Here's a slideshow of my older customs. I figured it'd be nice to see how my work has evolved over the years :)

*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Hey guys, saw some fellow Yakkers, Scummers, Sandtroopers and what not mention ISY and I thought I'd take a look and enlist :) Most of you already know me and my work, so I'll just start off here with my latest projects, which both happen to be Jedi of Old. And by old I mean OLD ;)
Both are in WIP status, but I personally like seeing customs take shape. Hope you enjoy these WIP shots!
First up, my entry for the current Yakfinities The Old Republic. It's a Jedi Master called Jool Hul. Head's from a Narnia Centaur fig, body's from a Marvel Superhero Showdown Beast. And a bunch of Fixit sculpt makes the armour and such.

Second is my entry for the upcoming FFURG Casting Call Tales of the Jedi. TotJ is a series I hold very dear to my heart, most definitely my favourite story from the EU. I was pretty glad TotJ became the theme for the Casting Call, since I've been wanting to make this character for quite a while. I don't think he's been customized before, either. Anyway, I took the big leap and decided to get to work on him. It'll involve a lot of sculpting, something I really try to do well and patiently. Hope it shows, despite these two pics showing a very early WIP stage:
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/FFURG%20CC%2057/th_FFURGCC57WIP_01.jpg) (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/FFURG%20CC%2057/?action=view¤t=FFURGCC57WIP_01.jpg) (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/FFURG%20CC%2057/th_FFURGCC57WIP_02.jpg) (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/FFURG%20CC%2057/?action=view¤t=FFURGCC57WIP_02.jpg)

Hope you like what I've shown so far and be sure to visit my website: Incom's Customs Center (http://sites.google.com/site/incomscustoms/) :)
-
Incom! I have seen your stuff before on some of the other sites. You have a great sculpting talent, sir!
Welcome to the shipyards!!
-
"Enjoy WIP shots"?? My good sir, here at the 'Yards, we *demand* them! Well, ok, *I* do at least. 8) I figure I've learned as much from studying WIP shots as anything else. Besides, it lets me vicariously live thru the creation of a fig. Nice stuff!! I remember TotJ fondly - but ended up not being able to keep up with it. *sigh* Nice Jedi you've got started!
-
Incom,
It's great to see a new creation from you. As I am an interior designer, detail is my thing and that's what I love about your stuff, the detail. You bring your own uniqueness to these forums and I really am a huge fan.
I will be eagerly watching this one for more images.
Jules
-
can't wait to see these finished. I hope I can pick up some sculpting tips and tricks from you along the way. Honestly I'm still pretty new at sculpting... pretty much all I've done with apoxi-sculpt has been filling holes, one set of mando armor, and the rest has been plastic surgery on several female fig's bust size! lol
-
Incom, your customs are starting off pretty darn good! The first one in this thread totally makes me think of those guys from the Clone Wars Microseries who were experimented on and made into big gross super-soldier things, but before all the gross mutation!
-
Very cool ideas, and you appear to be pulling them off quite well.
Real great work.
-
Very cool looking Jedi, can't wait to see him finished in all his glory!
-
Some of you probably remember Jokabofe being the Master of WIPs ;) Well, he certainly lost that title, because he's churning out one superb custom after another. I guess I now hold that dubious title ::) A TIE Fighter dio that's been collecting dust for months, a nearly finished A-Wing that hasn't seen the light of day in ages and plenty of figures ready to be assembled, painted or otherwise altered.
Well, I thought I'd give you guys a little gallery of my current WIP figures:
First up, Jedi Master Ood Bnar, for FFURG's Casting Call #57: Tales of the Jedi. I won't make the deadline, because of several reasons, but the casting call prompted me to actually start on making a custom of one the most respected and esteemed Masters of all time:
Next is a Kel'Dor Death Star construction worker. After reading the Death Star novel, I was pretty intrigued by the labor aspect of it and the fact that not only contractors worked for the Empire, but also criminals and other law breakers. I will make eleven of these, which aren't that hard to make. As you can see, this is just a Firespeeder body with a Plo Koon head.
I'm a huge Killzone 2 fan and I thought it was time to make a second Killzone-esque character. This time it'll be a Helghast officer, using Captain Typo's body and Trachta's head (obvious choice). I've got one of those Demchemkov (or what's his name) figures from the KOTCS line. His hat will be perfect.
And last, but not least, my current entry for the Yakfniities Ladies Theme. It's loosely based on a picture I saw a long time ago on SWAG and this was perfect for the current Yakfinities. Combining the hot legs of 25th Ann. Scarlett, the tight body of Maris Brood and an old Lady Jaye head resulted in this so far:
And much like DocOutlands' excellent Twi'lek, she will have a superfast ride as well
-
Sweet! Just don't let them languish, eh? ;D
-
She's a babe, not too pretty, kind of girl next door with attidude. I love her....
-
I'm looking forward to your Ood Bnar to be completed! I love the Jedi, especially fan fic ones!
-
Thanks guys! Ood Bnar isn't a fan fic Jedi, though. He's a key character in the Tales of the Jedi comcis, my favourite era of the EU.
-
I definately want the recipee for that maris brood custom....
did you dremel off the waist of the gi-joe scarelt fig and then graft on the upper torso like I've done with my super arty lando and fett figs?
If so... AWESOME!
those are all great figs, can't wait to see em finished.
-
Incom, you "d" man!
I want to see a colour pic of the babe please!
-
Nice wip pics, Incom! I love that killzone fig!
-
great looking stuff man! Can't wait to see the finished product.
-
I threw that Helghast Officer pic up on the Front Page, Incom. He just rocks.
-
Well, I've been away on holiday in Portugal last week and I managed to do quite some more work on my batch of customs. Thanks for frontpaging my Helghast officer, Clonehead! I've got him and quite a few others all primed in black, ready to be painted.
One of those primed is that chick for the current Yakfinities. Like I said, she's gonna have a sweet ride, similar to Docoutlands excellent Twi'lek racer.
I used a cheap 1/18 die cast Kawasaki XZ-12RYQX-23RFS or whatever motorcycle, pulled it apart and used some Incom magic on it <ahem>. Jules already know I easily get mixed up in details, so I kept adding styrene, wire and what not and now it looks like this:
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Yakfinities/th_YakfinitiesLadySpeeder_01.jpg) (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Yakfinities/?action=view¤t=YakfinitiesLadySpeeder_01.jpg)
But I think it looks more SW without the aerodynamic body, which easily pops on and off the main body. What do you guys think? I will add the windshield, don't worry:
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Yakfinities/th_YakfinitiesLadySpeeder_02.jpg) (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Yakfinities/?action=view¤t=YakfinitiesLadySpeeder_02.jpg)
-
At first look, I think your design looks better without the body fairing on it. And let me tell ya, it looks MARVELOUS either way!
-
very very nice
-
Remco, it's always nice to view your customs, and it seems that you just keep getting better and better.
Is that a painted toothpaste cap on the front of that bike?
-
hmm that looks oddly familiar! lol. Great start on that bike. I like it both ways, if it pops on and off eisilly why not make it an accessory? paint it up like it could go on there and it can be an option, displayable with or without it.
I like it, can't wait to see it finished.
-
I agree with the Spud on this one. Looking good and hope you get to finish this one oh king of the WIP's. Will we ever get to see that awesome beast you started?
-
Wow, Incom, that is a cool looking start to your bike!
-
Fellow troopers, thanks for the uplifting words! Now, I don't want to show you a pic every time I've painted a part of these figs, but I made good progress (and let my girlfriend take care of our two little girls after dinner ;) )
Jules, I deliberately showed b/w pics at first, because the figs were all unpainted. But here's a WIP shot of the painting stage so far. I decided to make my entry for this round of the Yakfinities a Zeltron.
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Yakfinities/th_YakfinitiesLady_02.jpg) (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Yakfinities/?action=view¤t=YakfinitiesLady_02.jpg)
These next two have been on the bench for some time now (like many of my work, haha!), but one of these will be my entry for the Jedidefender custom contest. One of the 30 figs we could make, was a super articulated Rebel Commando (long overdue, Hasblow!). Over at RS, one of the members noticed the Resolute Duke figure is already a great base figure for a Rebel Commando. I picked up his idea and started working on what eventually will be a squad of four Commandos.
I don't know if any of you recall the novelization of ROTJ, but in that novel James Kahn desribes the Rebel Commandos as outlaws, criminals, dubious fellas, but each has a fierce hatred toward the Imps. I ordered a couple of TriGate heads and let me tell ya, the guys over there know how to sculpt! Awesome mean looking heads, perfect for Rebels ready to gut some STs.
Okay, enough with the yadda yadda, here's a pic of the one I'm painting right now, and one that has been accessorized:
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Rebel%20Commandos/th_BadCopmany_04.jpg) (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Rebel%20Commandos/?action=view¤t=BadCopmany_04.jpg)

Finally a shot of my SW/Killzone Officer. Let me tell ya, I LOVE that Trachta head for this custom (I believe I have another seven or so Trachtas in my fodder bins ;D ). As you can see, I removed his toupet and gave him a healthy looking skin tone, ahem.
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Killzone/th_HelghastOfficer_02.jpg) (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/incomT65/Customs/Killzone/?action=view¤t=HelghastOfficer_02.jpg)
(click the thumbs for larger images).
That's it for now, stay tuned for FINISHED pics of the Zeltron and the Rebel Commando, because their deadlines are October 31st ;)
-
Those look pretty sweet! I'm liking the Zeltron and Killzone Officer the best!
-
Incom good to hear from you. Very cool WIP's again, good luck on that deadline. ;) Looks like a nice start on the Rebel with that Joe body and I am a big fan of your Killzone officer.
-
Ah at wong wast a completed custom! My entry for the Yakfinities of September/October:

that figure turned out Great, Incom. I do believe you are a shoe in to win. I love the colors that you used.
-
I love the figure... but I'll be honest. I don't like the colors. I know that is suposed to be indicitive of the species and whatnot... but the yellow top is blinding. I think I would have gone a little more subtle with it. but then again... I'd have painted her as a human with normal skin as well. because... well I'm boring like that. lol
-
Looking great Incom. A very nice entry, glad to see you got her done!
-
Thanks guys and spudafett, I'd rather you be honest than just be nice for the hell of it, you know. I see your point on the top and it does look more vibrant in the pics than in real life. I painted it with Bad Moon Yellow, but applied two washes of Desert Yellow to tone it down a bit ;)
Here's my latest finished figure: an SA Endor Rebel Soldier/Commando, my entry for the JediDefender contest. I know Rebels aren't very popular around here, but I thought I'd show you this one nevertheless ;)

-
Personally I don't care if it is a custom is rebel, imperial or not even SW related, I appreciate craftmanship, and this one turned out great, I really like it and it has me thinking about options to populate my big Endor dio.
-
Yep, they are both high craftsmanship and I'm glad to see them.
Rebel scum, I have such a time getting that grime off my atat's feet, :)

YES!!!! Hells yes! That's a Rebel grunt done RIGHT!
I for one LOVE the Rebellion and I love seeing customs of rebels, ANY rebels! Especially ones as well done as this one.
HASBRO can never ever get the Alliance military right, the new Dresselian is as close to great and acceptable as they've gotten. It's not on the quality level of your custom by any means but it gives me hope maybe Hasbro will get AT LEAST something remniscent of yours out someday :)
-
the rebel looks great. I love the use of the joe parts, always do.
the only thing I don't like about it (and it may be the lighting of the camera) is the color of his hat. It's too bright I think...
-
Wow, incom, that's gotta be the best 3 3/4 scale rebel fig that I have ever seen.
It looks like you added some shading to his face area. Man, that face just pops.
Great work, buddy!
-
Thanks guys, this was another fun one to make. Glad you like him :)
Here's another one I finished yesterday: the Helghast Officer. It's still a Killzone/SW crossover, but not so much as my trooper. I'm slowly working towards more accurate Killzone characters. But for now, this Officer will strike fear in the hearts of the enemy.... and of his soldiers ;)

Indiana Jones Col. Demchenkov (or something): hat

that one is just damn pretty, Incom. helooks menacing.
-
Nice customs Incom. I love the Rebel Commando you have created, great parts choice with that Joe body. I agree with Clint that face paint turned out superb! Also the hat does seem to be a much brighter green than the rest. Are you also making the bald one with the zip tie and styrene bandolier?
I also love your Killzone crossovers. The officer looks very menacing indeed. Great parts and paint work, very cool.
-
The Commando is very cool indeed.
Well done!
-
NICE!!!, he looks superb great looking detail I salute you.
-
Those are simply stunning Customs Incom, and again your imagry amazes me, you are totally professional.
It's great to see some new stuff from you.

