Title: Scored on Ebay
Post by: Clonehead on November 23, 2008, 04:12:26 PM
Well, I won a minty unleashed Padme yesterday on the bay. It was the only fig in the bigger unleashed line that I had not aquired as of yet. Normally, this one has been fetching inbetween $40-$50 on the bay but I got this one for $20 which is a price that I can live with.

That is a great price for a great item.  Some of those larger scale Unleashed are phenomenal...Hasbro should never have left that line.  This "Perky" edition is definitely a nice display piece.

I agree with you there, Pat.  They should have never ditched that line. there are so many other characters that they could have made. I enjoy them alot more than the little Unleashed line.

I really liked this larger unleashed line too. I had hoped we could get more additions in the tubular packaging.

I won a Comicon Shadow scout MOC for $18 shipped the other day. Sorry Tamer, I couldn't wait for this item.

Not bad Clint.  I love the Biker Scouts and speeder bikes, and would love to have a few of these loose!

Good for you Clint! I will get off my duff and start listing stuff soon. I have just been too lazy to start! The whole idea is kind of overwhelming!

I'm sure that it is, after all, you have been collecting for a while now.
I won a Sw minuitures ATAT for $55 shipped tonight. Don't these go for $50 at a speciaty shop?
I have been wanting one for a while and you know what, Tamer? I'm going to open mine!! I figure that this could make for great dio fodder!

I paid 50 bucks plus shipping for mine when I first bought it Clint. That is a great price. Perhaps this one is gonna be the first step to seeing a full size atat with that great snow camo paint job? Not to mention the great added detail you give all your stuff.

I won a tac animated boba fett fig for $4.49 shipped, tonight.
I am going to use him for a future custom project.

Well I got my two vintage death star cannons today. They are pretty daggone big. I thought I got rooked for a second when I didn't see the large gun tips. These actually come apart from the cannon, I didn't know that till I had em in hand. The only thing that is really wrong with em is the end of one is a little tore up and they are missing the smaller length of cannon, but something I hope Clint can counter.

I am posting a few pics for reference.  This gun, with tip, seems to as long as the entire troop carrier.

Post by: Clonehead on March 25, 2009, 03:25:03 PM
Yikes, those things are big!! Alot bigger than I remember. I wonder if there is any big mount inside the troop carrier to hold the walker's neck that might be in the way. I can't remember if the walker's head swings back and forth at the body or at the head. Some alteration may be necessary if you want to fit this thing inside the walker.
Scratchbuilding a fix for the lower barrels shouldnt be a problem but I still think the main barrel needs to be altered.

I need to get these things in your hand so you can do a real looks, but we may indeed have to alter some plans to use these behemoths. I can deal with any barrel alteration you want to Clint. This is in your artistic hands, not mine. I have got to look at the other swcca pic to see what size that cannon looked like. I don't think it looked that big. Still a great big gun and a walker! You can't go wrong with that combination no matter what you do to it!
Title: Re: Scored on Ebay
Post by: Clonehead on March 25, 2009, 03:52:19 PM
When you look at that pic I want you to compare the length of the gun from the mushroom shaped piece twards the back of the gun to where the upper and lower barrel split- to your walker. Look at the pic and see if this area on that gun matches the length of the DS gun when placed with the end of the gun starting at the same point along the length of one of your walkers. I will look at that pic again and see what I think.
Title: Re: Scored on Ebay
Post by: Clonehead on March 25, 2009, 04:03:15 PM
You are right, buddy, I just scaled it using a ruler. The death star gun is bigger than the one used in that pic. That was my mistake as everything but the barrel was shaped the same. I assumed it was the same gun with a different barrel. We can make it work but I want to make a barrel for it more like that SDCC gun.
That is going to be one intimidating mobile ballistics platform.
Title: Re: Scored on Ebay
Post by: Tamer on March 25, 2009, 04:08:46 PM
I just sent you a pm to the same effect. At most it is just the base part that has been used, but the more I look at it the more it looks slightly smaller that the one from the playset. It also seems to me that the long tip has been replaced with a more howitzer looking barrel and it looks like two smaller long barrels are on top and the bottom of the main cannon. You know more about scale than I, but a good chunk of that cannon is hanging off the back end of that walker, almost half of the total length I am thinking.

You got that right, this is gonna be a huge mobile cannon. Did I tell you that I was FDC while I was in the Army? Ole tamer fired the big guns. Now do you wonder why I like this so much!

