Hey guys,
I posted a similar thread last summer on the other board I go to, but no real response.
I have a pretty good sized hobby room(20by12) but it always seems crowded. I'd like to figure out a way to organize it where I can get to more stuff readily(I'd like to make a dio comic series at some point) and display stuff instead of trapping it in tubberware(I do occasional customs).
So far, I jus have rubbermaid shelves, but they really don't do much for me as my tubs don't fit on them, lol.
I've thought about going to a garage organizing site and getting some of those cabinets, hanging cabinets, and shelves, but would my walls support that(they are paneling, real wood paneling)?
Would it look acceptable/ Would it kill resale?
What are your thoughts and what have you guys done to get the most out of your room?
Some other considerations, my wife wants the bed from the guest room in there, the old TV from the living room(only 26 inches, CRT) and my computer, lol.

yeah, I agree, but its a no bargain thing, the wife needs a second bed(or I do) when she's on midnights, lol.

get some star wars bedding and take advantage of it!

Your walls should support those cabinets as long as you screw into the studs within your walls.
How bout some pics, Simon? I dont really have my hobby room together. One day, when I finish my basement, there will be a good sized hobby area.

Every June, I clean my hobby room, keeps it usable for about six months, then it slowly fails for six months, then its June, again. Here are some before and after pics from last year, :)

So, you see what I'm working with, its a fair sized room, but it doesn't always feel like it. Also, its only 12 by 14, I was counting the length of the closet, doh!

Great pics. Yes, I would think a major overhaul is in order with some shelving and then leave a hole for the bed, whatever size it is and do it star wars or marvel style! It would probably look pretty cool!

Decided to do a little purge, between the EBay, donating to goodwill, and just tossing some stuff in the bin, freed up a lot of room.
My next step will be the posting of a massive trade list.
THere are a ton of things I'd like to have and a ton of things I have that I don't want, seems simple, right, :)

simon... after meeting you for some reason this is exactly how I pictured you storing your collection :P
lol that set of shelves is perfect western ky furniture right there too. Awesome! ;D
lol naw man you have a great collection from what I've seen.... btw if any of that stuff going into the bin is good fodder I'll take it off your hands for customs ;) We still need to set a date for a ky meet and invite some of these people here, get rid of some of your junk that way.

Believe it or not, D, seg and I have a box of stuff for our meet that is straight fodder/junk/unwanted, figure we'll give it a shot at the meet to get a second life.
I am gearing up for another round of cleaning in that room. We are having new windows put in on Thursday, so pretty much the whole house is getting turned inside out, :)

hey simon, I tried getting ahold of you today actually to see if you wanted to come out to murray and customize. I was home by myself this weekend and bored to tears! lol I did a little customizing and alot of housework.... :P anyways. We need to be thinking about a date to make the meet that more people can plan on attending.