Wow, Incom, that turned out great! Great mix of parts you used for this one. Now that's one war-hardened jedi.

Hey Spud, thanks man. The use of the droid's arm was a spur of the moment thing, actually. Just to make him that much different from other Jedi. I wish I had a couple of those Terminator figs, though.
Thats a cool looking jedi
Thanks very much, 11oclones, glad you approve :D

Ah finally we're allowed to post pics of our dioramas for the Karen Traviss Tribute contest ;D Here are clearer shots of two key characters of my dio:

Ahh, finally we get some front side shots of these. Man, I love em both. The paint apps are really nice on this pair.
I really like how Mereel Skirata's upper under coverings are a shade darker than on the rest of the figure. It adds an additional bit of realism. Headed to the front page with that shot of the both of em.
-
Hey, thanks Clint!!! Kal's a bit smaller than Mereel too, by the way ;)
-
These figures are very nice.
-
I love these dude! your mereel is incredible!
-
Kal's been a pretty popular custom these days, but I think this one might be my favorite. Afraid you're going to HAVE to do an unmasked head for him. ;D
-
Great looking customs Incom
-
Awesome versions of these characters. Great job!
-
AWESOME CUSTOMS!!! nice mandos :) :)
-
Incom,
I must admit that as I clicked on this post I was expecting something amazing as you have very hight standards, but these latest set of customs are really something else. I've seen plenty of Mandos and yours are up there with the best of them. The Jedi is another very clean custom.
As I am a photoshop buff I was also very impressed with your logo on the images and the superb photography and presentation of your posts.
You never fail to impress.
Jules
-
no wonder i voted for you grate stuff and it looks sweeeet
-
Looking good Incom. Very nice.
-
excellent custom Mandos Incom
the Kal Skirata custom is awesome
-
Thanks for looking and commenting, guys :) Glad you all approve :D
Dan, I was lucky Karen didn't clearly state whether or not Kal was wearing his helmet in Ko Sai's office, but Mereel clearly removed his. I saw an excellent Kal Skirata at RS a while ago, which used a BBi figure's head. Another one used a Marvel Punisher head. I'll have to check out some BBi figures then.
Jules, thanks for the praise, mate. Yeah, I visited dafont.com and found this really cool graffiti font called 'mostwazted'. Add a little glow and an outline and presto! But that's a walk in the park for you. I did learn how to copy the layers of my logo to the other pictures, though ;D
-
I need some photoshop classes. Love the incom graphic on your pics.
-
have I comented on these? either way they are awesome. Great paint apps. I'm loving the combination of parts as well.
on the one figure you used the shins and feet of the mcquarrie concept boba fett didn't you? I noticed on that figure almost right away that it doesn't have ankle articulation... this is easily fixed if you care to mess with it. The way I did it was cut the feet off flush at the bottom of the armor and drilled a new peg hole for a new set of feet. Then took the feet off a spare boba figure and used them... To take it a step further and make it look even better you should dremel out a small rounded socket into the ankle that the ball of the new foot can fit up inside flush so that it doesn't look as awekward, does that make sense?
-
Thanks spudafett. Kal's indeed made of McBoba legs and arms and a Animated Debut Fett torso, helmet, jetpack and belt. Didn't have time to fully articulate him, because of the contest deadline. But it wasn't until after I had finished him that I read about Kal's armour being much like Jango's. And he apparently didn't have a jetpack :-\ ;)
Tamer, my logo was easy to make, mate. In a nutshell:
- type the text
- apply a simple outer glow
- colour and resize that glow to your desire
- simplify the layer and select the text (ctrl-click on the layer)
- add an outline to the selection, not too big
That's about it :)
-
great job :)
-
Is there an official color scheme to Mereel?
Nothing against yours incom, but I was wondering is there a list with all these dudes and the plate colors?
I haven't read the last book yet, I honestly dont want too.

Apologies for not updating my page here for so long, guys ::) I'm on so many forums, it's hard to keep everything updated, you know.
Anyway, it's not like I've been sitting on my shebs since March 2010! Got some nice stuff to show to you, hope you like it!

This is awesome!
-
Always impressive work Incom!! :D
-
Wow! they all look great but I think the Malgus is my favorite!
-
Great update here, I have seen these beauties around the web. All of your work is very precise and clean. I love the sculpting you add to mast figures that makes them unique. Your paint aps are flawless as is your presentation. Thanks for the great update and I hope you get to finish that last figure this year!
-
Wow, it is gonna take some time for me to be able to articulate how much I like the figures on this update. Needless to say this update is on the front page.
Once I can pick myself back up I will try to leave a better comments. I guess I am just partial to Sithlords like Malgus, but that Ulthane just rocks on so many levels too.
-
Your customs are sweet dude.
-
Incom, you've been away far too long my friend!
My have you been saving up some goodies! Duros Traveller is stunning and I love the way you have the shoulder armour sitting on top of the cape on the KOTOR Jedi. All of your customs and their presentation is absolutely top class!
-
INCOM!!!! I LOVE THIS UPDATE! LOL!
Great work on all the figures and that Malgus and Jedi - Awesome Old Republic work! Hope you plan to do many more!!!
-
Amazing updates buddy and as always your work is brillant.

Could I get the recipe for Ven and Malgus?
-
Ven Zallow is amazing.
-
Guys, thanks so much for looking and for the positive vibes! Glad it all meets your approval. I'll do my best to keep this thread up to date as I continue with my current projects and the new ones I will inevitably start ;)
Could I get the recipe for Ven and Malgus?
Sure thing, my man:
(Darth Malgus has been copied of Jokabofe's (a.k.a. Starwarsgeek) excellent version from quite a while ago. I did a few details differently, but still all credits go to him :))
Darth Malgus:
ROC Doc Lewis (http://www.yojoe.com/action/09/doctora.shtml) - head
Cobra Commander (Battle Armour) (http://www.yojoe.com/action/08/cobracommander28.shtml) - upper arms
TAC Galactic Marine (http://www.rebelscum.com/TAC02marine.asp) - shoulder armour
ROC Flash (http://www.yojoe.com/action/09/flash3.shtml) - breath mask, upper torso, modified upper body gear, lower arms/hands
X-Men Origins: Maverick (http://www.cooltoyreview.com/Hasbro_XOW_CS-Maverick.asp) - lower body, upper legs, neck piece
TAC Vader (http://www.rebelscum.com/TAC16vader.asp) - lower legs, feet, modified saber hilt
And a random sith cape.
Ven Zallow:
Resolute Duke (http://www.yojoe.com/action/09/duke30.shtml) - head (resculpted hair)
ROC Duke (RIA) (http://www.yojoe.com/action/09/duke34.shtml) - torso, upper arms, upper legs
ROC Ripcord (Accelerator Suit) (http://www.yojoe.com/action/09/ripcord2.shtml) - shoulder armour, lower arms
TAC Concept Boba Fett (http://www.rebelscum.com/TAC15McFett.asp) - belt
CW Clone Trooper (http://www.rebelscum.com/TCW05clone.asp) - belt ammo packs
25th. Ann. Wraith (http://www.yojoe.com/action/08/wraith.shtml) - lower legs, feet
Random saber hilt and cloak.
-
I've seen your work elsewhere on other sites' forums, and it's always awesome no matter where/when I see it!
Your renditions of Master Zallow and Malgus really are top-notch work! I've always been partial to the Duros spacer though!
Great, great work!
-
COOLEO!
-
Thanks for the feedback guys!
It's not like I haven't been doing anything lately, it's.... well it's me and my obsessive addiction to works in progress  Anyway, while the Greenstuff and Fixit on Darksiders Death and Ulthane cure, I've been busy assembling a custom that will have a very special meaning to me and perhaps to others as well.
I recently joined EchoBase, planning on entering the contest that Mike set up. Like many others, I was shocked to learn of his passing a few days ago. I will finish this custom then in honour of him, entering it in the contest and offering it up for another auction in benefit of Mike's family, setup by Tim Welch (check this thread (http://www.procustomizers.com/showthread.php?p=93334&posted=1#post93334))
It's based on an artpiece I found on Deviantart/SWAG.
Herre's a WIP shot of this Twi'lek smuggler:
And yes, that's a custom made double barreled blaster she's holding :)
Final pics sometime next week. I do have next Thursday off, so I could customize all day ;)
-
cool, i like that double barreled blaster!!
-
I've been quite busy painting the Twi'lek smuggler and I expect to finish her this weekend. Here's a closer look at the painted head. I've tried an eye painting method also used by Sithfire and I must say I am quite pleased with this first result. If you look back at my customs, the looks on their faces are mostly that of someone on crack :P

Nice work Incom. The eyes are great do tell on the method from Sithfire. I could use some tips on eye painting...
-
I was just about to ask the same question! and LC got their first.
The close up shot is amazing especially knowing how small that head is. The detailing is so small and as I've tried to perfect eye make-up and pupils and I know that even the slightest fraction of paint out of place ruins the look...you've done a wonderful job!
Absolutely love the Twi'Lek!
-
absolutley supeb work mate !
-
GREAT JOB rest in piece mike :'(
-
Thanks for the comments guys, glad you all approve!
Here's a link to Sithfire's method of eye painting (scroll down to the bottom half of his post, until you see the pic below):

Traditionally, one paints the skin, then the whites of the eyes, pupils, eye lashes, eyebrows and go back to touch up the skin around the eyes. That never really worked for me and I'm very happy to see this other method works so much better for me.
-
Thanks for the link!
-
Agreed! I had assumed it would be in his blog, but hadn't made time to hunt it down.
-
Awesome figure Incom. On the front page.
-
Great looking paint work! Yes those eyes are very well done and I can't wait to see more!
-
This figure looks AWESOME!!!
-
on your 1st page you showed a jedi being built, did you ever finish it? and if so can you post new picz? because it looks AWESOME! ;D

Ha, uhm..... yeah, he's still around.... somewhere. Haven't worked on him for ages. Thanks for bringing it up though! As soon as I have finished some projects I have on my workbench right now (priority: my Transformers Bumblebee reshell project), I'll see if I can rekindle my interest in him and get creative again :D
Say, haven't heard back from you, regarding making that Ven Zallow for ya....

Here are some pics of the completed figure. Based on an artpiece by Deviantist greyfoxx082 (http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=twi%27lek+smuggler#/d25g4oq). Greyfoxx set her in the Old Republic timeline, which I can relate to.

This figure will be featured in a series of auctions directed by fellow Procustomizers.com member Eyes-of-a-Snake Customs. The proceeds of the auctions will go to Mike Martinez' fiancé Hollie and their daughter.
This one's for you, Mike.
-
This is awesome!
I like the touches of blue paint you added to the leg/shoulder armor and I love the holster you added; do you know what piece that came from?
Knowing Mike's work, I'm sure he would be more than pleased!
-
This is awesome!

