*** UPDATE - 02/17/17 - 2016 Showcase Video with a lot of custom Hasbro stuff ***
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
after the first and the second TIE-Fighter conversion, now I've finished a new TIE-Fighter conversion (V3.0):
"Hasbro TIE FIGHTER - KOOLSHADE EDITON 2013"
Still not 100% movie accurate, but imho for now my best collector piece.
What I've done with this Hasbro toy:
- *new* "3 part" wings with real "KOOLSHADE" material (similar to the material that ILM used '77 for the solar wings)
- *new* custom designed cockpit with LED floor ilumination
- *new* added missing joints / grooves on the hull
- more realistic cockpit window with all new "screw holes"
- LED ion engine lights
- "visible" engine parts
- lots of details added at the wings and the fuselage
- decals added
- "LED-design" laser canons
- stainless steel design base
- complete new repaint

The hight of this model is about 24". The laser-canons can be pan and tilt (by hand).

Brillantly done mate and I really enjoyed looking at the WIP pics of the turboblaster tower.

That turbo laser is so amazing.
I don't know why Hasbro doesn't have the brains to make something like this?

Here's a short video of the "REBEL CON III" from the last weekend where I've shown some of my models and hasbro conversions:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXJOjUcFAi4

Great video. Wow, all your work there together looks awesome.
If I may ask, do you display all of your creations together in a room of some sort? I would love to see a video or images of that!
-
WOW!! thats all i can say. WOW!!
-
BOOM!!!... That was the sound of my jaw hitting the floor when I saw that Turbolaser. I have wanted one of those ever since I can remember. Now I will have to build one for myself at some point. You have just made my custom build list even longer. Thanks a lot! ;) Seriously that and the Tie Fighter with the light up cockpit are astounding! Excellent work!
-
thanks for your feedback :)
@Tamer: because of the size of models with the display stand I (must) show them in different rooms ;)
And here's the "little brother" of the 1/18 Turbolaser Tower:
Scratch built Episode IV Death Star TURBOLASER model with a USB controlled gun-turret (pan/tilt) and
an "addon base" for the TIE-Fighter. The dimensons about 22x22x20" (WxDxH). Approx. 600-700 hand-cutted
small "armor plates" on the surface !

Currently I am working on an update for this model: TIE-FIGHTER V3.1 - Battle Damaged Version
The template is the ILM model from EP IV from 1976 which were auctioned in 2008 for incredible $ 402,500.00.
Here's some details about the auction:
...On August 1st, a prime piece of Star Wars history hit the auction block. An original Tie-Fighter miniature model
used in the Death Star battle scenes of "A New Hope" sold for an incredible final bid of $402,500.00 at the Profiles
in History's Hollywood auction...
...Included are two original camera reports, dated December 15, 1976, describing the technical details of the shooting
day on which this model was filmed. The scene is labeled "417" and entitled, "Vader Wanks Out"; "Edlund" is listed as
the cameraman. Also included is a color image of this model on its rigging in front of a blue screen as it was shot for the film...

Ain't that the truth Jay! I didn't even know they had auctioned off things like this already. Guess I couldn't have afforded this anyhow as it is a little over my collecting budget.
All joking aside, great project and I look forward to seeing you create the solar panel damage on this. Its gonna be epic. Off to share.
-
As usual mate you WIP pics are awesome.

Thanks my friends :)

Hey buddy, what was that about mail?
hmm...it seems that that email has not arrived ??? I've sent you a PM ;)

Stunning work again. The damaged TIE is another great project to have seen come together. Love the base, that's a great touch, but I'm very curious about the grating you've used on the solar panels.
This project really makes me want to see if I can find some time again to pick up my TIE dio I started er.... years ago :-\ :)
-
but I'm very curious about the grating you've used on the solar panels.
I believe thats a product called "Kool Shade" and what was used on the original movie TIE fighters.

