Title: Narceron's Custom Figures
Post by: narceron on May 21, 2009, 08:54:12 AM
I like V, I like toys, so I thought I'd try my hand at them.  This is a copy of the post from the ST6 boards where clonehead rescued me, lol.

I love the look of the imperial navy, but can't fit star wars into my toyverse, so I thought, why not combine them.

This is the Sirian Imperial Navy, :)

Well, scientific expeditionary force, I think, technically.

We come in Peace.

Friendship is Universal.

I ran into a few problems, the primer I tried was crap, either that or it doesn't work in humidity.  I'll be going back to grey, :)

Second, this symbol, (http://www.coyote-custom.com/agora/html/images//scifi/visitors.gif)  is kind of beyond my ability for some reason.  Usually I would just use my micron pen, but it ate through the primer, lol, too sharp, might need to get a larger one, :)

Anyway, I'm happy with them as starts, but hopefully I'll be able to get some assistance with refining them from the talented members here.  I don't want those lame leather vests, I'd like to keep the look of the Empire, but everything else from the Visitors.

I need to find a way to add their stripes and rank stuff, too, but like I said, these are just starter figures to get me going.

I have a ton of imperial figures that need to be made into these guys, :)

Not as sold on those helmets as I once was, and now Dion has me wanting better weapons.

Eventually, I hope they make a 25a figure I can use as a base, then I can say I've changed everything, you  know, eventually, :)

did find one thing I like, the armor.

I think it makes them look more movie appropriate.

Linkie? How about link for i have never seen these guns before.

I really like your Imperial troopers converted to soldiers from the V tv series, Simon. That was a pretty cool idea and you are right. They work perfect for that. I like those Death Star troopers with the extra body armor. Now I know why you like the clone training armor, so much.
Nice job, buddy. Show us more please.

Marauder john is the coolest guy you'll ever meet, down to earth, fun, and actually interested in what his customers say.

I met him at the Canadian Joe meet, :)

Make sure you mention that Narceron sent ya and that you think Visitor weapons would be super cool, lol.

:)

I've conversed with him by email before and agree!  And yeah - I have that link bookmarked.  Good-lookin stuff, he has!  I need to get my notes out and go back over what he has and has added, so that I can work up some good stuff.

"John, Narceron (gave me a sweet Visitor custom and told me he) wanted me to tell you I love your stuff and think Visitor weapons would be GREAT!!"

Daggone, I loved the V series when it came out. I can still remember my mom trying to make me turn it off after they started eating rats and that little baby with the tongue! That was a cool Sci Fi Series. I had almost forgotten about it. Wasn't Diana the really bad gal in the first run?

It was a made for tv sci fi movie and tv series in the early 80s. A long time ago.

yeah, the original was made by, umm, kenneth, errr, crap.

Anyway, the follow up movie and series were done by NBC guys, or whoever aired it.

Basically, giant motherships descend on the earth putting ships over every major signal, they then broadcast a code, we come in peace, that sort of thing.

They look human, but have different dietary needs, :)

not bad for being made in what, 83?

I painted up another one of these guys today, I really need to find a way to knock out the other 16 or so I'm doing and get a smooth finish.

I am eager to try the water bubble method I learned about on here.

Anyone have any ideas on making a shuttle for them?

are you going to make any of the reptilian version of the visitors narc?  you might be able to use a bossk head for them.

Need help with female fit.

I am currently trying to finish up a female adventurer, using the mariss brood torso.  I am trying to find arms that are small enough to be female and also might pass as having sleeves, like from a jacket.

any ideas?  I don't have the mariss brood arms, they got eaten, :)

Ok, 8after* the crude joke that would fit in better over on banthaskull.com, my next thoughts were:

Bultar Swann - comic pack
Mara Jade - comic pack
Dark Woman - comic pack

They are all out in the shop while I am inisde in the air-conditioning, or I'd give them a better look-over.

those are probably good choices.  Any of the better padme sculpts would probably fit.  with some modification gi-joe scarlet's arms MIGHT work... it'd take some retooling of the joint though.

I have an old maris brood that I'm not going to use would you want it?  it's been coated in realy crappy green enamel paint... but that can be removed with a rag and a little terpentine without damaging the figure (I had to repaint another figure that I'd used enamels on and I used the same process).  If you want to shoot me an e-mail with your addy we can work something out.

yeah, spuda, i will get it off of ya, segnett and I are still planning on coming up to see you, though he is dodging me these days,  vadsab

This is what I have so far, the belt and torso look better when held in place, so glue should work there.

I was making her for the NVS(narceron vs segnett) challenge he and I had on the ST6 boards, but he's apparently given up, so I want to make sure I finish them.

Actually, she is team member for my coruscant regada(ask spuda) team, I have her as a pilot for that challenge, this is her autograph/adventurer look, lol.

