Post by: maunster on October 27, 2009, 04:35:38 PM
I need some help with some color schemes for some customs.

nice looking start buddy.
I'm seeing  a medium to dark olive and black on the undercoverings of the hybrid biker scout with medium brown on the armor for some reason.

Yes Clint's ideas sound good.  for the Scout if you are trying to keep the red under suit, i would give it a black wash. The use tan armor with grey accents or grey armor with black accents. The RC is wide open I guess, I too am contemplating a RC repaint.

YES! someone else is doing joe torso swaps... did you happen to watch my video on youtube or did you come up with this on your own!? either way it's awesome!

I'm loving the colors on the hybrid scout.  The red undercloth is perfect.  Paint the helmet white and then give the entire thing some good dark weathering, and some scortch marks from the flame thrower.

Using the cobra CLAW on a star wars fig has been something I've been wanting to do for a long long time... just never had an extra claw.  I would personally use a different figure than the RC for it though... but that is just my personal preference as I don't care for the RC's....

I'm glad you like them. I watched your video. Very, very helpful.
The only thing I did different was  I inverted the clone knee joint so he would be the same size as the other clones.
The CLAW I bought several just to use for customs.  The RC is actually going to be part of a covert squad.

inverted the knee?  like turned it around? or shaved more off of it?  I'm not following you, BUT I am glad that my tutorial helped.  I think your the first one (other than narceron who has yet to produce photos of his claim!) that I know of who has used my tutorial to create a similar custom.  And the best part is... you didn't copy it exactly! AND THAT ROCKS!

anyway, as for the recon RC with the CLAW... I did this figure based on that same concept a while back, he might give you some ideas:

he's somewhere in my customs thread... and he's on around page 20 in my deviant art gallery right now...  Go check it out if you have the time and you don't want to have to read through all the posts in my thread, all the stuff in my thread pluss some is on my deviant art page:  http://spudafett.deviantart.com/gallery/

Hey Spud,
On your tutorial  page I posted a picture of what I did to the knees.

just saw it, briliant idea with the knees.  the pics showed exactly what you meant.  Ingenious, I can't say that enough.  I might even have to try that on my next figure....