Thanks, JediMerc! IIRC, the right holster came from and old Cobra figure. A guy in black with silver armour/highlights. Can't remember his name. The left holster is from the ROC Scarlett figure, I think, turned 90 degrees to have the double barreled blaster fit. It still fits very tightly (a bit too much, actually), so I'll probably make the hole a bit larger, before it ships off to a potential winner of the auction.

Last week I started on a custom Marvel Legends Wolverine, inspired by fellow ProCustomizer Speedleescustoms. My best friend's a huge Marvel fan so I'll make him a nice Wolverine for him to display at home :)

amazing detail incom

Great customs!
-
Wow what a great Wolvie!
-
Freakin' sweet! Is that "real steel"---or should I say adamantium---you used for his claws?
Unbelievably awesome!
-
YEAH!!!!!!!!! Awesome!
-
I know this customizer and he is defiintely a good one. Wow, the level of detail on this is amazing. I hope you give us more pics. On the fp by the way. Awesome job.
-
Hey, thanks fellas. Yes, those are real metal claws. Nearly every Wolverine figure has those hideous warped plastic claws, so replacing them with metal ones is obligatory. Made from bobby pins and quite easy to do. Of course, this is officially not a child's toy anymore ;D

That Wolverine is fantastic Incom, and the metal claws are a nice touch!!! Looks like we know who does all of your work now, how cute :D
-
 Yeah, I have so many project going on, I just had to hire some skilled professionals to help me out ;D They're really great, asking how this hand fits in that arm, why that big green fella looks so angry, etc. etc.
-
Nice it's always good to have pros helping you out :D That's awesome...why does that green guy look so angry anyways ;D
-
How cute! We're expecting our first and can't wait for moments like this.
-
Here he is, all primed in black. Really slims him down, wouldn't you say? I just love the way a figure looks like this.

-
That does look cool!
-
Wolverine has always been one of my favorite Marvel characters. Can't wait to see this one progress..........
-
That is one terrific-looking Wolverine...I agree: the black IS enough for this guy!
And now I'm wondering: are you the real mastermind behind all this work...or is it really your kiddos? ;)
Great job; keep up the terrific work!

I think you are making a Wolverine for the ages! On the front page. I can't wait to see this one full painted.
-
Oh heck yes! This looks awesome!
-
Dude ! ...... ummm what was I gonna say?....... :o that Wolverine is ripped as hell !!! I can't wait to see him finished.
-
Much oblige, fellas! Here's a shot of Wolverine in the first painting stages. I thought it'd be nice to show the colours I've used as well. Some time ago I changed my painting technique, which I learned from DanoftheDead.
For the skintone I used a few drops of Vallejo's flat flesh, added 4-5 drops of Model Master's gloss varnish and 2-3 drops of water. It's not rocket science, so it could be a few drops more or less :). I mix it up really well and start painting in thin layers. Works like a charm.

Here's another non-SW project I'm working on. It's a Transformer reshell project. I took a Universe Bumblebee, sanded it down to the bone and modified a 1/32 Mini Cooper model to fit over the skeleton body of Bee. It'll be a gift for my brother, who owns a very nifty Mini Cooper: black with a chequered roof and mirrors, two white stripes on the hood and a no.53 on both doors.

And I thought Wolverine was cool...this looks like it's gonna be even better! (Kinda a TF fan more so than Marvel comics... ;))
-
Wow wolvies lookin great and thanks for posting up the painting tip. I will have to try that out!
-
Nice job on Bumblebee! :)
-
I love that wolverine !! Thats soo cool how your making the transformer .
-
Wolverine!!!
-
Wow dude, you are on one Hell of a roll! Both look fantastic, and can't wait to see your Bumblebee!
-
Wolverine's paint job is giving me some serious headaches. Been painting that sucka for the last five evenings and he's got some major issues with his armpits! But I think I've finally solved the paint chipping issues in that area, phew!
Anyway, here's a little teaser I made:
-
WOOHOO! Looking forward to more Incom!!!!
-
Thanks for the fleshtone painting tip. I need all the knowledge and help I can get. ;)
-
Sweet, your update is now on the fp.
-
Thanks guys, really appreciate it! Thanks for the fp feature too, Tamer! Would be nice though, if you'd link to my vid, instead of Jules'. ;D
-
Great stuff! Wolverine is looking great, and the mini-cooper transformer idea is wonderful!
-
Gee whiz, it has been one of those days Incom. Sorry, I fixed my mistake.
Long story short while I am at work I cannot link to youtube so I just had to copy and paste a youtube link I saw that Clonehead had used and I didn't swap out the one video id for yours.
-
No problem, Tamer! Thanks again for the FP!
Wolverine's shoulders suffer from serious paint rubbing issues. I've been sanding them like crazy and I *think* I've got it. Or 90% of it, which is fine with me. This sucker is about done, guys. Will post pics asap!
Okay, what's next in the pipeline:
- Durge diorama: got the 3 Durge figures on the bench (CW 2002 Durge, Swoop Durge and CP Durge) to make an articulated version. Will be part of a dio of him stomping down Obi-Wan in a bog with dead Gungans;
- Ulthane
- Death
- Speeder Bikes (way too long on hold)
- SW/fairytale crossovers
- Hulked out Yoda (and he's gonna be HUGE)
- Yakface Secret Santa figure (don't know what yet, but I signed up, just like every year)
- Luke vs. Scout Walker dio (based on Marvel comics)
- SW:TOR Jedi and Sith, possibly a "Hope" diorama
- Sandcrawler type vehicle, will be made from the Wall-E truck set (thanks to Hangarbay94 for the inspiration!!)
- Bumblebee reshell project
- TIE Fighter dio (really need to get that sorted :-\ )
- A-Wing fighter (ditto :-\ )
- Past/Present X-Wing dio
- really Old Republic Jedi Master Jool-Hul (as seen on page 1)
And I'll most likely add more to that, it's in my nature :)
Some of these are nearing completion (yay!!), some have been in WIP status for too long, some are only a sketch on paper or an idea in my mind.
If y'all want to give me some direction, feel free to tell me what you'd like me to make first. Some have a deadline, but I'll manage :D
-
Wow, sounds like some cool items. Love the thought of that TOR HOPE DIO.
-
Yeah, that SW:TOR Hope dio's been in the back of mind ever since I finished the Deceived dio. It was supposed to be a follow up for the same customer, but I've never heard of him since.
Anyway, here's an update on Ulthane. I've added some softgoods.
-
Your update to Ulthane looks great. your imagination and creativity go hand in hand to make a winning custom every time.
-
SOME GREAT TALENT MY FRIEND
-
Wicked cool! ;D ;D ;D
-
Looking awesome as ever!
-
Love Ulthane...the sculpting on the soft goods (i.e. tears, damage) looks phenomenally good!
The Durge dio sounds terrific....can't wait to see how that one in particular turns out!
-
Very nice update Incom! Your sculpting skills are really showing with your latest works! These latest additions to Ulthane are just awesome! Cant wait to see this guy come together!
-
Wow Remco, awesome wip shot on that Ulthane. On the FP.
-
Woow Fantastic customs man!
-
Thanks for the FP, Shawn, and to all for the positive vibes. That really means a lot to me. I promise I'll get back to SW customizing soon. Got some wicked ideas as you can see a few posts above :D
In the meantime, I've setup a non-SW customs thread, just to make sure where my true loyalties lie ;). But feel free to take a look at the first custom featured there: Wolverine (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=7192.0)!
-
WOW - Ulthane rocks!!! breathtaking work, my friend!
-
Thanks Art!
Want to see how I started out back in 2006? See older works by me? Check the slideshow link in the first post! Have a few laughs while you're at it :D
-
What a cool slideshow. Neato. On the front page. I think.
-
Hey, thanks Tamer. A bit weird to see those very early customs, but I feel I've learned a lot since I made my steps into this larger world ;)
Speaking of steps, here are a couple of WIP shots:
Mandalorian Novoc Vevut, which will be my entry for the Mando Contest. I have a CW Boba Fett coming my way, hopefully in time, so I can make Ghes Orade out of him!
Heavy Mandalorian, inspired by Deviantist Vinom11. A very early WIP, the only thing I've done so far is make a Jango Fett helmet higher and sculpt the top part of the visor.
Arkanian smuggler, inspired by SWAG artist Travis Moore. I used the head, torso and legs of Ms. Marvel, arms of Juno Eclipse and the feet of (I think) ROC Scarlett:
Last in line is this female spacer, based on artwork by Deviantist Yoitisl. She's not a Star Wars character per se, but the population in the GFFA is quite diverse, so I thought, what the heck. Body is 25th. Ann. Lady Jaye, lower legs of 25th. Shipwreck (or Cutter), 25th. Cobra Cmdr. (Battle Armour) feet, custom cast helmet from Clonehead (still had that, yay!) with tubes from some ROTS Firespeede pilots' backpacks:

Wingo Incom!!!
-
Yikes, those are some exciting looking projects, incom.
-
Very cool character you have chosen! The wip's look great and can't wait to see these come together!
-
all i can say is wow !!!!!!!
-
Daggone, like we already didn't have enough to talk about on your podcast next week, which reminds me Chad and I need to email you the specific questions to your work. Don't forget Yarders if you have a question for this outstanding customizer to either email it to me or Chad or get it on the CAFN Facebook Page or the Podcasting Thread under Announcements.
I am really looking forward to this interview. Can't wait to talk about some of these characters now too.
-
Thanks guys, did some more sculpting last night and Novoc is about ready to be painted.
As for the questions, Shawn, send 'em my way whenever you're ready :)
-
Very good work. I can't wait to see how they turn out.
-
As for the questions, Shawn, send 'em my way whenever you're ready :)
I just sent em. Wow it was fun delving into your work and your blog.
-
Very impressive job! :)
-
Thanks botwt. I primed Novoc prior to the interview with Shawn and Chad, both his body with helmet and his head sculpt. Got some real life things this weekend, so I'll take the few minutes I have left to actually paint him up a bit. Man, the 19th is closing in fast! ;D
-
Remco I just wanted to say I enjoyed the pod cast interview! It is great hearing everyones take on customs and the different processes we all go through to get to the same end result, a custom action figure.
-
Man Incom you have been really busy, they look awesome so far.
-

Thanks Luke, I feel the same way. We pick up a lot of good ideas and methods from one another, but also take different roads to the end result.
-
Man Incom you have been really busy, they look awesome so far.
Thanks man, problem is I'm always too busy, haha!
Anyway, I've been painting like crazy, hoping to finish my Mando for this month's contest. Here's a final WIP shot of Novoc Vevut:

;D
Haha, oh yeah I sure got your..... Cron Drift..... ;) Hope you catch mine :D Thanks for the many :0s by the way ;D What the hell am I doing here typing messages? I'm off, back to the workbench!
-
^ Ha! Sure did. And your welcome. ;D
-
Love this guy, and he is not even finished! Very nice work Remco, sculpting and paint work looks flawless!
-
Man, I would be proud to have that one in my collection. Stunning work so far, incom!
-
Outstanding Mandalorian!!
-
This guy looks great! I've been working on developing a Jariah Syn custom (from SW: Legacy) using parts of the GIJoe Shadow Tracker fig trying to get the dread lock look right. I think I'm going to try something different after seeing such great work here though!
-
Woah! Amazing! Great work!
-
Well, the voting has commenced, so here's Mandalorian Novoc Vevut for ya:

Thanks JediMerc! Had to Google Jariah Syn, since I'm not that much of a Legacy fan (cool artwork though). And whaddayaknow? I stumbled on a certain customizer's Flickr stream while searching for pics of Jariah!

