Personally, I like the bottom version better - I'm not a fan of wheeled SW vehicles.  HOWEVER - sitting on the wheeled base, it does look like a TCW vehicle.  It definitely needs the side-boxes, I think.  Or else something in their place.

I decided to lose the wheeled base for this piece. I have a few planned and got 2 more super cheap on eBay this week, so I can revisit the wheeled concept later.

Here is where I am at now. I went back to the standard base, kept the side boxes, and added some bits and styrene to try and replicate the simple styled details on top. This was planned for the 212th, but the orange is a little light for those guys. I tried some more new weathering techniques that didn't work out too well, and I pulled off the mask when the paint was still a bit fragile. I am hoping I can repair it all when I do the final weathering with a toothbrush, drybrush and airbrush. I'm going to let it dry out a bit tonight and return to it tomorrow.

I finished the 212th transport tank. This is the second or third piece I have done lately where I was apprehensive at first, but happy with it after weathering.

The weathering was a light wipe of watered down black ink, followed by a dry brushing of Sky Gray, then a light brushing of silver, I didn't want to kill the masked "paint chips". Then a toothbrush and stick for "road spatter", hit with an air brush to get some blaster marks and light shading, and finally hit with Krylon Matte and a hair dryer. there are still some awkward spots I'm not in love with, but done is done. I love the turret, it almost reminds me of a Bradley turret.

Oh that just works so damn well! I am also a fan of the old vintage transport, and I have to admit, you have trumped all other custom versions....

I did mention that I have an unhealthy obsession with the vintage Imperial transport.

This is another WIP Clone Transport. I'm planning to use it for the 41st Elite Corps, along with the Clone Spec Ops group I am working on. Eventually, the color scheme with be a 2 tone green with some black and camo, similar to commander gree.

Combining the AT-AP cockpit with the vintage imperial transport called for some pretty extensive styrene refitting, strengthening, and a lot of glue. Also, the obvious difference in detailing from the AT-AP to the Imp transport left me with little option but to try and replicate some of the details with styrene and bits. i still have a ling way to go there. The turret, built from 2 AT-AP guns and a vintage GI joe Persuader cannon bucket, was a lot of styrene work and glue by itself. It is fixed and won';t elevate, but I still like the look and think it adds to the overall feel of this piece.

What's interesting is that your modified cockpit now makes this look a lot like the prototype version! Awesome work!