Maybe I can post her with her droid and what not for the teams on yakface, that would be neat.

so far..spuda(our lovely host), narceron, segnett, Chris the toy seller, jestyr and sourkraut(my two cronies), and I'm sure I can pull a couple more guys off the boards that live within 90 miles, :)

A one day fest will  bring more, but spuda has plans to host a weekend, so the elect few will have a bigger opportunity for customizing, :)

Well my plan is to have a single day for everyone to come hang out and be welcome... but for the ones that want to do more have at least 2 days planned.

That's more than my tiny duplex will hold that's for sure.  I'll probably be able to comandeer one of the rooms at school for us in the geoscience department....   I'll have to check with the secretary (my boss) first though.

I also have another SW custom in the works, I think I'll try and finish him up, today.

here is the write up, in works, for him(granted, I put cmdr chapel, its a stand in til I figure out another name).

EXCERPT(Communication from CMDR Chapel to CMDR Fox)

As I have stated previously, Trooper Solo(CH-1977) has been a problem since even before he was born.  A genetic abnomality caused his obvious difference from the standard trooper.  This lead to his feelings of betrayal by his brothers.  While he has excelled at tactical training, marksmanship, and personal combat, he has routinely suffered lower scores on his leadership and interpersonal assesments.  His name, Solo, comes from his need to work alone and prove himself constantly.  This has not been a problem in the past, in fact, he has been an asset on many missions and deployments.  We have even overlooked his use of non standard equipment and his maintaining of original gear and alternate armor configurations.

However, Recently, he has operated his own agenda here on coruscant and has come to the attention of local authorities.  I know your men are tasked with protecting the city from invasion, but in this case, I would not feel comfortable sending civilians to bring him in for questioning.  It is for this reason, that I am issuing an order to the Coruscant Guard to bring him in.  I do not forsee any resistance on his part, but should he decide to test  you, you are authorized to terminate him.

CMDR Chapel

Freeze, You are under arrest for violence and crimes committed on coruscant!

Take it easy, guys, I think if you contact the Chancellor's office, you'll find. . .

For all my actions. . .I have been granted Sanction.

Now, I just need to find the right clone wars figure to base him on.

I don't know a lot about the SW verse. . .yet.

In my joe verse, sanction is Duke's kid, fed up with all his dads superficial crap he joins cobra and become a bad ass enforcer for the commander(Don't worry, cobra is very different the way I play them, lol).

I figure I'm gonna have a shady type actually commanding him, maybe a high ranking member of the chancelor's staff, or even the big man himself.

I'm going to do him up as the champion of my coruscant guard army, so that will be fun.

I'd also like to do an OT custom of him, maybe as an aged agent nearing the end of his time.

I apologize if this offends anyone, but that female adventurer figure looks like an angry man-hating German lesbian who cut off a native american's arms and attached them to herself  :D   In all seriousness though, I think it would look best to have arms without sleeves, since she seems to be going for the exposed skin look... Also, maybe some goggles up on her forehead (like from Sandstorm Scene Luke) might be good for the adventurer look, or a hat or something. Hmm... looking at her, I think darker eyebrows would make the face look less children-of-the-corn-ish. Also she looks like she needs a swoop, for sure. (Durge's swoop is pretty awesome if you can get your hands on it!). Hope that helps! You should come check out my customs and rip into 'em a bit too, I always like input.

Lol, the magical stuff that is Sculpey! Bought some the other day that I've yet to try out, but I've heard good things about it... Apparently curing it in boiling water instead of an oven keeps the figure from melting, you should give it a shot!

hmmm never though about doing that XV.  I've always used Apoxi-sculpt.  It's a two part self hardening clay.  before it starts to harden (which is usually about an hour or two after mixing) you can sculpt and mold it just like clay.   Best thing about it is that you don't have to heat it up to cure it!

you remember the twi-lek figure dawn made?  all the "enhancements" to those figs were done using apoxi-sculpt.  I definately recomend it.

This is my tenth posted custom this year, thats one a month, lol.

This has been in my WIP bin for months.  I just couldn't get the belt to be removable, so I glued it in.

So, generic swat guy, needs a cool name like Breach or Street Sweeper, lol.  Inspired by HE's wicked SWAT team from years back.

The flash/lighting kills some of his drybrushing to make it look more splotchy than it is, but I didn't feel like setting up the lights or waiting for the daylight< :)

I love te latest custom, he kind of reminds me of a Federation Guard from Blakes7, oh if only someone could do one of those, that would be so awesome.

I don't think the drybrushing is that overpowering, I'm betting the camera makes it look more obvious than it is on the actual custom.  Very cool work, man

British Sci fi from the 70's if I recall correctly.

I've used one of Hawkeye's suggestions to tone down my drybrushing.