Even though I have seen much of your work before, I decided to look back through your pages. You have some really great ideas. I am extremely impressed.
-
Awesome! Looks like it was taken right out of the package.
-
This is such an impressive work of art! It doesn't look like a 3 3/4 inch figure at all. Very well done Remco!
-
Wow Remco this is sweet! On the front page.
I love how you create great photos to go with your customs too. Love that head sculpt on this one.
I would love to see a dreadlock tutorial sometime!
-
Thanks guys!
Shawn, sounds like a good idea actually! The technique I used worked for me, it could work for others as well.
-
Incom,
An obscenity came to mind when I saw that image of your Mando, that is one hell of a superb custom and one that I had to study in detail.
The head painting is unbelievable, it is so realistic it looks real, totally real...it has to be one of the best examples of custom paintwork I think I've ever seen. You are definitely at the top of your game right now, and every new custom just ooozes quality.
Loving your presentation as well..
-
Hey guys, finally something worth showing again! Shawn casually mentioned the idea of me making an AT-AT Driver to add to his collection and being the persuasive guy he is, I went to work for him. And instead of making a male driver, I came up with the idea of a female AT-AT Driver :-*
I just had to use the 25th. Lady Jaye torso for this, but had some difficulties finding the right arms and legs. That's been solved now, so painting has begun!
This first shot has been posted previously on the front page:
This is how she looks right now. I went with 25th. Pilot Scarlett's head instead and used the legs of a ROC Cover Girl. The arms are from Cesi Doc Edriss or whatever. You know, that Twi'lek Rebel pilot :)
Still trying to figure out how to make the removable chest armour.
-
Wow, I think I am in love!
I can't wait to post this to the front page tomorrow. Daggone Remco, awesome. I can see that there might be a couple obstacles to overcome with that chest armor. She is definitely how I would envision a female driver.
-
You can always modify the chest box to sit at her hip, off to the side, or rest on the small of her back.
I might consider doing a female tie fighter pilot soon... so I'll run into the same issues.
looking great so far!
-
Nice figures Incom! I went through your thread and I really dig the Duros Space Traveler you did, something about it is really awesome. All your paint apps are very nicely done and I cant wait to see your female AT-AT driver completed.
-
Looking sweet so far, Remco! I can see poor Tamer sweatiing bullets over this one.
-

I just love to see the progression from one picture to the next and so on. I think its about the process almost as much as the finished figure. I am enjoying myself on this one. It looks great doesn't it!
-
That is a great looking WIP! I see you are going to beat me at an idea I had for my Rebel Pilots, soft goods strapping! Looking awesome Remco!
-
That's real minty!
-
so far so good.I can't wait to see this one finished.female chararcters are always fun to custom.
-
Looking Good!
-
Thanks guys, now that painting's well in progress, it's a lot more fun to work on :D
-
Have you thought about using This:

Ars30
If You Don't Have It and Want One Shoot me a PM
-
No, haven't considered that part, didn't know it existed  ! Thanks for the excellent tip, pm sent! :D
-
very nice; can't wait to see how this one comes out when it's all finished.
The shoulders look a little 'buff', but I guess the Empire's not too interested in wimpy chicas in its forces... ;)

I agree, the shoulders do look a bit off. But with that chest armour Ars30's sent my way (thanks, again Allen 0/ ) and some shoulder plates, it'll look much better.
-
So er.... painting's pretty much done, waiting for that excellent Bultar Swan part to arrive. Found another Scarlett head (25th. with the pony tail), which imho looks better. You decide, Tamer :D

-
I'm feeling the first head but they are both rockin it! Looks really good!
-
I have to admit that the picture below has the head the really makes her look like a stunning beauty imo and doesn't swallow the neck as much.
I am thinking this head will be awesome for helmetless, but am wondering if perhaps the Illum Padme head might still be useful for the helmet on version or a combination of the Illum Padme head for the back with a cast and cut off chunk of the front portion of the Scarlett head for a helmet on version? Did that make any sense? Or perhaps you have another idea entirely.
I don't mess with the artist who works the magic so you do what you feel looks best and thank you for allowing me to give my opinion.

Shawn, now you are starting to think like a custom builder. Perhaps I should send you some paints for Christmas?

Shawn, now you are starting to think like a custom builder. Perhaps I should send you some paints for Christmas?
LOL. I am experimenting with the idea Clint. If I can get my new entertainment area / bookshelf and then my other display cabinets finished I think that will be my next project, a true customizing area.
I really liked that set up with the fan that Incom showed us how to make a few months back. That was pretty slick.
-
Yepper, I am liking the second pic with the pony tail. She just looks prettier to me Incom.
-
Yepper, I am liking the second pic with the pony tail. She just looks prettier to me Incom.
if you can do it right, and make it look good, you can trim the top of that head sculpt's hair down so that it's not so larger to make it fit beneath a helmet... but I think you'd have a better chance of hollowing out the at-at drivers helmet some more to accomodate the head/hair. The at-at and tie pilot helmets are so thick they can stand to be opened up a bit for larger head sculpts........... I think.......
-
I think the scarlet head is too small for the neck.does not look proportionate,it just won't look well on that bodytype either.the arms might also be a little big for a female character,i'm only basing these observations from the photos though, may look different in person.hope you don't mind me throwing my two cents in,and you know I'm a fan of all your work remco.
-
Not at all, buddy, I'd rather have honest criticism than misplace praise. And I know what you mean. Lady Jaye does have some large parts on her body, her neck being on of 'em ;) And indeed, the female Rebel pilot's arms remain a bit buff, despite the fact I sanded off the shoulders quite a bit. But with the armour and shoulder plates in place, I'm positive it'll work out for the better.
Thanks for the advice on the helmet too, guys. I'll go down a different road though, one I've travelled before. I'll sand down the Lady Jaye head (which isn't of any use to me anyway), so that it'll fit inside the Saga '06 helmet. I think women will put up their hair underneath the helmet as well, not letting long hair come out from underneath it. Safety first, right?
-
Went back to sculpting again. Here's an overview of some SW projects, including a Sithstalker head for Darth Phantom:

Dude!!! Those customs are going to be sick! Can't wait!
-
Wow Remco. You are on fire. I like both of these. On the fp too.
Back to the AT-AT Driver. I did like that same head you did. It just looks more feminine to me that the other. I guess the other does fit the neck a bit better. Oh well, you are the artists and I am feeling all we are doing now is muddying already murky waters. I think it looks brilliant and love the sound of the helmet on issue too. Thanks for making it.
-

are you going to glue in the lady jaye head inside the helmet then to preserve the ball joint? If your doing that you'll just have to have a seperate head for un-helmeted display correct? That's what I did with my 501st fem trooper. Although, instead of wasting a somewhat useful head, you could just fill in the cavity of the at-at driver's helmet with sculpy and drill a new socket... Or use the less professional hot glue method.
-
That's right, Spuda, just using that Lady Jaye head to fill the helmet socket :) So she'll have a helmet with that head glued in and her Scarlett head for display with her helmet off. I did the same with my Mereel Mando custom, just used a spare Jango head, sanded it down and glued it inside the Mando bucket.
-
As you'll probably know Yakface.com hosts an annual Secret Santa Custom round. Quite a few of us took part and made some great custom gifts for each other.
This is what I made for fellow Yarder/Yak MrHoppers, a battle damaged Spider Droid and as a bonus a female Jedi Knight. The latter is a custom I made a few years ago, I must admit. I wanted to make a new Jedi, but you wouldn't believe the insane paint rub issues I experienced with that one. Because of the deadline, I opted to add an older quality custom, instead of a new one with a soddy paint job.
When I got BJ's name from Chewie, I immediately thought of making this for him, to go with his awesome trench diorama.
The Spider Droid is the Saga Deluxe one (I think), with the walking mechanism ripped out, damage effects using my Dremel and soldering iron and a bit of tubing on the under side. Repainted the entire thing in shades of green and added the obligatory weathering and battle marks.
Despite the pressure of the deadline (shipped Dec.17th., arrived Jan.3rd.) I had great fun making this one. I even thought of adding decals, inspired by that walker seen in Sucker Punch. But like I said, time wouldn't let me.
The Jedi is made from a 25th. Scarlett body, ROTS Shaak Ti skirt and VvV Bombstrike head. Fully repainted of course.
Anwyay, enough talk, here's the pics:

That is an awesome gift! Very well done Remco!
-
Very nice Incom, you are another customiser who has come on leaps and bounds since I first joined the forums. I love your presentation, you just oooze creativity.
-
LOVE IT!!
-
awesome Rem,she looks amazing, and that is such a cool thing to add in.it looks like she's really doing one of those Anikin Skywalker takedowns on the droid.
-
Remco, this is sweet!
On the front page. You are on fire!
-
I like The SPIDER Who is the facebook LIKE !!!
-
Beautiful work, Remco! The saber cut is marvelous ad I love the paint on the spider droid.
-
Cool! That spider droid has definitely seen better days.
-
Awesome execution! I love action poses in photography and yours always look terrific. I'm really liking the green paint you applied to this droid, not typical to the types of coloring we usually see on custom droids.
-
Nice set up with the Jedi and droid!
-
Very well done!!!
-
Thanks very much, guys, always appreciate your feedback! And MrHoppers already positioned these two in his excellent diorama ;D
-
Well done. I always enjoy a nice Jedi.
-
The first thing I thought of when looking at your battle damaged Spider Droid was the show The Walking Dead. I can see this thing dragging itself along on its tow good legs firing away. The great thing about droids is they don't get scared and they don't quit if they get a little injured. I sound like a Separatist...
-
Thanks guys. That's..... a disturbing though, Bugskit ;D Your idea reminds me somehow of Maximum Overdrive :)
Anyway, despite great guidance by Clint (Clonehead) I failed at casting that Bultar Swan body armour Allen (Ars30) so kindly sent me my way. I did make these for Allen though:
I feel the mold making process goes very well, I'm really getting the hang of it. But getting the cast out hasn't been succesful at all. The armour snapped every time. I've got quite a few other cast parts now though. Gotta maximize the resin I made, right?
So, I went to work on the master body armour and made this:
And this is how it'll look on Tamer's new driver:
Just needs a little paint and then she's all set!

I love it, Remco! While more tedious to get together, I enjoy the added detail of what you came up with.
looks like another fp story for tomorrow.

Really nice driver! :)

Wow that looks great Remco! I needed to see this after the week I have had. Thank you.

Awesome!

