! I think this wall with all the flag ships and starfighters is worth taking a look at. Personally, I've never seen something similar before. I really like the idea and am going to write the seller a message.
This auction was pretty hard to find, though. It was showed to me on an auction of the "Sale" Barge. There are currently two offers: One for 1,600€ starting bid and the second for 2,500€ buy-it-now.

Remember that Jedi Temple Guard? This was sold on ebay last Sunday and is apparently worth more than even a TAC Darth Revan.
The value of Revan decreased since Hasbro announced he is being repacked in The Vintage Collection later this year, which is good. But I’d rather have the TBS 6 inch version of Darth Revan scaled down to 3.75 inches, instead.
You can get a carded TAC Revan here for about 40€ (~$43) on ebay now. For that Jedi Temple Guard you’ll have to spend some more bucks. Let’s hope Hasbro will give us a SA update of this figure in TVC, too.

Fairly interesting to see what figures go up and down.

I can remember the White Faced Meena Tills going for ridiculous amounts back when the ROTS Line came out. I bet it ain't worth regular price nowadays.

Oh, okay - that's interesting! I wasn't even aware that a variation of Meena Tills existed. I started collecting in 2005 when the ROTS collection was on shelves. Definitely a wonderful time...but I'm not even sure of I got Meena Tills in my collection. I'll check on that  ;)
Thanks for your comment Tamer!

This is how much of a flea market ebay and their other platforms can be!

These 9 figures were sold for 10€! Shipping would've been another 3-5€...so 1,66€ per figure at the most! Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get them.

And this is how prices for a single figure can vary within weeks:

I got this TLC Wioslea back in September:

This one here was sold last Sunday (and the blaster is not even hers...):

Talking about rising prices:

This TCW Ahsoka was sold for about 80€ plus shipping...

YouTuber OnlyOneKenobi recently shared a video about his experience with ebay and which deals he missed out:

Well, the same thing happened to me just recently and maybe you've experienced that, too? (I hope not!).

I've been watching the market for 13 years by now and usually auctions don't go as high anymore at the end of a month (due to a lack of budget).
These TCW Clone Troopers go for quite some money - even loose - by now. Some go as high as $30 to $50 a piece!
But this lot was sold for a mere of 1,50€ each last Tuesday!

64 Clone Troopers (including many rares, NO yellowing, yet!) for 87,00€ plus shipping!! Lucky winner!

Well, I offered him 450€ - had to start somewhere...he said he had no idea about the price. But after my offer he said he wants 800€! I'm out.

You can see a box from tunghori in the pictures. tunghori sold those TLC Snowtroopers for $5.99 each until 2016. Today they go between $10-15 each!

I told him he'd probably get 800 bucks if he sells everything seperately. I was actually only interested in the Battle Pack...

Some offered too low, but most too high...

That POTF Snowspeeder was 40€ first. But then I asked if the lights & sound work...well, they do. And the seller added more pictures of the lights. Now he got four more requests...
I almost bought the Snowspeeder and the Clone Wars LAAT/i for 120€. But he only accepted PayPal family & friends, which made me suspicious. So I passed. I've become careful on this ebay platform...

Yeah, we asked that question to the brand team and they had no idea who we were talking about. I think I am gonna have to start sending some reference images when we ask about a certain figure.

And its smart to be perceptive on eBay.

Looks like it...that interview was awesome nevertheless!

It's also time for Hasbro to finally launch their "celebration" of Empire Strikes Back for its 40th Anniversary...Let's hope it'll be good...

They also need to give us some Republic Commandos in The Vintage Collection. Any would do to bring those aftermarket prices down again! A Gregor figure would be nice...or an updated omega Squad - any RC would be a win as discussed before...

The main thing that buggs him is the fact that both have no or incorrect inventories...

This offer is from the same seller I shared two weeks ago.

