CUSTOM FODDER FINDS
« on: June 07, 2011, 04:17:13 PM »
Guys as an avid vehicle customiser I am always on the lookout for new vehicles to pull apart and re-imagine.

I thought I'd start a post where we can share ideas and vehicle/parts finds....Please feel free to let us know about any e/bay or similar fodder finds....

I found these today, not 100% sure they are to scale with Star Wars figures, so can anyone verify? They are from a toy range called Starcom...

I guess the first one could be made into a loading droid of the scale is too small for a figure to fit...

Those look pretty cool. I guess if that second one was in too small of a scale, you could cut a droid socket for it to be a astromech operated recon/utility vehicle.

Wow, is that a glow in the dark cannon on that second ship?

Not sure..but the 1st one is of interest as it will go with the Security Vehicle I've just created!!!

The vehicle has fold down arms and little wings with engines that pop out the sides, the front canopy also pops forward.

These are NOT SW scale. Starcom utilized figures that were less than 2" tall so there is no way that these could be modified to fit SW figs, sorry :(

Yea I figured that the scale was out... The first one however would make a great dock loader droid!

The LASER FORCE line is in-scale...

http://www.virtualtoychest.com/l/laserforce/laserforce.html

...I made my first Star Wars and GI Joe customs with these around 95-96.
They can get pricey if in good shape nowadays... but for fodder you'd want some junky ones.

Also, some other fodder to think of...
Lanard's STAR FORCE are cheap and plentiful especially in the UK & EU.
Also in scale.
here's one of the more notable pieces...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Lanard-Star-Force-Space-Shuttle-Launch-play-set-/280692426856?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415a928868
...they also made a lunar lander and space capsule which i've always wanted to customize.

I've had a huge amount of luck hitting the discount bins at my local model shop, getting tons of kits for little parts and pieces for cheap.  I also got 50-75% off for cracked or damaged styrene, which has saved me some cash too, all I did was ask at the counter and the guy gave me an amazing deal!

I've also been buying any and all of the recent movie-GI JOE vehicles I find for cheap as they can make good starting points for customs...

I'll add some more when I get home tonight...

HB94 I wold want the first one for the payload piece alone... that would be a great piece of filler for any dio hanger!! the lifter droid idea is simply perfect too. I wish I had 1) room for the hanger dio i want to build and 2) the skills to build it the way I want it to look lol!!

On Wednesday I took my girls to Burger King and got em' both kid's meals. The new toys are mini super soaker guns. They reminded me of the little piece that screaming samurai used on his land speeder.   They're really cool shapes the only problem is they're molded with the super soaker logo on the side. That could be sanded off with a dremel.

Take a peak...

Cool little fodder pieces.

A how too movie would be awesome Hnagerbay but the problem is I would want to keep it set up all the time and that's the trouble... no room for that. I want it to house at least 4 X-Wings 2 A-Wings a B-wing and a Y-Wing at the same time along with filler pieces ... that's alot of space needed.

Still I would love a how too on your hangerbay setup as its close to the image I have in my head. Instead of the rusty colors you have I envision more of an Imperial gray color scheme more like the flight deck of a ship of the line as seen in ROJ when Han gives Lando permission to not scratch the Falcon, LOL!