Wow you do an amazing job on her!
-
Great work!
-
Tamer must be happy about this chica! She is a lovely one, for sure. The gear appears to fit perfectly; very nice work on the details!
-
Utterly fantastic work Remco. Truly outstanding - everything from the choice of parts to the subtle paint work are a joy to pour over!
Thanks for sharing!
Ray
-
Wow! That is a really awesome creation! Very well done and that armor is fantastic! Tamer is going to love adding her to his collection!
-
Don't we all hope that Hasbro can take notes on this one and give all of the Imperial Troopers this type of treatment in regards to making female troopers. I think Remco has just done an oustanding job on this. I am gonna make it one of the top front page stories of the day you can count on that!
-
Awesome Fem Driver! That will look stellar on Tamer's custom shelf!
-
Super Job! Now how about a Pink AT-AT for her? ;D
-
Super Job! Now how about a Pink AT-AT for her? ;D

This is a great idea... which means hasbro won't do it!
lol. perhaps this should be a contest? "Starbuck" a star wars character?
I'm considering doing the same thing I did for my "501st fem trooper" for another storm trooper genre eventually. I'd love to get my hands on a few of those bultar swan removable armors... that would make the project so much easier!
Incom: This is a great piece. The work you've put into it really shows! tamer should be very happy to own this piece of great work. I love seeing joe figures be turned into such awesome pieces of the star wars universe!
-
She turned out factory fresh and professional looking.
Were hasbro to crank out a bp of armored females, it would be a sure hit and even possibly snare a few female collectors as well.
-
Awesome. Lady Imps rule. The details are crisp and the figure looks like a professional design.
I also throw a vote of support behind spudafett's idea of "Starbuck" a Star Wars character. Or it could just be a ladies of the empire contest...
-
oo wow i like her. man removable helmet and armor . that's awesome :o
-
Thanks very much guys ;D This was another fun project to work on. I might just make more female Imps like a Scout Trooper and TIE pilot :)
-
Hey Remco,
Nice job on the female AT-AT driver. She looks stellar!
-
Thanks, DD! I'm also glad she finally arrived at Tamer's place, because Shawn and I were getting kinda worried :D
Anyway, I'm working on a commissioned 2nd Ven Zallow. I give commissions priority over my own stuff, but since he's nearly finished, I'll be able to work on other projects again. I've also got a project for I-Hype coming up, starting April 1st (no joke).
Here's an early WIP of a Trandoshan Mercenary. So far a simply parts mesh of a GI Joe ROC RIA suit Ripcord and VOTC Bossk parts, which will make this a relatively easy custom to make. But I have some sick plans for him, once he's finished....
-
Wow!! That already looks amazing! I REALLY can't wait to see it when it's finished!
-
That Trando is gonna be awesome! I used the EXACT same parts a while back for a Sith Lord called Darth Atrocitus, Devourer of Younglings. Great minds and all...
-
He looks really cool!! :)
-
He looks really tough and streamlined with those joe parts. Nice looking wip!
-
Nice WIP, that will look great when complete!
-
Wow, ROC and Bossk parts together! Remco, this looks amazing and will no doubt be among the front page stories we feature tomorrow. Very nice.
I love the sound of sick plans too.
-
He's looking great already! I can't wait to see how he turns out.
-
I like the sound of 'sick plans.' Looks great so far, Remco!
-
Thanks guys, glad you approve so far ;D
Be sure to check out my other custom projects too, featuring an update on Ulthane and Afro Samurai ;D

-
Looking good! Looks like you have another masterpiece brewing. Although, I have never seem you do a bad custom EVER :)
-
that ROC Joe body is a hard one to use for customs; you found an excellent use for it! The look you've got going on here seems like it will fit the Trandoshan parts well.
-
You're too kind, DD, thanks!
Thanks JM, I was browsing the net for some Trandoshan pictures and also had the ones from the RC game in mind. I didn't want to make another Bossk with a flight suit and all, but something different instead.
-
Yes, this looks like a great start Remco!
-
Thanks, Luke!
Here's my second version of Master Ven Zallow, well known from the "Deceived" trailer. The parts are the same as the first one, but on the commissioner's request I made the armour a lighter shade of green. I sculpted the hair a bit differently as well this time.
In case you have missed my first version, here's a shot of him again:
Let me know what you think, always appreciated!
-
This is awesome! I forget what class it is, but it looks just like the armored Jedi they offer in the game! Bravo!
-
Remco, beautiful work. I'm certain that the one who commissioned this from you is beyond happy/pleased. :)
-
If any of your neighbors in the Netherlands asked who is making all the loud excited noises from across the pond just tell them is the Backwoods WV Boy. Remco, I loved your first version. This one is just astonishing too. I can only hope we get to see you work on a new Malgus and dio too. I had to get this on the front page tonight. Thanks for sharing it.
-
WOW!!! :o
-
Hell yeah! Great job on that Ven. Might steal this recipe from you for a different custom.
-
looking great!!
-
Excellent work Incom! Each piece you do just gets better and better!
-
thats seven shades of awesome!
-
Remco, that is absolutely brilliant!! He is so incredibly detailed, and I think you nailed it on the head!
-
So cool! Can we get a recipe? And a shot of the lightsaber belt hangy thingy?
-
Nice job, Remco! Love the subtle details in the paint apps.
-
Remco this latest version is stunning! Great work my friend. I love the resculpt for his hair.
-
Thanks again for the feedback guys!
So cool! Can we get a recipe? And a shot of the lightsaber belt hangy thingy?
Sure thing, buddy:
Recipe is the same as my first Ven Zallow, except for the belt:
head - Resolute Duke
body/upper arms/upper legs - ROC Duke
Lower arms/shoulder armour - Reactive Impact Armour Ripcord
Lower legs - 25th. Ann. Wraith
Belt - McQuarrie concept Rebel Trooper
cloak - O66 Mace Windu
-
Here are two more shots of Ven. He's on his way to the client now, so that's it for pics ;)

Thanks botwt!!
Alright, time for a WIP update:
SA Emperor's Royal Guard WIP:
1st attempt from a year or two ago:

Steampunk Han and Chewie, inspired by SW artist Tom Hodges:

Darksiders Ulthane and Death:
Ulthane is close to being paint, need to finish his sculpting his hammer. Death has finally recieved a suitable hairdo, after numerous sculpting attempts didn't work out.
More to come in the coming days!
-
Looking Good!
-
Ven figure is really cool, I will have to try to make him like you have.
-
Oman I love the old timey stuff Han and Chewie rock especially Chewies stache and Han's bowtie! That Ulthane is just off the hook too!.
-
Wow Remco. Talk about a fantastic update. You can read more of my comments on the front page.
-
Incom, great work!
-
I'm not an Old Republic fan but that Ven Zallow figure is awesome. I've only seen the trailers but it looks like he's been ripped out of it. Lovin your work.
-
stupendously good mate!
-
Thanks guys, glad you like them so far. Two more updates of what's in store. I have so many projects I just hope to be able to finish a couple of them this year :D
First up is a kit bash Durge, using parts from the different Durge figures Hasbro has put out so far. Each of them is too short in my opinion, so I made him a bit taller. He'll be part of a Clone Wars diorama, featuring the scene of him battling a group of Jedi on the moon of Ohma-D'un. Here he is stomping down on Anakin (Obi-Wan's the real victim in the scene, but he was unavailable for rehearsal...)
Apart from some work on the feet joints, the build is pretty much done.
A project that's been on the backburner for a long time is my Speeder Bike chase diorama. But I picked it up again, learned a thing or two on articulation from fellow customizer Spudafett and completed the first of five or six super articulated Biker Scouts:
-
Heck Incom you are getting damn good at customizing. These latest set of images are very classy indeed.
-
sweet work as always, buddy. That sa biker scout is looking just right.
-
Wow you have some super cool projects in the works. I can tell already they will all be noteowrthy. Really looking forward to these upcoming posts.
-
Wow, more great works. Back to the front page. I saw a ton of speeder bikes works you have going on over on FB. Looking forward to seeing how all of these turn out.
-
Steampunk Chewie needs a Tophat!
Awesome stuff!
-
Remco, great work in these last 2 updates. Your sculpting work is looking very nice! It is so cool seeing people's work keep getting better and better with each project. You have been really good at this for a long time but you sculpting is really perfect at this point. Love Chewie and Han steampunked out. Can't wait to see what you do with theit weapons. Ah, the speeder bikes and SA Skouts, great seeing you get back at these with new parts.
-
Great update!! :)
-
Thanks for the feedback, felllas, much appreciated!!
Well, I got word from WookieBalls that he received the gift I made for him! So, that means I can post away! This female Endor Rebel Scout was made for the 2012 ImperialShipyards Secret Santa round.
Recipe:
- Zartana head cast by Starwarsgeek (thanks, Dave!)
- GI Joe ROC Cover Girl body
- Saga '06 Endor Luke Skywalker poncho, belt, blaster
- TAC/TLC (?) Hoth Han Solo binoculars
- blaster rifle from the parts bin
-
That is such a cool figure! I love the concept of a female Endor Commando! Very nice work Mr. Black.
-
Great job! I'm thinking that Renegades Scarlett fig might work well for a similar fig, since our SW girls are either rather small (Leia, Padme) or have very specific detailing (Zam) or strange articulation (Aurra).
Now you've got me thinking...
-
Looks good Remco. Off to the front page. I like the female versions of the troopers you create. You ought to do a full line up of Imperial Gal Troopers and then do their Rebel Counterparts.
-
Very cool, this is one very nice looking commando! I really like the accessories this gal has, great work!
-
I was super chuffed when this figure arrived at my home!
Thanks again Remco - she is a stunner!!!
-
I envy you Ray! This chica would definitely be a standout in any Rebel dio I ever set up. Love the headsculpt and the paint apps: mo hawk and faux-hawks are the new "black"! :)
-
She looks ready to kick some Imperial scumbags! I love this custom. The weathering really makes her Brownish/Tanish shirt standout! I love this custom!
-
Thank you, guys, much appreciated.
Tamer, you know I will, buddy. I'll get to work on a female TIE pilot soon enough in the new year ;D
Anyway, my gift for the Secret Santa round at YakFace.com has found its way to DanoftheDead's residents. Very happy to say, Dan was quite pleased with this Mon Cal Endor medic I made for him.
Figure was entirely repainted, except the Mon Cal parts. After sealing with Testor's Dullcote, I did however add a gloss varnish to his eyes, parts of his dome, his lips and his nostrils.
Recipe:
- TAC/TLC Mon Cal Warrior: head, lower arms, hands, shins, feet
- ROC Heavy Duty: body, resculpted neck to blend in with the Mon Cal head
- VOTC Bossk: upper arms
- ROC Rex "The Doctor" Lewis: nano injector (which in this case could be a bacta injector)
- backpack from the parts bin
-
Nice! Your painting is EXCELLENT!
-
That is a great looking figure Remco! I love all of the Endor Troopers you have done with the Joe bodies. I am sure Dan is stoked!
-
Wow, nice figure Remco. Off to the front page with more comments.
-
Thanks guys, also for the FP mention :)
That is a great looking figure Remco! I love all of the Endor Troopers you have done with the Joe bodies. I am sure Dan is stoked!
Well, before sending off the scout and the medic, naturally I took a pic of the squad:
-
Remco, this is hands down one of the nicest gifts I have recieved. Remco has offiicially promoted me to AT-AT Commander:
The work is just flawless and came in a nicely detailed Mr. Black Box too.
-
Shawn, very happy you like this one, it was my pleasure to put him together for ya! Many thanks to Doc for that Chuckles head cast!
-
Remco - Excellent work!!!! :)
-
That's pretty sweet
-
HA!! FANTASTIC!!!
-
This is my last pair of customs I had to hold back for you, until I received confirmation of receipt ;D As most, if not all of you know, our very own Tamer and LucasClones do one helluva job promoting our fine customizing community. CAFN is fast approaching the 50th episode! Earlier this year I decided to immortalize these two fine gents in plastic action figure form.
So, without further doo-doo, may I present two very respectable officers among our fine Imperial navy: Chad Hitchcock and Shawn Groves!

