Hi everybody,
We're not sure if you are familiar with the "Customs I Wish I Owned" page on our blog where we post a video showing images of the greatest hits of a customizer once every week, but we wanted to post a notice here for any customizer that would be interested in having their work showcased on our blog. To be included we would need a short biography written in the third person and for the customizer to include any weblinks/contact information that the customizer would want our audience to have access to. We would need enough images (25-40) to at least make a video of at least a minute in length and for the images to be decent quality because the image quality is reduced during the video conversion process.
The video and bio would be posted on the following links:
http://customsforthekid.blogspot.com/p/star-wars-customs-i-wish-i-owned.html (http://customsforthekid.blogspot.com/p/star-wars-customs-i-wish-i-owned.html)
http://customsforthekid.blogspot.com/ (http://customsforthekid.blogspot.com/)
http://www.youtube.com/user/customsforthekid (http://www.youtube.com/user/customsforthekid)
Any interested parties can private message me here at the Yards or at our email customsforthekid@gmail.com (http://customsforthekid@gmail.com).
Hope to hear from you all

:'( Not even one customizer has shown any interest. Bummer.

youve already done me ! and a mighty fine job youve done too! come you customisers ! DD is offering to give you a huge ego boost ! ;)

Can Chad and I plug this as an announcement on our next Podcast? We will get the word out.

I do good to post in my own thread, y'see. I'm hesitant to tell someone who has named their list "Customs I wish I owned" that any one of mine is worthy of that title. Especially given that the majority of mine are just headswaps with a very occasional repaint or touch-up added. I mean - what if the custom *I* like isn't one the reviewer actually wishes they owned? So that just feels kinda funny to me. (but that's just imo) Now, if said blog owner saw one (or more) that they particularly liked and wanted to feature, I'm a PM away and can provide more pics...

Hey Doc. I've been wanting to feature you ever since Jay put together that awesome video for all the Shipyarders!! Once I saw that Twi'lek on the speeder bike I was sold hook, line, and sinker. A lot of my customs are just head swaps with repaints or touch-ups, but a good custom is a good custom imo. And I feel your customs definitely are superb.
I hope no one gets intimidated by the title it's only there to honor everybody's hard work.

Thanks Jay. With work as good as yours it doesn't take much to make my video look good ;)

I'd love that. With my job eating up about 65-80 hours a week and trying to find time to customize and run a blog on top of that, I really am in a panic most of the time trying to keep this feature going. Usually I only get 4 hours of sleep a day and rarely have the time to support my fellow customizers with encouraging words on their latest projects. I try to have this feature to provide a more intimate "thumbs up" to all the great customizers in our community to let them know that their work is awesome in my book and give them the recognition I feel they deserve.

Luke Spywalker video has been updated.

great video dd!

Just updated DAN OF THE DEAD's video on our "Customs I Wish Owned" page. The work of DAN OF THE DEAD was also featured in one of our earlier videos that Dad had made and he too has been really busy customizing since the original video was created. We here at "Customs for the Kid" want to make sure the original customizers who helped establish the audience to our blog stay just as fresh as our newest additions. Therefore, we will try and make these older videos more current as we keep moving forward. DAN OF THE DEAD is our latest updated video and suffice to say with all his new material, it's even better than the last one.
DAN OF THE DEAD
DAN OF THE DEAD's action figures speak for themselves. Who wouldn't want these action figures? He always takes great photos of his action figures and gets an A+ in presentation. We love the occasional backstory that is attached to his figures and he also provides recipes for the action figures he creates. Not only is he an ace when it comes to customizing, but he's an accomplished blogger too. So after you check out this video make sure you take a spin over to his blog when it's done.

MARCUS STARKILLER ADDED TO "CUSTOMS I WISH I OWNED"
We came across the Star Wars custom action figures of autistic customizer John Bandow, aka Marcus Starkiller while surfing the forums of Rebelscum and like us he's a huge Star Wars fan. We were really impressed with not only his customs but also the work he put into their presentation. This 25 year old customizer has created a great deal of our favorite Clone Wars clone commanders not in their animated look but instead with a more realistic flavor for those of you who wish we could have these characters in a more basic line. We can't say how impressed we were with his action figures, and we are sure that you will be too!
Here's the link:

I apologize to everyone for skipping a week. Summer is my busiest time of year at work and I was really overwhelmed. Lately these videos have been taking many hours to put together and I haven't been able to keep up. That said, I already have another video in the works for next week. Hope you all enjoy the new addition!
-
mate your vids are awesome and to be the subject of them is a massive priviledge
-
Sweet video update. I will put a new one up everyday till I get finished with this entire update. Thanks Brian. I know there is a wookie custom I need to find and get on the fp too.

