Thank you so much for providing all the info on the game! I didn't take the time to do so.
I agree with your comment on the frontpage! Space battles are what made Star Wars videogames GREAT back in the 80/90s. Arcade games were big and when the first consoles came out Star Wars set milestones, too.
As far as we can tell right now, Squadrons will be no different. I got the strong impression that it will be another mile stone to VR experience. Associations with TOP GUN come to mind. Can't wait to see actual footage of the game, but it looks promising so far. Let's hope they'll add the 3rd person perspective with an update later on. Many fans want them to. But maybe they did this on purpose to make it feel like a flight simulator. It'll be good I think! I hope they'll stick to the era of the Empire. No more First Order & Resistance crap, but that's just my opinion.

I want to get this. It's been out for a year now and from what I understand it's not super popular the servers are still active, but I wonder for how long. This is why I don't get into modern games. Fortunately there is offline gameplay, with the campaign and AI freeplay. I'm looking to get a gaming laptop, with thrustmaster joystick controls. Im not a gamer but it might be fun to get. I've been watching YouTube videos on it, and it looks awesome, but it can get redundant doing the same type of missions over and over. It's pretty much set up for VR headsets, that's why they won't do 3rd person play.  I think recently they added B-wing and TIE  defender, but I don't think there will be any further upgrades.

I loved the old flight sim games and still have them actually. I even have a windows 95 comp to play them, but it doesn't have sound now.

I think this would be fun.