- Admiral Ozzel body
- Galactic Marine head w/sculpted moustache
- Lt. Jundland cap
Lieutenant (Commander when wearing the armour, nice going Hasblow ;) ) Shawn "Tamer" Groves:
- VTC AT-AT Commander body and accessories
- GI Joe Chuckles head cast, supplied by DocOutlands (thanks again, buddy!)
-
Wow, how cool is that! Does Chad know I outrank him on the ground?
LOL, ftw win Remco. I know I can speak for Chad when I say we appreciate the customizing comments too.
-
These are great!
-
I am so glad you posted these pics i wouldn't have known my guy came with a hat! I found it wedged under the styrofoam!
Here is my tribute to yours:
feature=youtube_gdata_player
Would have done it last night but I was busy nursing my finger!
Thanks again Remco!
-
That is just classic! Nice job on those figures, especially on Chad's stache.
-
When it comes to Walkers, no one outranks you, Tamer ;D
Chad, thanks for that video, man, appreciate it a lot! I'll improve my packaging in the future, so nothing gets lost ;)
Thanks to the others as well for your feedback. Another pair of customs that were a pleasure to work on!
-
I had to get this image spread up on the front page. Thanks again Remco. I do plan on taking some time here real soon to do my own review video of mine and that great gal Driver you made me.
-
When it comes to Walkers, no one outranks you, Tamer ;D
Chad, thanks for that video, man, appreciate it a lot! I'll improve my packaging in the future, so nothing gets lost ;)
Thanks to the others as well for your feedback. Another pair of customs that were a pleasure to work on!
Aww I don't think your packaging was the cause it probably got knocked out of place in shipment is all. It looked great to me. Like I said i am just glad I did not loose the hat.
-
You know, you could use that second to last picture as a banner for CAFN's Facebook page. Just a hint. Just sayin'. You know, no pressure. Wouldn't hurt my ego ;D
-
Finally found some time to set up my lightbox to take some nice pictures of these extremely nice Jedi Knights I received from DanoftheDead for last years Yakface Secret Santa round:

And I have a couple of WIP shots of various projects:

I'm also working on a custom for ProCustomizers' Twisted Timelines contest and I took on a commission for another Twi'lek smuggler. No pics due to very strict regulations. You know, penalty being Force choked and all that ;D
-
What a cool way to package those Jedi!
I love the sculpt work you've done on the heavy Mando, but especially the Darksiders version of "Death". Gosh, this is looking awesome so far...looking forward to seeing this one completed!
-
Hey, thanks buddy! Yeah, the package Dan created was inspired by the package I made for him, but I really dig the idea of making it look like a book. Very cool.
It's cool to see Death's wings take shape and I'm quite confident I can make 'em look cool enough :)
-
Awesome! I'm jealous of those Jedi you've got. Can't wait to see your WIP's when they're done.
-
those jedi were cool and what a great way to present them.
Liking the heavy mando but really want to see more work done on those death's wings
-
I am still reeling from my christmas gift Remco. I really appreciated that. I also noticed your year in review blog post too. Off to the front page with this update.
-
These are sweet!
-
those jedi are super sweet man.. you are a lucky to have them.
-
Remco, I had to put a story up about that great January blog entry too.
-
Great update! Loving the WIP pics and the present from Dan is out of this world!
-
Thanks guys and thanks for the double FP mention Tamer, you're too kind, my friend!
-
In 2011 I made a Twi'lek smuggler, which I was asked to duplicate. I didn't have the same body, so used the Resolute Baroness body instead. While discussing the figure with the commissioner along the way, slight changes were made to make her a tad more different from the first version.
Earlier this year, I got a message from a guy who asked if I could duplicate her. I didn't have the same base body, but version 2 turned out pretty nice and somewhat different looking.

The commissioner also showed interest in an older custom of mine, a Zeltron female, and bought that as well:

Way Coooool!
-
Very pretty. You did some nice looking paints there.
-
Superb work!
-
Awesome stuff!!
-
Wow Remco for president! Looks just gorgeous. On the front page.
-
Very nice work Remco! I love the Twi'leks!
-
Great customs! I love the Jedi in the book!
-
Much obliged, fellas! I do have a thing for Twi'leks, I guess that shows in these two customs I've made. And well, the female ones are much yum-yum, of course :D
-
I really like smugglers, and this custom is nothing more than totally amazing.
-
Thanks Blackthorne! She has already found her way to the customer's home (less than 10 days, wow!). And immediately he requested a follow up custom. For this I had to acquire a new skill set: sculpting lekku.
Let's face it, I love the Twi'lek species. Most of all the females (hey..... ::) ), but there are some wicked male Twi'lek characters too.
Anyway, I am now in the process of making Jedi Knight Rachi Sitra (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/File:Rachi_Sitra.jpg).
Normally I don't show pictures of commissioned work until it's finished, but these pictures are more of a test case for sculpting lekku. First time I did these, using Greenstuff and I'm quite pleased. Needs a few touchups on the forehead and back of the head. Thickness and length are okay, I think. That varies a lot in all those different pictures, but I used movie stills of Aayla Secura as a reference.

-
Looks good.
-
Remco that is pretty daggone sweet. Back to the front page.
-
I love the differentiation a between the two lekku, just the way you've sculpted how they lay around her head/neck. I never get tired of checking out these beautiful ladies you're creating!
-
Hey guys, thanks! Just got back from a festival and I will get back to work this week.
-
Oh yea, a great start on this lady. Love the Twi'leks!
-
Right now I have two commissioned figures in the works, which take priority, but when sculpting you always end up with a tad too much sculpey. So, I thought I'd start a new project (aaarggghhh!).
I don't know if you guys know of the Mexican 501st, but not too long ago, an extremely cool ST helmet mod showed up on their FB page. They call themselves the 501st Skull Garrison and rightfully figured they needed proper helmet designs to go with that.
Reference shot:

Early WIP by me:

-
Wow, this looks really awesome. I didn't know it existed. I can't wait to see you make this in AF Form. Off to share.
-
I saw that pic and thought it was really cool! Great idea to make a figure!
-
The skull helmet looks amazing and I can't wait to see the smaller version as well.
Ron
-
Thanks guys! Mind you, the 1:1 scale helmet is NOT mine, it's from the Mexican 501st.
Anyway, not much time lately for customizing, but I did manage to continue on my two commissioned Jedi:
Rachi Sitra: soft goods an sculpted clothing. Sleeve test, which I will definitely need to redo. This really won't do :)
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Rachi%20Sitra%20-%20Twilek%20Jedi%20Knight/rachisitrawip_09_zpsd751d672.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Rachi%20Sitra%20-%20Twilek%20Jedi%20Knight/rachisitrawip_09_zpsd751d672.jpg.html)
Ven Zallow: sculpted the belt and the chest belt. Placed magnets in the shoulder and shoulder pad. That way Ven can have his shoulder armour on with or without his cloak.

-
WoW these are looking fine!
-
What can I say Remco, all is sheer awesomeness. Time to go share. That lower belt work on Ven is just fantastic. Off to share.
-
Very nice customs. beautiful sculpting too.
-
That's mind-boggling! AMAZING sculpting!!! wish I could do that... :O
-
Really liking that ven zallow's armor sculpt great work! Can't wait to see more updates.
-
Man, I'm jealous of whoever's getting that Ven Zallow custom >:D
-
Great gallery! Very inspiring stuff here.
-
Fantastic sculpting on both, Remco !
-
Ven Zallow looks fantastic! I love WIP pics like this: shows what amazing techniques go into creating an awesome figure.
I just placed an order for the use of the rare earth magnets myself; it's amazing what can be done with those suckers.
Tis is shaping up to be one hell of a figure...looks great without even being finished!
-
Thanks guys! Sculpting's pretty much done, I'll be cleaning up both figures this week to prep them for painting.
-
Very cool customs can't wait to see the finished figures!
-
Stunning work yet again.
Ron
-
Both are looking really good Remco!
-
Thanks for the feedback, guys! Painting has begun, I will update soon enough ;D
In the meantime, I'd like to give a HUGE shoutout to Brian a.k.a. DarthDaddy. He created the Ewoks Kaink and Chukha Trok for me and boy, did he deliver! I am simply blown away by the quality and detail of these two little heroes of Endor!
Check out the pics!

Thanks Shawn! Taking pictures is just as much a part of the customizing process as assembly, painting, sculpting etc.

It's good to be back in painting mode:

-
This last update is crazy. The armor guy will be purely amazing.
-
Thanks, Blackthorne! I hope so. I will apply several layers of pale green wash on the armour. Hopefully the metallic look will still be visible, but with a green shade on it.
-
I agree with those who already commented. These are looking great. The soft goods on Rachi look perfect too btw. Off to share. It always good to see an update from Mr. Black.
-
Not to neglect the great detail on the armor, but nice soft goods there!
What material did you use to get that beautiful leather?
-
Can't wait to see the finished project.
-
Thanks guys!
Sjefke, the tan coloured softgoods are pieces of a shower curtain. A bit too rigid, in hind sight, but it'll do. The brown softgoods are snippets of an Anakin figure's tabbards. Gotta find out where Hasbro buys their fabric for this ;D
-
Both of those are shaping up nicely Mr. Black.
-
It's good to be back in painting mode:

I'm really liking the paint apps on these two especially Ven Zallow, I can't wait to see them completed.
Ron
-
Thanks, fellas!
Did some more work on Ven's armour. Mixed up a light shade of green, diluted that to a near wash consistancy and applied it to the armour. The pic doesn't really show it, but his armour now has a nice green metallic effect, without it being metallic green. Rachi is on hold, since I have to go out and buy some purple paint for her skin. Though it was blue. Colourblind, you know.
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Ven%20Zallow%20v3/venzallow3_wip_18_zpseb68e0fa.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Ven%20Zallow%20v3/venzallow3_wip_18_zpseb68e0fa.jpg.html)

Nice. I am enjoying your updates this week Remco. Off to share.
-
Very cool!
-
Awesome looking Ven! The sculpt and paint work is perfect! Can't wait to see him finished up.
-
These are looking really neat.
-
Getting there. Been painting the facial features on both Ven and Rachi:
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Ven%20Zallow%20v3/venzallow3_wip_20_zps4c026957.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Ven%20Zallow%20v3/venzallow3_wip_20_zps4c026957.jpg.html)
On the commissioner's request Ven's 5 o'clock shadow will be removed, so that he'll have a clean shaven look.

-
My comments are on the front page. Awesome work Remco.
-
Nice highlights on Duke's (sorry, Ven's) face. Not just the stubble. I mean the bright and dark areas. Rachi's looking good too. You can tell by your line work that you have a fine steady hand.
-
Oh yes, both are looking great! Really nice work on the skin tones on Ven.
-
Back in 2010 I made a commissioned diorama of the duel between Darth Malgus and Jedi Master Ven Zallow. Later on, I was asked to make another Ven Zallow and last year again someone wanted me to make a custom figure of this character.
Version 3 is quite different from the first two. The client wanted quite a few changes, most notably on the armour. This is the reference pic:
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Ven%20Zallow%20v3/Ven_Zallow_zps81f06b69.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Ven%20Zallow%20v3/Ven_Zallow_zps81f06b69.jpg.html)
And this is the custom figure:

This is a follow up from the same client who commissioned the Twi'lek smuggler. Turned out to be a very fun project to work on, with quite a bit more sculpting than anticipated at first.
Rachi Sitra is a Twi'lek character from the SW Galaxies Trading Card game: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rachi_Sitra (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rachi_Sitra)