Another ad that draw my attention. And this is my main issue with LEGO: it's so hard to find enough parts to build you own creations. Bricks in beige/sand color are one sort of parts that are only available via bricklink or similar sources. LEGO  could do so much more for their customers like playmobil does. Getting extra parts or lost parts from playmobil even years after a set retired is NO issue at all there!
My second major issue with LEGO is that you get less and less value for your money. The latest Death Star Escape set is another prime example. It's 29,99€ here in Germany and you only get 2 minifigures. AT LEAST one Stormtrooper would be the littlest to ask for. That's why this set doesn't sell at all and already dropped to 20€ here...

Now, building such an awesome Cantina shouldn't cost that much $$$...but that's what it does thanks to LEGO's politics...

What do you think about LEGO?

Here are some cool auction of loose stuff, which I missed because of my exam on Black Friday...still biting my tongue for having missed that TVC AT-ST! Didn't expect it to appear loose on ebay so early here in Germany! And so many new & awesome TVC figures that came with it! I'm also looking for this Klaatu with grey headband forever!  :o

And I've never seen that Ewok Glider ever before! Must be pretty rare coming with the box, too!

Is the lasting lack of (The Mandalorian) products on shelves pushing prices on the secondary market even more?!

These auctions ended within the past 10 days:

One thing is for sure: Many customizers make the stuff Hasbro won't give us by themselves. Supposedly Hasbro ain't want our money no more...

This one comes from Hamburg, Germany:

I was negotiating with a new seller on ebay. mr.anhlee charges $5.69 for one of these bootleg Clone Troopers we were talking about earlier. And since RC-1136 is pretty satisfied with their quality, I thought I’d give them a go, too. But the seller charges $9.99 for shipping. And he doesn’t combine shipping. I said 60 bucks is way too much for 4 figures. By now I got his price down to $37.99 for 4 figures. That’s about the listed price plus combined shipping. But it’s almost $10 for a figure. I think I’ll pass.
I confronted him that I think that’s way to expensive for bootleg figures. No reaction, he just ignored my comment and lowered his offer from $41.99 to $37.99. Thanks & cheers!
Just thought it’s interesting to share that some sellers still try to fool you with shipping fees.
The seller has got 2 positive feedbacks of which 2 are probably fake.

I have seen some awesome Ahsoka customs lately. How they haven't made an Mandalore Ahsoka yet in both scales in beyond me. They are usually pretty up and at em on their "hero a and b" figures as I seem to recall them saying back in the day when I talked with Hasbro. Even to the point of saturating the market and causing them to peg warm.

Just found this Diorama on “ebay Kleinanzeigen” for 155€ or best offer (without figures) this morning. Thought this might be nice for reference. I find it so cool that someone built one of this particular scene of The Mandalorian. And this inspired me to finally make my first Diorama of Mustafar as well:
Title: Re: eBay.de - Germany - crazy auctions worth sharing...
Post by: Starchaser on June 10, 2021, 11:22:48 PM
That is pretty cool. Glad you found it inspiring. I still think you have more Felucia stuff to do though (can anyone say Chryssalid ;D) I think the lava dioramas are pretty cool. My son has a small terrain piece he and a friend built that is lava field base for Warhammer minis that I've always thought would translate well into a larger scale landscape for Star Wars.
Title: Re: eBay.de - Germany - crazy auctions worth sharing...
Post by: Darth More on June 11, 2021, 12:08:42 AM
Haha, you're right! Haven't forgotten the Chryssalid, but like my other The Force Unleashed figures this wonderful creature is across the country. I'm going to share more pictures in Fall. The Chryssalid is such an amazing piece, love the design and colors and thank you so much for making me aware of it! The figures are not even included with the diorama, but I think the price is okay assuming the builder spent 8 hours on making it.
The picture frame dio was a test for a larger project. Still have my base plate for the Mos Eisley modular build, so I got 8 more drafts for similar modulars. One of them is Felucia, but I'll need a few more plants to fill the area of 110 x 150 cm...but it will have enough space to display the Battle Rancor, an Acklay and of course the beautiful Chryssalid!