No ou didnt mention that. This is going to be some major firepower that the ATAT crew will be able to bear.
Yes, the howitzer barrels are what I am planning to emulate. I have even chosen an article from work to use as the main replacement barrel.

Sweet. Maybe you can make the atat drivers some earmuffs. LOL. Not! Hey, let me know if you want me to go after that cannon without the tip as it is still up for grabs.

Might as well. I have a feeling that we are going to need it. That's why I didn't care if the gun had a barrel or not as I knew that I was going to replace it anyway. After looking at your pictures, I am already getting a more refined picture in my head of what this will look like.

I hope to have this to you next week. I am waiting on some atat drivers and perhaps the vintage walker I won, but if it doesn't come by next week I am just sending you what I have. I was sure surprised by how huge those death star cannons are. I will go take a look to see if he still has the one cannon.

You are the man, buddy!
I got to thinking that the mushroom shaped bell on the rear of the cannon may need to be altered to avoid clearance issues with the short remaining side walls of our walker when It goes to swing from right to left while aimed in the up position. This may help with fitting the gun into it's stowed position within the troop area. I was thinking of killing the long nipple that protrudes from the back of the mushroom and if that isn't enough, we could move the mushroom forward a bit by shaving off part of the shaft in-between the mushroom and the main part of the gun. I will know what will be necessary  once I start cutting on the beast.

I've always wanted the amidala figure, but was confused by the perky variant.  Given my tastes, I'm sure thats the one I'd want, but for the life of me, I've never seen them side by side to see the difference.

And if the description actually says "perky" its always BIN of at least 60, lol.
Title: Re: Scored on Ebay

I have never seen the other varient if there is one. I have seen these going for a decent price lately. It's my guess that every seller would put "perky" in the auctions title not knowing any better.

I did a whole walk-thru of both pieces I got, with the 4LOM giving a running smartmouth commentary...

http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u239/LosLejanos/shuttle/?albumview=slideshow (http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u239/LosLejanos/shuttle/?albumview=slideshow)

They are definitely missing parts and are ripe for customizing.  I'd almost wonder if you could squeeze two boosters together to get more headroom in the playspace OR to make a full-length playable deck that the upright piece alludes to.  Prolly not, but it is a fun thought.  Should make for a good place to take pics, at least.  Well, once I detail it up and get rid of the GI Joe/English stickers.

...goes off to mold shipping containers...

You could probably split it open, it comes aprt in two halfs, and just build a card (plasticard) extension to make it taller.

did you see what I mean about the riser?  I cut mine to come out, I was gonna make a ship that was pretty much 1:1, and as big as it is, it would be, what,  a very small shuttle?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.  Still, its mighty bloody kool as-is!  I think I can dress it out to use as a series of shipboard "sets" for photoshoots.  Maybe it could *pretend* to be a Ghtroc 720-series...  ;D

When I first got into collecting joes, again, back in 2004, I happened upon a lot of about 80 figures for less than 30 bucks shipped.  It got me hooked.

I'm hoping I can find something similar now that I am starting star wars figures, lol.

having trouble with getting decent articulation, though, :(

I originally got into the SW figs(well ok at first for snowtroopers) for the gear.  I love all the little dio and accesory stuff you guys get, joes have none of the coolness of say a bar or a vid screen, or any of that.

Same reason I plan to pick up the ST figures on the clearance aisle, so I can update my terrordrome(well, rather my second drome, right seg?).

Complete Cantina Band
- ok, they went for $3.25, not 99 cents
Zett Jukasa
- another non-adult fig, good for background chars
Admiral Motti
- nice Imperial uniform

Lost the rest of the DS Briefing set because I wouldn't up my bid when someone nudged them to $1.25.  So somebody got a good deal on several DS-era Imperials.  ;D  Got a ton more auctions at 99 cents that end in the next 3 hrs.  If someone bumps them, I'm not chasing them because I have a metric crappetonne of bids out there.  Lotta fodder about to be flowing in to the Outlands...

Title: Re: Scored on Ebay
Post by: Clonehead on June 29, 2009, 04:47:42 PM
That's alot like asking me what's the difference in between my star wars collection and my ebay star wars inventory. There is no difference, if something is worth enough money, i'll sell it or, if I bought something to sell and it grows on me or if I need it for a project, it's mine. Works pretty well that way.

