WIP progress on a certain Starship captain
« on: February 06, 2014, 11:32:19 PM »
So I was fiddling around with Sketchup yesterday, using a model of a Stormtrooper, when it struck me that this would make an interesting base for an illustration.

I slapped several coats of Geek No. 7 on it and came up with this as a reference for the project.

After that out was time for lineart in Photoshop. I used an Intuos S tablet for that... And I seriously drew and redrew that arm about ten times. I'm STILL not happy with it.

So after that I colored it in and colored the lineart too.

The next step will be to take it into Corel Painter for shading and texturing, before bringing it back to Photoshop for compositing with an appropriate background.
Further updates to come!

I have altered the action figure. Pray I don't alter it further.

Goals I set for myself this morning: learn more about Corel Painter for the next steps on my Picard illustration.

Steps taken:
1. Watched an incomprehensible hour-long tutorial on how to paint in Corel Painter.
2. Rewound in several spots to watch again, yet still could not comprehend what manner of wizardry was going on there.
3. Screamed internally for a bit.
I have altered the action figure. Pray I don't alter it further.

Sounds like me interacting with photoshop every now and then. LOL!

I know that feeling! I would love to take a class on image creation from someone who specializes in doing sci fi type work.
