Same here. Did I understand correctly that national television programs need to reach millions of viewers, whereas cable tv shows don't necessarily? So, it's either going for the masses or going for quality tv, right? And Rick said they were trying to keep the costs low, right? Doesn't bode well for a quality live action tv series... :( But hey, it's SW and I'm a junkie :D

star trekk worked if done right sw can , reason why star trekk worked for me was char development something lucas isnt strong at, so we'll need some good writers that will stand up to him when he starts going

This is something I think Lucas might have learned after his Clone Wars t.v. venture.  George likes having creative control over his properties, but I think maybe he's learned to compromise a little with guys like Dave Filoni and the crew behind CW.  Lucas has let others write and develop some amazing story arcs and characters for the show and it has paid off in a big way in my opinion.  I think it can work and should definitely be given the opportunity.

I'll be the first to admit it's not all perfect.  I know a lot of people were upset with the way Mandalore/Mandalorians were treated after all the established canon of Karen Traviss.  That being said, I still think their successes far outweigh the negatives as far as the series as a whole.  Just remember at the end of the day, Filoni and the whole CW team have to have Big Papa George's approval of everything that goes into the show.  ;)