I started buying and selling on ebay because I thought it would help me collect. Buy a lot auction of figures and sell off the ones that I don't want while keeping the ones that I couldn't find individually. The making and selling customs came later and the whole resin thing came after that.

I finally, finally, finally picked up the Walmart Exclusive Republic Gunship last night for waaaaaay too much money.  The bidding on those things is ridiculous. Except for the Costco AT-TE exclusive, which I am still on the fence about because it is a straight repack, this was the last thing I needed to complete my CW collection.

I'm sure I could have waited it out and found one a little cheaper, but I have a rare open window next week where my wife will be out of town and I can have stuff shipped to the house without the usual freak-out and arguing.  >:D

I don't have collecting arguements anymore, I simply ask if she prefers I hang out in the bars, and believe me living in Wisconsin, the bar tabs can get hefty ;)

I actually spend alot more on my car hobby than SW but I am at home and am happy for the most party so Sue leaves me alone.

As for the gunships, I regret not buying a few more when I had the chances over the years and for some reason they sure are getting expensive compaired to other SW items

Well, it ended up being a shade over $100 but shipping was free, at least.

I have no doubt I could have found one cheaper eventually (Saw one go 2 weeks ago for $75) but I was motivated by the opportunity of having it shipped here with impunity. :)

I have been watching the gunships on and off the past few months and they are definitely creeping up in value. I have no idea why either, but it is a huge relief to have this off my List.

Here are a couple of pieces of Maiden merchandise that I recently won on Ebay.
You have here, my official "the Trooper" vans skate shoes and a xl shirt from their recent 08 tour featuring Derrick Riggs's artwork for the singles "aces high" and " two min to midnight"

Around February or so I won the Power of the Force FX X-Wing, total came to $18, shipping included. Nobody else put a bid on it, I was the only one. Only downside was it didn't come with the missile but hey, I'll take it.

I want a Potf2 FX Xwing boxed bad. Man, that is an awesome price if it were just for parts, let alone only missing a missle.

I picked up the vintage Ewok Combat Glider and Assault Catapult, complete in their original boxes, for about $10 each plus shipping. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

I had a good bid on the Endor Forest Ranger too but got punked at the last second. These are not too hard to come by, so I'm not worried.

I am concerned that after several consecutive weeks, I have yet to see the Imperial Sniper or Security Scout mini-rigs show up at all on eBay...those must be extremely rare, even loose. I did see a Sand Skimmer but it went for about $25 which is out of my price range for the moment.

They are.  I've been watching for them, off and on, as I have money to play with.

On a side note, if you are a NIB guy, I have a NIB Forest Ranger that I'm finally going to part with, now that I have a loose one.  (I wouldn't call it mint, as the person I bought it from had opened the box to take pics of the contents and I think the box was folded up for shipping.  It's still stashed in the box it was mailed in, I need to get it out and photo it for posting.

I broke down and bid on an imperial pilots II evo set the other day. I got it for $27 shipped which wasnt bad I guess, considering that I wasnt going to find it any other way it seems. Had I have gotten it in a walmart, I would have saved about $4.50 from this price including my discount.

That sucks, the shelves are filthy with them around here.

But I still can't find my elusive Rumsleg!!

Thanks, but in an insane kind of way, I'm compelled to find it on my own right now. It's like a challenge I feel obligated to overcome. For me, the best part of collecting (anything) is actually FINDING it on the shelves. It's all about the SCORE with me. That feeling feeling of elation when you're all "Hell yes, Rummy - you are MINE!"  ;D

That tune could change quickly if he continues to elude me for another week though...

Got 3 fils, 3 evo arcs, and 3 evo pilots from a tunghori-like bootlegger from china for $24.99 shipped. The waist joints in the Fil figs seem very loose but I noticed that each figure came with an extra accessorie. The fils have an extra leg clip-on explosive pack, the evo pilots have an extra blaster, and the arcs come with two extra pistols.

I got the Millennium Falcon cockpit game-controller.  Originally came with a cd-rom game, but I didn't want that.  The cockpit straps to your keyboard and has two pilot chairs, a gunner's chair, and two footpegs.  Neat little set and good for still-photo work.

Y'know, like this...

I have been eyeing up Palso Thern thanks to AFE too.

Do you guys know he has made over a thousand dollars just from that figure alone on ebay this past month? That guy must be rich by now!
