Blu-Ray
« on: September 09, 2008, 10:22:30 AM »
Just got a 46 inch LCD, with 5.1 surround sound speakers w/ blu-ray player, and was wonderin when all 6 movies will be available in that format.
Star Wars is not about the characters or plot...its about people settling their differences with ungodly amounts of hate and violence.

That's a very good question.  No word has been announced as of yet on that, but I do know that Spike TV HD will be broadcasting the OT in High Def soon, so it must not be too far out.  Knowing George, he's working on an Ultimate Blu-Ray Collectors Edition Super Set or something like that!

Very true. With a home entertainment item he seems to be something of a perfectionist. Who knows though, he might wait until the 3D versions are done.

Nothing that I've heard of.  I'm hoping it's a little longer away yet until I get an HDTV and Blu-Ray player!

I am like Pat, I gotta get a wide screen LCD 50 inches or larger and then I will go after the peripherals! Hope they hold out till I get Part A of that plan done.

I have had a PS3 for a while now but as of yet havent bought more than one blu-ray movie. Our local rental place has just started renting blu-ray dvds and I rented one the other day. I don't know if it is because the ps3 is upscaling the regular dvds or what but I still can't tell that much of a difference as far as resolution goes in between the blu-ray dvds and the regular ones. Sure, the color might be slightly brighter but it's not the difference that I was expecting.
  Has anyone else noticed this?

What TV are you running CH? LCD or Plasma? or the older CRT ones? that could be a big diff if you upgrade to the newer style LCD or Plasmas....

Oh, it's a newer Phillips lcd that I bought last year. Like I said, I'm running it through HDMI and the tv states that it's displaying a  1080P signal as I start the blu-ray. It just doesnt seem that much tighter than a normal dvd. I rented another blu-ray dvd this weekend. Perhaps it will look better.