Remco, just outstanding work and expect both to be featured here, but I will start with Ven.
I think about the only thing that would make the face more realistic is real hair. Just fantastic. It is spot on with your reference image.
The armor just looks highly detailed. I can't imagine how long it took to get each piece of it correct. Wow. I also liked your interpretation putting the armored shoulder pads on top of the soft goods. That soft goods cloak really is nice fabric too and really complements the overall offering. I can't even imagine you creating a new Darth Malgus and doing a new dio. I loved your first one, but it would be epic. Thank you for sharing this with us. Off to share.
I will leave my comments or your great Twilek Jedi soon too.
-
Remco, just outstanding work and expect both to be featured here, but I will start with Ven.
I second and third this!
-
This is the definitive version! Oh my you have knocked this Ven Zallow out of the park! Your other 2 were really nice, amazing how they keep getting better. The proportions are perfect, the paint work, soft goods, magnetic armor and saber hilt, such attention to detail that I could stare at for hours. Well done on both figures on all accounts but I LOVE this Ven! I tip my hat to you sir.
-
Awesome work on both figures mate.
Ron
-
Just featured Rachi Sitra. Remco your paint work on her skin tones alone is Houdinish. I love the leather and how all of the different colors blend together with this one. Just a great work of art. Thanks for sharing these two with us.
-
Thanks for the feedback, guys! Both Ven and Rachi are on their way to their new respective owners. For Rachi, I have included a little extra something, but will reveal that only after confirmation of receipt of the figure ;D
-
Just fantastic detail in both sculpting and painting.
Show us more, soon.
-
Thanks Sjefke and will do. Shipping should take about 12 - 15 days, so expect the extra pics to show up around then :)
Since this is my third version of Ven Zallow, I'd say it's time we turned on the top-sculptor beacon, because while Duke's head is pretty useful to represent Ven, a genuine Ven Zallow head is kind of mandatory at this point, wouldn't you say? ;D
-
a genuine Ven Zallow head is kind of mandatory at this point, wouldn't you say? ;D
Sounds like a great plan to me.
-
So I thought I'd pick up this Joeverse version of North (from Rise of the Guardians). Got a nice batch of goodies from http://vortiouscustomaccessories.ecrater.com/ including this trench coat for bigger figures.
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Various%20WIP/20140126_173327_zpsumv2svpm.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Various%20WIP/20140126_173327_zpsumv2svpm.jpg.html)
But guess what? I was asked to make this Jedi Master called Ven Zallow...... again! ;D
I'm already discussing with the client what details to change for this fourth version of him. Stay tuned!
-
Wow, someboday really likes Ven! The head reminds me of Gandalf. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this!
-
Yep, that's ol' Gandalf alright. Currently sculpting some bushy eyebrows on him, as well as adding more fur to his coat. All Greenstuff this time.
-
Here's a wip shot of the fourth version of Ven. This time I'll sculpt his shin armour as well, instead of just using the lower legs of that GI Joe Wraith figure.
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Ven%20Zallow%20v4/venzallow4wip_03_zpsc6ce4e4b.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Ven%20Zallow%20v4/venzallow4wip_03_zpsc6ce4e4b.jpg.html)
-
coming along nicely :)
-
Wow, this is gonna be the best one yet.
I think its your fault I can't seem to get away from the EU when you make great things like this!
Off to share.
-
Loving your figures. Have you an update on the skull troopers?
-
Loving your figures. Have you an update on the skull troopers?
Nope, haha! Man, I have so much stuff going on. Everything is in progress one way or another. Commissioned works are priority though. Ven Zallow is one of those, and I'm about to start on a Satele Shan and Quinlan Vos anytime soon. The skull trooper is my own project, so it'll have to wait :)
-
Something else this time: yesterday I received my Foldio portable light box from Orange Monkie. This was a Kickstarter campaign late last year and as a photography nut I decided to give it a shot (pun intended ;D). The idea was to create a handy lightbox for taking quality products pics with your smartphone.
Have a look here: https://www.facebook.com/orangemonkie
It's a bit pricey, but I have to say I'm very impressed with the final product. It's also one of those products that is brilliant due to simplicity. A typical "Geez, why didn't I think of that?" product :)
This will be a great tool for me to use when taking WIP shots of my customs. Normally, I'd just take a pic of the custom on the bench, or set up my other light box and take out my DSLR. This baby will be so much easier to use.
Have a look at some pics I took with my Samsung S4 Mini:

Wow, looks great. I so need something like this myself for close up pics. Just got a new camera, maybe I need something like this too.
-
I missed your posting of the work on ven4
Man, your sculpting is looking great.
-
Thanks Clint!
I don't know about you guys, but when I'm sculpting I always mix up too much Fixit to use on let's say Ven Zallow alone. So while I was working on him, I figured I'd start another couple of projects that need sculpting. First up are these two versions of Grand Admiral Thrawn, completely based on the 'poorman's customs' created a long time ago by fellow Yarder and Scummer DarthSinister. If you're unfamiliar with that work of his, do check out his threads at Rebelscum. Not only did he create these renditions of Thrawn, but he also made a range of SW Marvel characters.
This is DarthSinister's digital custom:
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Grand%20Admiral%20Thrawn/thrawng_zps54b98aa6.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Grand%20Admiral%20Thrawn/thrawng_zps54b98aa6.jpg.html)
And here's what I got so far:
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Grand%20Admiral%20Thrawn/GrandAdmiralThrawn_WIP_01_zpsfb3752f6.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Grand%20Admiral%20Thrawn/GrandAdmiralThrawn_WIP_01_zpsfb3752f6.jpg.html)
Head casts are from Starwarsgeek. Got some Comic Pack Thrawn head casts on the way from DocOutlands, though. I'll try out different head casts to see which captures the stature of a man like Thrawn best.
-
Holy cow! Those look great! They look exactly like the old photoshop customs I did. You nailed them. I can't wait to see them completed. Are you going to dye the soft good on the away mission Thrawn and if so with what?
Very cool, I'm honored my friend!
-
Those look great!! Can't wait to see head-shot comparisons. ;D
-
Those Thrawn customs are starting out looking cool!
-
Can't wait to see these Thrawns completed. Very impressive!
-
That work up on the trench coated thrawn is super sweet, Remco!
Can't wait to see him done.
-
what figure is that trenchcoat from?
Are you planning on rit dying it black?
-
Wow, these are great Remco. Very tough looking. Love those concepts of DS' too.
I would think that new Captain America Red Skull figure in trenchcoat would make a great body to use for one of these too.
Off to the front page with this.
-
Thanks fellas ;D I'll just paint the trenchcoat with diluted black acrylic paint or Games Workshop black ink. The figure itself will get a nice coat of Chaos Black spray paint.
The trenchcoat figure is the German motor cyclist from the Indiana Jones line.

New custom in the works! Mr. Vos this time, based on his appearance as his undercover alias Korto Vos.

You mean those vids by Spawnsauce? Yeah, they're great!
This removable armour thing I picked up from Dayton, though ;D

Voss is looking great already and the removale armour is awesome, I also can't wait for you to complete Thrawn as the black uniform looks execellent..

Finally a little update. Lots of things got in the way of customizing these past few months, but I'm back. Got some catching up to do on commissioned pieces, amongst which these two. I can only say thank you to my clients for their immeasurable patience.

Wow, your armor sculpting is just superb Remco. Off to share.
-
Love the sculpt work. I need to brush up my sculpt skills, because hot dang, that is awesome.
-
I love it! I use FixIt and have trouble manipulating it so it's not my go to sculpting material, looks like you got it down-pat! I wish I could get the symmetry you've got going on there, that's hard to do.
I missed that Quin-lon. What are you using to keep the FixIt from sticking to the figure? I've done removable armor but never used the FixIt for that reason.
-

Thanks Shawn. I've become quite familiar with sculpting armour and I'm glad it shows.
Love the sculpt work. I need to brush up my sculpt skills, because hot dang, that is awesome.
Thanks, Bronxstalker. It's all about practice and patience and willing to completely scratch your work and start over again ;)

Thanks man. When I first started sculpting I was impatient. I would mix way too much compound, slap it on and start adding details. And I just kept wondering why it wouldn't hold its shape. Frustrated I lit the Sithfire beacon and he showed me the way of the Four-Hour-Curing-Stage :D Now, that's not a rule set in stone, because I find working in a three hour stage more comfortable. The trick is to wait 20-30 minutes after mixing, then apply it on your custom and roughly shape it the way you want it. Let it settle for another 30-45 minutes. Then fine tune the general shape of the area and work on some rough details. Another 30-45 minutes later, apply the final details. The next day you can sand it, if needed.
As for removable armour, that's another trick I learned from Dayton. Here's how I applied his teachings: after the first hour after mixing, I flatten the mixed batch of sculpting compound. Again, let it rest for quite some time, till its still pliable, yet hardly sticky. Then cut out the desired shape and apply it gently on your custom, carefully adjusting the shape to form itself around the area. If you need to add recessed details (such as the lines you can see on Ven Zallow's armour), do so. Let it fully cure and sand it down the next day untill you feel it has the thickness you want. After that, you can add details, such as raised areas (like Ven's belt buckle).
However, sometimes I also use cling wrap/plastic wrap on the area I want to sculpt on. With this I can work a little faster, since I don't have to wait for the stickyness to almost complete wear off.
-
Thanks, I'll try following some of those timing restrictions.
My problem is always trying to rush the timing, and I tend to start using the apoxie maybe only 15 minutes of cure time.
-
Wow! Great sculpting work! I am truly impressed! Can't wait to see more :D
-
Thanks guys!
Right now I'm super stoked. As you know, I'm currently working on Ven Zallow v4. Well, I've been asked to make another one. Number 5. And another one. Number 6. Plus a few other commissions, so I'm fully booked till early 2015 ;D
-
So I've been using Sculpy as my primary sculpting material. You're using Fixit? How long does that take to cure?
I wonder if I could bake sculpy onto my figure parts without melting them.
-
So I've been using Sculpy as my primary sculpting material. You're using Fixit? How long does that take to cure?

I personally use Apoxie Sculpt, although I wish I had bought fix-it as I heard it's better...I just didn't know at the time, and thought apoxie sculpt and fix it were the same.
As for sculpy, that's I first used when I got into customizing. In my experience, depending on the figure, you could bake the sculpy on without melting the figure, but that was on Marvel Legend figures, softer plastic like on star wars figures might melt. Also, I found that after baking, the figures were never the same, loose, wouldn't stand straight, etc. Also, you'd ideally want to sculpt little by little, which means you'd be baking several times. On top of all that, I find that sculpty once baked, looks like clay on the figure, which is exactly what it is, a type of clay. With the Aves product, you can build on your figure little by little, and the end result is a strong rock hard piece, that if smoothed properly, is so smooth, you could confuse it for plastic.
I find the total cure time to be sometime after 5 hours or so, but even before then, it's pretty hard and tough to work with.
Within the first 2 hours is when you want to really get in details...at least that's my experience, although honestly, I've never timed it, so I could be off.
-
I've never used sculpey. I got into sculpting when Sithfire, Ruprecht and others were switching to using Fixit Sculpt. By the way, I don't think many people here have heard of Ruprecht, but he's the guy who made these:
(https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1325/979237449_b508c3819d_z.jpg?zz=1) (https://flic.kr/p/2uwRbi)Ordo6 (https://flic.kr/p/2uwRbi) by CreeBoPeep (https://www.flickr.com/people/37612862@N00/), on Flickr

But yeah, the curing time is 4-5 hours and the second and third hour are best for working the Fixit patch you've mixed. It depends on room temperature as well. In my experience I need to work quite a bit faster when it's really hot in the summer. Much less so in the winter.
-
Thanks for the great response, Bronxstalker!

Took some quick shots of how I modified my 6 inch Clone Trooper, so that he can actually look up a bit and really bend his arm quite a bit further.

Remco, thank you so much for showing us how to do this. That is awesome! Off to share.
-
Glad to be of service, Tamer. The shoulder pads are next. These really get in the way of properly lifting the arms. I'm not sure whether to sand off some underneath the upper body armour's straps, or sand down the shoulder pads instead.
-
Wow! I wasn't planning on getting the clone but now I want him and I have all kinds of customizing ideas flowing in my head. Thanks for sharing this, think I might cut out all the extra material in the helmet. ()rr
-
Yep, already saw a Wolffe on the 6 inch Collector's Facebook page and I have started on an Alpha ARC:
I won't dremel out the helmet to make it removable, because there's not enough room to make it fit over the head I used. Besides, I'm not a fan of removable helmets, but like to create the illussion of my figure's having one ;)
-
Wow, that head is INTIMIDATING! Who did that come from?