COLIN LINGUS HOBBS ADDED TO "CUSTOMS I WISH I OWNED"
Colin Lingus Hobbs self portrait custom action figure.
Our latest customizer, Colin Lingus Hobbs, is a 36 year old customizer from Bedwas, Wales. We were introduced to his customs from his entries in the Create a Wookielover1138 Contest and when we saw his Facebook page we were really impressed with the customs we found. He tackled a lot of customs we didn't see anywhere else and not only does he create a lot of modern looking Star Wars custom action figures, but he also creates a lot of great custom Vintage action figures too. After looking at his great body of work we came to the conclusion that our Customs I Wish I Owned page wouldn't be complete without the addition of customizer Colin Lingus Hobbs.

Glad to. I don't have anyone lined up for next week yet. Truth is I haven't had any free time for customizing or making these videos lately. If anyone is interested, this is a good time to ask because I'm not going to search anyone out. The first one to ask gets a video.

I just updated the video we had for Peakob1 that we had in our "Customs I Wish I Owned" also and his action figures are definitely worth checking out. I love his paint technique and he has made some cool figures I haven't seen anywhere else.

"STRONOX" VIDEO UPDATED IN "CUSTOMS I WISH I OWNED"
QUICK MESSAGE
I want to apologize to everyone for falling behind on our "Customs I Wish I Owned" postings. No need to worry, I have plenty of new customizers on the way for you all to check out. I have four new artists that I am preparing to introduce you all to in the weeks to come.
I also have a lot of new pieces in Elias' collection to feature in our "Customizer Spotlight" with Star Wars custom action figures created by customizers Luke Sprywalker, Peakob1, Sillof, Omar Rivera, and two new additions created by kr2700/SWK Kustoms and Wraithnine who have been featured before in the "Spotlight".
To hold you all over, I just updated the video for Stronox in our "Customs I Wish I Owned" archives. Check out what he has been working on since I completed his last video.
STRONOX
Stronox is a 33 year old nurse from Pennsylvania. When he isn't parenting, he's either customizing figures, drawing, painting, reading, collecting toys, or gaming.

Somehow, I totally neglected to post this "updated" video of the work of SWK KUSTOMS (kr2700) that we featured on the blog. Definitely give this artist a look at too.

TK-9849 ADDED TO "CUSTOMS I WISH I OWNED"
TK-9849, the poster boy for Action Figure Empire, official mascot, and founding member, started collecting action figures as a young kid. He was turned on to the world of pop culture, sci-fi, and all things nerdy by his father who also worked for many companies including Lucasfilm, Marvel, DC, Jurassic Park, Warner Brothers, Visa, Exxon, Shell, Goosebumps, Ghostbusters, Hasbro, Mattel, and many other licensing companies, creating toys, sculptures, artwork, and holograms. Together they collected movies, comic books, and of course action figures. For TK-9849 collecting, especially toys and comics, has always been a joyful experience and one that brought him closer to his father. To be a collector is another way to be a serious and dedicated fan of a franchise, story, or toy line. Having studied art in College, TK-9849 started to apply his imagination, combined with his creativity, to his collection of Star Wars action figures (having spent thousands of dollars in amassing it), and thus creates kit-bash/part-swap custom creations. The fun is in the challenge of not painting anything, nor permanently altering anything. All items are removed and the figures are returned to their original states after photographing each custom creation. He has also been known to branch out into charity work for young collectors in need. He pioneered the Toys For Eli Toy Drive (with the help of Darth Daddy, Tamer, ISY, Rebelscum, Yakface, and many more) to bring hundreds of Star Wars toys to a young fan in a difficult situation. Nothing compares to the giddy rush that comes from scoring some new figures, opening them and posing them, photographing them and reviewing them on the Action Figure Empire Blog, and then using their pieces for future custom figure projects!"

stitchfett WIP
I came across the work of stitchfett while searching ebay to find cool custom action figure auctions to post to the blog's Facebook page. stitchfett had created a unique sculpt that I never saw before. Something stitchfett has labeled as the Microman series. The action figures have incredibly good articulation and an assortment of interchangeable hands.