Today I want to introduce you my latest Hasbro conversion : X-35 Landspeeder
This was a commision project which have to be done very fast , because the model was was needed for an exhibition at short notice.
So I did these modification on two evenings. I modified a little bit the front damage, made a small repaint, added real metal grids at the engines and made
a fibre optic cockpit illumination. The illumination works with 2 AA batteries. The on/off switch is in the center console of the model.

what do you use to cut the fiber optic cable with, it's so clean, mine dont come out that clean
To cut the fibre optic cable I use nothing special, I use this BELZER side cutter : http://www.bahco-werkzeuge.de/products/1286.html (http://www.bahco-werkzeuge.de/products/1286.html)

I wanted to get to this yesterday, but the real world wouldn't let me. I made sure to get this up there today. Wow MR, just a great vehicle here. I think we all knew it was gonna be good, but wow. I don't know how you do it, but your additions, paint work, lighting, and then display is flawless. I don't see how you could ever improve upon it.
Off to share.
-
Congrats man! This one looks stunning!
-
A fantastic X-Wing!!
-
That looks nothing short of sensational. If I didn't know any better, I'd never have guessed this is a Hasbro toy in the first place. Absolutely stunning work. Right down to the little spots of paint wear on the canopy. Awesome.
-
MANY THANKS for your great comments guys 0/
...and Shawn: ...really no problem...sometimes (only sometimes) other things will be much more important than Star Wars toys or a forum... ;)
As promised here's the Youtube video of this model:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMZMWrqLAFc
I've also added some comparison pictures of my conversion with the "out of the box" model and the EFX Studio Scale model:

It is amazing what you have made with a sloppy detailed Hasbro product.
This is the perfect X-Wing.
-
Awesome video, time to get that on the front page.
-
WOW! It so beautiful! As everyone has said, simply stunning that this started as the Hasbro toy. Mighty fine work.
-
...thanks again my friends... :)

-
You never cease to amaze me. Beautiful conversion again. Really enjoyed the pictures on your site.
-
Both the X-Wing and Tie Interceptor are just stunning.
Ron
-
Class act all the way. They look like high-end, Master Replicas versions...but with better paint. Your photography is breathtaking as well.
-
Many, many thanks for your great comments 0/
@the kit fisto: The "new" cockpit is made from 1mm styrene. For some of the details I've used part of "old" kits (kit bashing) and the engine-mesh is a piece of real Koolshade.
The next Hasbro converison will be a B-Wing and/or a Y-Wing...
-
Here's my second LANDSPEEDER mod (V2.0 ;)) now with a Tatooine mini-diorama.
This was also commision project. I modified the front damage, made a repaint, added real metal grids at the engines and made
a fibre optic cockpit illumination. The illumination works with 2 AA batteries. The on/off switch is in the center console of the model.
Many more pics here: http://maxx-replicas.jimdo.com/projekte-2011-2014/landspeeder-v2/

-
The 1/30 X-Wing is in my opinion the worst kit of the Revell easykit line but you've made a real masterpiece out of it.
The weathering looks perfect and the richness of detail is phenomenal.
Great work!
-
No matter what scale you do your work is always truely amazing.
Ron
-
Many thanks for your feedback :) :) :)

What kind of grey is that base grey? I bought an x-wing model kit, and can't figure out what kind of light grey that is.
-
@Bronxstalker: the base grey is a simple gray primer from the hardware store. The final white color is also from a spray can from the hardware store ... ;) For the repaint and weathering I've used no airbrush, this time I have used only Model pigments !
-
Simply stunning! I look forward to seeing the next one

Ron
-
incredible work once again ! I must have stared at this for a good 5 min . I am in awe of how in depth to detail you get on your projects ! Outstanding
-
I have to ask if the resin pieces you made or copied are scratchbuilt also or are part of a kit? If they are part of a kit, where can I get them?
If they are not part of a kit, would you be willing to produce a kit based on the resin parts you molded?
-
Thanks my friends :)

Some of the parts are "scratch build" and some are RESIN recasts from
SHAPEWAYS parts for the Hasbro Falcon which I've bought at the RPF Forum.
So, here my EP VII radar dish for my beauty ;)