It's wonderful that your son enjoys Star Wars and his father's skills so much as well! Warhammer is a great source for our scale as well and back in 2009 I also built the Mos Eisley Diorama (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=3139.0) with a friend...good memories!

The same seller also sells the Klatooinian Raider from the TVC AT-ST for 110€. Meanwhile it's still available to (pre-)order on Amazon (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=2798.msg225131#msg225131) at the moment for 76€. It's crazy that the same AT-ST is offered for 212€ or more in the bay. That's why I might order one more from Jeff.

The same seller also has a custom Blurgg for 49€, which looks pretty nice. I'm sure it will be $39.99 when Hasbro makes one for TVC or $49.99 if it comes with a repack/repaint of Kuiil.

Indeed, and I recognized just today that the artist is located in Greece and not in the U.S. I supposed he was because the prices are in USD. And the Bespin Diorama sold after you shared it on the frontpage, but he sold 6 of them in total, so it isn't a one of a kind. Today he even relisted it, which makes sense to me if he's a professional model builder who makes a living with these.

The most amazing thing to me is though, that the Bespin one isn't even the most impressive one of him! You can take a look at his other projects here:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/karaim1008/m.html?item=124440581288&hash=item1cf93c94a8%3Ag%3AjpIAAOSwJX5fsQgd&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 (https://www.ebay.com/sch/karaim1008/m.html?item=124440581288&hash=item1cf93c94a8%3Ag%3AjpIAAOSwJX5fsQgd&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5337371392&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1)

I'd say he's the 'hemble of Greece'! And if you read his feedback, his customers are as amazed as I am right now!

Due to the lack of Astromechs from Hasbro prices have constantly gone up on the secondary market. Now I found a collection and the seller claims he has them all 1 Vintage and Modern. He claims this is worth about 6,000€, but sell them all to me for 4,800€ (~ $5,580). He’s especially proud of the pop-up R2s as his favorite pieces of all 190 Droids.
These Disney Parks Droid Factory Lines are extremely hard to get here in Germany.

What do you think? I think it’s fair, but hard to afford. Definitely a collection I don’t see every day. Let me know if you’re interested.

Indeed, the seller says it's his life-long collection. His baby.

Would someone please explain to me why people pay the price of a whole set just for one of its figures?
Also I didn't know that TVC is made by MATTEL now. Do they fly now? This is madness.

The Magna Guard alone sold for 65€ by itself, all 3 figures sold for 124.52€ plus shipping. It's currently sold out on Hasbro Pulse and who knows if it restocks, but that's almost double the price than the cheapest offer I could find online. But it's nice to see that the demand for gaming characters is strong!

I remember when I had this issue as a collector. I just had to have it. I remember spending like 70 bucks on a target lava vader (which at the time was just nuts). I don't even know where that figure is now.

Haha, I feel you and am sure it'll show up again once you get through all your boxes eventually.
I'm just glad we're not completists.

Well, I never watched the REBELS TV show so I haven't been interested in any of its merch. However the small/Class I vehicles that Hasbro released between 2015-2018 were quite decent! So for 10€ shipped! I just couldn't pass on this ebay deal. Even though there was no further wrapping, both of the speeders arrived on good condition within just 2 days!

I was looking for the CLONE WARS line of 2003 and recognized that all of Hasbro's toy lines prior TSC 2006 are not listed in our Kenner / Hasbro Collecting (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?action=collapse;c=2;sa=expand;c162dc55=8bc31d8c8c5cb11ef3fd4cc01cf79a00#c2) category...I guess that was before the forum existed.

Anyhow the original CLONE WARS line was very small compared to the SAGA'02 main line.
Still it has taken 20 years for me to discover that there were VALUE PACKS of this assortment available back then. Have you known this? Were they included with some Medium Class vehicles?
