Wow, this Gunship looks awesome from every angle! I’m very glad it finally arrived in very good shape! Again, I like the option Hasbro gave us with all the different stickers.
So far the weathering you applied to your Clanker Killer looks excellent!

Here is a completely repainted LAAT from 2005, which I found on ebay for 68€:

Maybe this gives you some inspiration. The front of your Gunship is the part I spent most time looking at! I like all the details you added such as the battle damage. Great progress so far! Omega Squad looks great next top it!

That just looks tough! Awesome job.

You definitely got the version I like the best just wish it were a tad bigger with those attached turrets, but we don't get to decide scale. Off to share.

Thank you, Phillip! Weird issue I ran into...my gunship didn't come with the wenches/ropes that hang on the back. Is that an oversight or does the vintage gunship actually not come with those? As for my gunship, I modded the chin guns by trimming the tip and hollowing them out to actually look like barrels with a muzzle.

I really wish I had pigments to weather the troop bay with to add "mud" footprints.

That just looks tough! Awesome job.

Not sure if Haslab would ever pick it up or not. Honestly to me, the only area that needs to be expanded is the troop carrying section. Way too cluttered in there...I can't even do the modifications I wanted because of that reality.

Edit: I just made some homemade decals in aurebesh that say "Clanker Killer!" I'll apply them once I'm home on Sunday evening.

Hey ClanLeader, you changed your name and made a new profile picture! I like them a lot!!

This is correct! I just re-checked the review on rebelscum:

http://rebelscum.com/Republic-Gunship-The-Vintage-Collection-Hasbro.asp

It seems that people found those cables rather annoying. I also spent quite some time too get them back in there...still a cool feature though, which you could easily add to your LAAT, too!
I hope you have as much fun with your new Gunship as I do looking at these pictures of it while listening to Starset.

Add: I can recommend these pigments by Revell to you! Forum member FialaFernbrugg gave this weathering set to me and working with those pigments is great!
I'm sure you'll find a better offer than this, but this is just to show you this set:

Haha, thanks man. Yes, I did change it. I felt like it was well past time. But alas, I must say I genuinely love my new gunship. I can't wait to finish my Republic Commando Squad. I've managed to find a complete comic book set commando with all his accessories. Problem is his lack of articulated legs. My issue will be swapping those out for regular trooper legs I have in my fodder bin. I don't know if they will be compatible yet or not. I can't find any links or discussions about anyone using that technique. If the un-articulated legs are like how I think they are, it will be a simple boil and pop remedy with a swap for regular articulated clone trooper legs.

I like this guy because he has a special backpack (what I think is a jammer/disrupter) preventing CIS communication and allowing slicing, etc. This fits well with A'tin's role in Omega Squad, as he is the squad tech specialist/slicer.

Down the road, I'm going to see if I can obtain those cables and allow the commandos to fast rope from my LAAT/I.

Then I'll use the fodder from Mr.Black to possibly make a few commando teams. I haven't decided fully on that yet, though.

That's a good point! I had never thought about replacing just the legs to modify those Comic Pack RCs...it should work though...I guess you are already familiar with the boil-n-pop method?

Man, that's some indepth knowledge about the plot and accessories. Atin will look awesome and I'm extremely glad that you got your squad together in this short time!
Good times to come!

Yes indeed! I've already thought of the perfect idea for A'tin's appearance. I'm going to use Halloween blood to make a symbol on his helmet to match the scar he has under his helmet. This was given to him by his Mandalorian training sergeant (Walon Vau) for the loss of his fellow squad mates.

To get Atin out of his survivor's guilt after his squadmates died, Vau took his knife to the clone, leaving a scar that stretched from his right eye to the left side of his chin, distinguishing him from his fellow clones.

As such, he will have the "bloodstain" design on his bucket to match the scar underneath. A reminder of his past.

I've done a similar "blood painting" technique with a Predator figure.

Here are the results:

Hey, that's impressive! It seems you scanned every single page of Karen Traviss' books! Time for me to read them, again. It's been a while and they're written extremely well! Excellent idea with the scar! It must've hurt that much that you can even see the scar through Atin's Katarn-class armor.

It's not actually visible through the armor, but I want it to mimic the actual scar.  ()rr

I can't wait to see how your leg swap works out. I like the idea for your scaring paint work too.

I applied the final piece of nose art! I added the "clanker killer" aurebesh text.

That looks great! It really adds to the ship a lot. About the only thing I might change is doing the Aurebesh with a clear background.

Off to the front pages.
