So, the game was released yesterday, and who went out and picked it up already? My darling wife went to pick up my preordered copy from GameStop after school yesterday while I was at my part time job, so I got to sit down with it last night for awhile. If you played MW2, it is very familiar. There are some subtle new additions, such as choosing your class of killstreaks (Assault, Support, or Specialist. Each are unique in their own ways. Some new Perks, which are VERY handy for me since I'm super slow at the whole aiming and shooting thing. Most of the guns are the same, with similar level ups, but you also earn Weapon Proficiency XP along with your standard game XP, to level up your gun.
The visuals are stunning as ever, and the sound is amazing. Granted, I've been playing with my Triton 5.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset, so it's incredibly crisp audibly. Nothing really new game wise, as if you're like me, you struggle a bit to get some kills while others seem to do it while aiming away from you, jumping through the air, and blindfolded. I blame that all on me; I'm just not good!
Still, it's fun because so many of the guys from the FD play also, so we get to play big games together and chat through our headsets and have fun. The bottom line, thus far, is that the game itself isn't really anything new. It's definitely a continuation of Modern Warfare 2 with just a few subtle changes. I haven't played through the story mode yet, I'll save that for when we get some downtime from the multiplayer part.