"Microman Jango" by stitchfett
Dad reached out to Yovitt Planadeball a.k.a stitchfett of Puerto Rico, and when stitchfett responded he also provided some really cool work in progress pics for you all to check out.

With 100% Positive feedback, you can't go wrong.
There is a time when a kid is supposed to grow up, mature and get rid of his toys... well stitchfett will surely tell you that he didn't quite do that and that's how he ended up the man he is today (lol). He still remembers using toilet paper dowels, card board & clear blisters to make ships, painting his figures with Testors paints, and playing with them under his bed. His advice to beginner customizers, the secret to success is practice. By failing you discover new techniques that no one else could teach you, but most importantly... it's about having fun!

Microman customs, reminds me of Jango Bones' work.
I think I remember a Stitch Fett. Time to take this video to the fp.
-
Never got 'round to making Microman based customs. These look pretty sharp indeed. IIRC Phruby used Microman bodies and put a balloon bodysuit over them. Also, Gregorbian made some Microman customs way back in 2006.
-
Weird. Never seen this before. Though if that company already has the articulation down. Hasbro is right behind them. Just think, Real clothed Action Figures in the future. It would be like a 3 3/4 SSC figures.
-
Now thats how posable a clone trooper should be!
-
Yep, I remember Stichfett's stuff from ebay. His microman RCs were pretty stunning.
I seem to recall asking him to join us sometime in the past.
-
Seen his stuff long time ago...it's good to see his work being brought to the forefront of consciousness again!
Always been interested in the Microman style and articulation and I've looked into the expense of purchasing a couple blank Microman bodies, but the cost is actually quite high (at least through eBay and such). Hence, never headed in that direction and stuck with the typical 3 3/4 figs.
Thanks for adding this great customizer to your blog, DD!
-
Iremember this a while back isnt he a member here? Or was? Any way these are some cool customs.
-
Not sure if he's a member here. I reached out to him on ebay. Definitely a cool artist and I received the most feedback on his work than from any video I've made to date. Thanks for the cool responses. I'll be featuring FlacidEagle any day now.
-
Flaccideagle added to "Customs I Wish I Owned"
Flaccideagle is a thirtysomething from New Jersey, and has been collecting Star Wars since his high school days. He used to customize POTF2 figures for a while in the mid 1990's, and 1:6 Scale for a few years before finding ImperialShipyards.net site, and turning his attentions towards Star Wars vehicles and the occasional figure. All of his recent customs can be found on the Imperial Shipyards Forums.
We've been huge fans of his work ever since the first time we saw it, and we especially love the vibrancy of his color palette. A true master!!
Head to the link and check out the video:

Stitch_fett Reporting!!!, Clonehead & Tamer invited me a few years ago but since I'm a full time customizer/seller I have almost no time left to browse (that's also why I don't have a website), I think I wrote it in one of the few post I made but just to be clear; the microman customization is a big concept in Japan just like we do SW or Joe's, after a time I started selling them on eBay and still do to this day. That's where I met my apprentice... Jango bones!, I brought him here with the promise of quality works & awesome friends, as a good Sith he learned and folowing the sith code he struck me down and I left (lol).
I hold this site in a special place because of the quality of their member so please keep this place full of positive vibe, thanks for the post!!!
-
Nice to see Stitch_Fett here. As most of you can tell, it has been a long time since we posted a "Customs I Wish I Owned". The slowdown is due to many factors, but we want to ensure everyone that the feature is not going to disappear anytime soon. Instead of this being a weekly feature on the blog, it will instead become a monthly feature. My availability isn't what it used to be, but it's one of my favorite parts of our blog so I have no intention of having it be phased out. Any customizers who are interested in being featured don't hesitate to ask. We still get about 200 hits a day so if anyone wants the exposure don't hesitate to ask.
With that said, we just added Helix88 to our list of customizers as he is our newest addition for the month of December.
You can check out the video at the link below:

Awesome, expect to see that video on our front page soon. I have been missing those Brian!
-
Awesome video, now on the fp.
-
How could I miss this program?
Hey, any objections if I add a link to my "Best of the internet" section on my blog?
-
those micromen are awesome, they remind me of these Japanese figures I collect called revoltech.they come with interchangeable hands, and heads, they have great articulation too.