Oh yeah, keep it going Remco. Back to the front page.

Thanks for the FP mention, Tamer :) My three comissioned figures are in in various stages of sculpting, so while the Fixit is curing I'm working on Alpha.
I found a pretty wicked Alpha costume build on thedentedhelmet.com and want to try this for his helmet:
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Alpha-17%20ARC%20Trooper%206%20inch/100_2103_zps7a21f85a.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Alpha-17%20ARC%20Trooper%206%20inch/100_2103_zps7a21f85a.jpg.html)
Here's the thread of that particular build:

Update on Satele Shan. Got off to a bad start, but now she's coming along nicely:

And here's shot of the sculpting stage on the 6 inch Alpha ARC:

Nice Remco.
I must admit I just lost a few minutes looking at that fantastic ARC Build. Can't wait to see you do this for that six inch Trooper. That Rangefinder alone is gonna be a cool part.
Back to the front page.

That Quinlan Vos headsculpt looks suspiciously like Kyle MacLachlan. I approve!

LOL, he does indeed!

Update on my 6 inch Alpha ARC. Sculpting on the upper body is almost complete. Then it's on to modifying the legs.

(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Alpha-17%20ARC%20Trooper%206%20inch/alphaarc_wip_04_zps520b3882.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Alpha-17%20ARC%20Trooper%206%20inch/alphaarc_wip_04_zps520b3882.jpg.html)
Figuring out how to create the range finder. I'll use a tiny piece of clear acrylic sheet in which I will fix a neodymium magnet. The magnet in the picture is too big, though, at 2x1mm. Ordered a bunch of 1x0.5mm magnets off eBay, which will be perfect.
(http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx49/incomscustoms/Alpha-17%20ARC%20Trooper%206%20inch/alphaarc_wip_05_zpsa67fe94a.jpg) (http://s740.photobucket.com/user/incomscustoms/media/Alpha-17%20ARC%20Trooper%206%20inch/alphaarc_wip_05_zpsa67fe94a.jpg.html)

Just though about what I have to sculpt, make, modify to turn that whimpy Clone Trooper into Alpha:
- range finder
- upper left arm: small pouches
- lower left arm: gauntlet
- upper torso front: ammo packs
- power unit for the gauntlet
- upper left and right leg: wrappings
- lower left and right leg: straps
- right shoulder plate
- 2x hip pouches
- 2x hip ammo boxes
- kama
- bandolier
- pauldron
- ammo clips (attached to the right side of the pauldron)
- 2x holsters
- 2x ARC pistols
- Westar M5 blaster rifle
- knife
- knife sheath
- various straps and fasteners
Good to have a list I can scratch things of off once they're done....
-
Wow, that sculpting is looking great. Love that helmet wip too. Off to share.
Man, just a ton of work left.
-
Yowza! That's looking awesome! Can't wait to see it finished.
-
Damn impressive work mate, your sculpting is stunning.
Ron

Made this in photoshop this morning. I've got a few more ideas like this, but I'm not sure when I'll make those. So for now, I'll just post it in this thread, instead of creating a graphic art thread:

Original movie poster:
(http://www.filmhoek.nl/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/12-years-a-slave-poster.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/p5rxUD)
-
Great shot! Reminds me of the Catch Me If You Can poster, just need Han chasing him like Leo and Tom Hanks. I really enjoyed browsing your custom work, good stuff!
-
Thanks, I have placed a picture of the original poster as well.
Catch me if you can? That's a great idea! Instead of Han chasing Chewie, how about Boba chasing Han? :)
-
Ha! Yes, a far better idea!
-
What a great idea. yeah, if you start to make a bunch of these please do create a section in the graphic artwork thread so we can showcase them all and keep them separated from your custom action figure work.
Off to share.
-
I might just do that, Tamer, thanks. Definitely want to make that Catch Me If You Can version and a Ghostbusters poster too. Got a great idea for that ;D
-
If that doesn't translate to 12 Parsecs a Slave, I'm going to be disappointed. ;D
-
If that doesn't translate to 12 Parsecs a Slave, I'm going to be disappointed. ;D
Sorry to disappoint you then ;) It reads "12 years a slave". Besides, a parsec is a measurement unit.... :p
-
That is true, but it still would have made for a great pun. ;D

Final WIP update on mr. Vos:

Sculpting on mr. Zallow nearly complete, only need to add a pouch to his left thigh. Shoulder pads connect to the shoulders with neodymium magnets.

Before I forget, I received my teenie weenie tiny magnets and used two of them for Alpha's range finder. Each magnet measures 1 x 0.5mm....

Wow, now thats small. What a cool way to use em though, looks fantastic. Off to share.
-
Wow, beautiful sculpting on that Vos custom! Love your ideas on the Alpha Clone and Zallow is looking like the best version to date!
-
That mount is brilliant!
-
Cool, where can you get those magnets?
-
Cool. I bought some different sized magnets not to long ago and I thought I had a small one but yours takes the cake. I can't even handle the small magnets I need a pair of plastic tweezers!

Wow, that is one cool banner. How did you do that to the text? A background of sorts imposed over the text?
Off to share.

Thanks, bud! The "text behind picture" is just a Photoshop trick. You can do this in various ways. I just type the text, add a gradient layer (or adjustment, not sure what the English term is) and use the eraser to take away the text that's overlapping the subject.

Finished editing the pictures and sent off Quinlan to his new home. Here's a couple of full frame shots:

It's been a while, but I guess I'm back in the game. First up is Ven Zallow v4, a commissioned figure that took way too long to complete. Luckily, the commissioner was very patient and understanding. This is his second Ven Zallow figure by me, actually, having version 2 already in his possession.
Here are a few shots of Ven Zallow v4:

For comparison, here's version 2, which I made in 2012:

Like I said, I'm back at my customizing table whenever I can, continuing work on Satele Shan, Sith Lord Adraas and Ven Zallow v5 (and maybe even v6...)
As always, please check out my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/mrblackscustoms and become a fan! :D

Dude, I just need to ask.....how do you get your lines so sharp on the sculpt? Do you sculpt them prior to being fully cured, or do you blob on the epoxie, and when dried, sand it/cut it down to shape?
-
Thanks man! Most of the time I add these lines in the final stage of curing. I nearly always need to sand down the sculpted parts, so I make the lines a bit deeper than they need to be. After sanding, I clean up the lines with an old tooth brush and go over them once more with a scribing tool.

When you say scribing tool, do you mean like a dremel?
-
Wow, that looks awesome. It looks even better on the front page.
-
Wow!! That's incredible!! :o
-
Thanks for the feedback and the fp post!
No, just a regular scribe tool. It's basically a pencil with a metal point.

Amanzing job great work on the sculpt, and the cape looks good

Awesome Zallow! Love the detail to your sculpts.

I made a small addition to Ven Zallow v4:
(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8719/16399018354_6ab01ac173_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/qZ8fPL)ven zallow v4_16 (https://flic.kr/p/qZ8fPL) by Mr. Black's Customs (https://www.flickr.com/people/115772447@N08/), on Flickr
Satele Shan is coming along nicely as well. Feet and hands will be replaced by more suitable ones and I need to touch up the hair a bit. Very happy with how she's progressing:
(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7627/16835375159_d981726f29_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/rDFGuX)
Version 5 of Ven Zallow is also in the works. Here's what he looks like so far:
(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7589/16835435739_56ab8b169f_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/rDG1vr)
Thanks to Vortious Custom Accessories, I now have a couple of Stocos' Sith Acolyte head casts. I've been asked to make such a character (a.k.a. Sith Lord Adraas) as a trade for the big Slave I vehicle, which I was looking for.
(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8707/17021713195_bef3558bf2_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/rW9JiH)
Add to that version 6 of Ven Zallow, which I will start with one of these days, as well as another Adraas figure. Then there's the dozen personal projects, which will remain on the backburner for a while longer.
And since I'm so good at starting projects, I have decided to make a custom figure of a dear friend of mine. For which I have just received a handful of Playmobil cats. These are in a close anough scale to 1:18 action figures.
-
Wow, loving that Satele. Time to drop a mountain on ole Malgy! Off to share.
-
You know I love your sharp lines on your sculpt work. Awesome.
That lord adraas is going to be hot.
-
Another long break, but now that summer's over I have picked up the pace again. First up is a custom action figure of a friend of mine. This idea just came up a while ago and once I started working on the figure, it came along just perfectly. She has three cats, for which I used Playmobil cats. I'm happy to say she was very pleasantly surprised by my gift :)

What a great gift idea. Looks great Remco. Off to share.

Hey guys, been way too long :( Hope everyone's doing alright. Due to private circumstances I've had to step away from the customizing and collecting community. Unfortunately that also meant I had to put my commissions on hold for the time being. I just wanted to say that my clients are very understanding for which I sincerely thank them.
Things are looking up though. I've recently moved and am currently quite busy remodelling my new place. On top of that, my new employer has offered me an open ended contract, which is a great certainty for the future.
I am very much looking forward to Celebration Europe III in London, this July. And I expect to be back in the customizing and collecting game by that time, too. Packing up my collection and customizing projects really made me realize that Star Wars was, is and always will be a very important part of my life.
I'm anxious to get in touch with all of you again and to contributing to the Yards.
-
Everything looks great
-
Good to hear your doing well Remco. Thanks for checking in.
-
Wow!!! Great sculpting!!
-
Once again, a long hiatus is behind me and I'm back at it. Actually, my return to this great world and community was motivated by fellow Yarder and customizer bornvirgo93 who contacted me about a new commissioned figure Aayla Secura, as seen in the Republic comics. Currently sculpting like crazy on an amazing HACKS female body he supplied:

For now, I'll just post updates on my Instagram account (@mrblackscustoms) and of course here at the yards :)
-
Now this is even better news. So great to see new custom work from you Remco. Off to share.
-
looking forward to your Aayla!
Also spotted Satele Shan and she looks gorgeous! Great work
-
Thanks guys! Working on one project at a time right now, which should work much better.

Early 2019 it became known that the Dutch EchoBase foundation would hold a special Star Wars charity con in December. All proceeds of the convention would go to the Dutch foundation KiKa (Children Cancer free). I immediately got in touch with the organisation and shared my idea of making a special custom figure for this awesome cause.
Last Saturday the convention was held and it was a fun small scaled event. I am super proud to share the final winning bid for my custom figure came in at a whopping 120 euros (roughly 130 USD)!.
So, not without some sense of pride, here's the figure I made, a repaint of K2-SO in the colours of the KiKa foundation, aptly renamed K1-KA :)

The idea behind this paint scheme is that K1-KA is a droid of the foundation which visits the sick children and entertains them, ofr instance by letting them paint and draw all kinds of stuff on him.
It was an absolute honour to work on this and I am definitely up for future projects like this.
-
What a great way to collect money for the KiKa foundation.
The figure looks phenomenal and is worth every penny of the 120€.
You can be proud of yourself.
-
Great job all the way around. Off to the front pages.
-
Had a bit of catching up to do and damn mate your figures look awesome, keep up the amazing work.
Ron
-
That's really cool. Great work for a great cause, and congratulations on the price. The figure is top notch!
-
Really cool paint work here! I definitely can see ppost-Imperial droids being repainted and converted to do stuff less damaging to the galaxy. Even more so, the fact this benefits charity makes me so happy. Great work!
-
Amazing work! Awesome that its for charity as well !
-
Beautiful work ... very original take. He would look good in some kind of graffitied playground diorama.
