fodder recon - questions about various figures
« on: April 13, 2010, 08:32:36 AM »
This is one of those weird things that I can't figure out if it fits anywhere else.

Right now, I'm looking for figures that have the quilted-style undersuit like Vader wears.  What figures have this type of clothing?

what are you needing specifically?  Are you needing the entire figure to have that type of clothing/sculpting?  are you wanting a star wars figure or a joe?

btw I think they put stuff like this over in the references forum.

I love your thread titles Doc. Makes sense putting it here as customizers have an eye for this stuff.  There are several ROC Joes like neo viper that have ribbed shirts. There is an old Rip Cord that has ribbed torso and shirt sleeves. For SW figures there is vader as you said that you could use for the upper legs. There is not much to choose from after that...good luck and what is this for?

Spud, I forgot completely about the References forum.    :-X

This is for a custom bounty hunter from an old WEG d6 SWRPG reference.  The character wore a fairly extensive suit that was almost identical to Vader's quilted undersuit.  I think I can make use of Vader arms, waist, and upper legs.  I need some lower legs and a torso that has the quilted clothing on it.  I think I recall some other figures having a similar detail, but I can't remember exactly.  I'm at work *and* my collection is largely packed away into my storage trailer until I can get workspace & viewable stowage created.  What about:

Dark Empire Clone Emperor
Dark Empire Luke
Moff Trachta
Royal Guard

The Joe fig's have a ribbed texture, but I need a quilted/diamond texture.

(This is a fig I've wanted to make for ... well, ever since it came out - prolly close to a decade.  If I pull it off, it will be - imo - mind-blowing in its audacity and execution.)

I was gonna say the same. Also for pants you could try the Arctic Rex version. He has grey-ish looking ribbed pants if I remember correct and was decently articulated compared to some of the old Vader's you might use they dont have the same articulation as the newer figs.

Also there is a 1/2 Removalbe helmet version of this Rex and his pants are also close to what your describing, cant find pics but look at it on ebay. You will notice the fig. Looks like the one below but 1/2 removable helm. Can anyone find a pic and show him?

Check on thsi rex right here and see if this is what you are looking for?

No - Jango is a smooth-fabric texture.

No - Rex is ribbed, not quilted.

Thanks for trying, guys!  Still looking...

what about the torso of the biker scout?  I don't know what you'd use for the chest but the bottom half has that blocked quilted patern behind the pouches.

my only other thought is to use either cap. america from the MU line, or Green Goblin:

hehe - the chest is already spoken-for, actually.  And Cap and GG are definite contenders!  Thanks for bringing those up!  I'll have to drag out a biker scout to check him for suitability.

New question/request:

Does anyone have a Moff Trachta they can photograph the head from?  I'm wondering what is head & face look like behind the breath-mask, if it is a separate piece.  Thanks!
