Did you use Testors Dullcote on your Mando?

I use Marabu Mattlack, that's similar to Testor's Dullcoat, but industrial strength, not for modelling paints.

Thanks a lot for all the praise, guys! I really appreciate your opinions.

I really like the straight forward clean look of this one, Volker! Nice dull colors without a bit of sheen.
To answer your question,no, I don't use a sealant on my figures as after they are done, I don't really handle em much other than to display. I do put a base coat on em though, usually a flat grey or white  Wich the final color seems brighter over.

Hi!
I usually basecoat my custom figures with generic "rallye-type" spraypaint, either light grey or black. In the past, I've used primer from Games Workshop, but I found out that the generic spraypaint from the home depot works just as well.
On this one, I just primed the parts which were going to be painted, like the armor and the lower legs. The rest is straight TVC Bespin Luke.

You know, I re-watched your video on the custom Republic Commando and I noticed how well the paint seems to hold up to your handling of the figure. The paint seemed like it was baked into the plastic.

As featured in my fan fiction "Never a dull moment" (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=6512.0) the Sector Rangers are the tough guys in Galactic Lawc Enforcement.
Now that I can use my fingers again, here's my WIP interpretation of a Ranger. He still needs some minor paint apps and then he'll be good to go:

Okay, this project has taken me longer than anticipated, but you'll be able to see that the finished Sector Ranger looks definitely different in some aspects than the WIP I showed earlier.
To be honest, I think he now looks a lot more badass.

It's a GI Joe helmet. Don't ask me exactly from which figure, though. I got it from the parts box and tried to match it to the one shown on one of the few illustrations of a Sector Ranger.

yeah,I'd say that looks a lot cleaner, the legs didn't look right the first time around, the head sculpt is nicer, and the added accessories finish the job well.like I say about my customs their always a WIP,till I'm completely happy.he does look very well put together.

Nice job on the Mando! I really like your paint job....very clean and precise, makes the figure pop. Also what head did you use for him it looks so natural?

Thanks!
I think a good headsculpt can add a lot to the figure.
On the Mando, I used a GI Joe DTC Barrel Roll head, on the Sector Ranger I used a BBI Elite Forces head.
