Finger & Toe Models toss-together
« on: May 10, 2012, 09:41:05 PM »
Here's some test-folds I did from three different FTM sets - the large wall and tower are from Tango Prime Citadel, the barricades are from Tango Prime Perimeter, and the crate is the munitions crate from Arsenal: Anti-Air.  I'm looking into making the barricades and munitions crate in 3d form, possibly even making the crate in larger sizes as well.  Time will tell.  In the meantime, you can buy the paper-models and fold them yourself for gobs of scenics!

I forgot to mention the test pieces in the pics were printed out on a black & white laser printer on regular printer paper.  The actual pieces are in color and are intended to be printed out on cardstock and glued, NOT scotch-taped up like I did!

Hey, thanks for the exposure!  Glenn makes some *excellent* stuff, mostly designed for 25mm wargaming.  Occasionally, he'll release a set with wider appeal - or even an action-figure-specific set, like L.I.A.M.  I'm looking forward to redoing all this in color/cardstock once I get the bills caught up and can afford the toner cart's.  And I need to get the L.I.A.M. set.

Looking good Doc! I too would not have guessed these were simple paper printouts!

Darthwalls, there's a link in my *old* thread about the Action: Outlands set where you can start - http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=6223.0

Been playing with the Tango Prime: Hangar set from FTM this week.  I think it is a set with a lot of potential for us action figure folks, even if it is only 4" tall in its basic configuration.  I'm attaching a pic of one module below.  I've replaced the sliding hangar doors with a clear plastic wall, looking at using it as an entryway to a hotel or store or such.

The second and third pics are of the hangar wall section left flat in preparation for attaching to a sheet of foamcore or similar.  In the second pic, the upright is made from a pair of the kit's basic buttresses, with one inverted atop the other, for a height of 9".  The third pic has the kit's beam inserted between the two buttresses, creating a height of 15" - a rather massive wall, for sure!  This is envisioned as a hangar wall or warehouse wall, primarily as a photo-backdrop.  I have some ideas for a few dimensional elements, including a catwalk, that would protrude a bit, but essentially remain fairly flat.

One thing that concerns me - do you think the 1" grid-pattern is too "busy" here?

Doc, I love that entryway, and you say it comes with doors? I would like to see that too.

I can see what you mean by those wall panels. Perhaps using square and rectangular shapes so they would tile better might give it a nicer look. I guess you won't know for sure though till you put it together.

On the front page.

I too love that doorway! The tall wall panel I feel is a bit too distracting to the eye. It will draw your attention away from the figure you are photographing.

Nope, the details on any given surface are 100% flat.  Glenn is absolutely amazing with this stuff!  I'll see if I took pics with the doors in place and get them
posted tomorrow.

I've got an idea on how I can make the entryway taller, which I hope to get to over the weekend (but the Hide In Plain Sight contest comes first!).

I'm going to ask Glenn about possibly taking this design and enlarging the square from a 1" pattern to 2" or even 3" to see how that works with action figs.
