Sounds cool Spud. Don't use the sanding drum on the shoulder use the smal round bit it does the job quicky with just a few passes back and forth. Since you have painted already I would tape the rest of the shoulder leaving the yellow swivel exposed. This way if you slip it will just tear the tape.  You are right the thin lower legs ar minimal but this is an almost perfect custom to me and just thought I would throw it out there. Seriously near perfect, the only thing that is barely off for me is the lower legs. I really like this guy!

If it were me, I'd add some other yellow stripes to match the joint just because I know how bloody frustrating those joints are!!

And I can SO see this guy showing in in an episode of Firefly...  ;D

it looks great, the paint color goes with it nicely. Also what did you use to put the bantha skull onto the cloth mask?

a very finely bristled brush and flat black testors acrylic.

thanks.  I actually don't have anything on the table right now...  At least, nothing I realy feel inclined to work on. so it may be a few weeks before I get another custom finished.  at least until deer season is over :P

super articulated Quinlan Voss.

I bought a Voss figure from the flea market for around 2 bucks a few weeks ago, he didn't have a lightsabre or any accessories but I liked the character so I grabbed him.   I believe he is from one of the comic packs...

the original figure was very lacking in articulation.  The only thing he had below the swivel waist were swivel hips.  This of course had to be changed.

I toyed with the idea of just using the head and belt but wound up going an entirely new direction with this one.   I removed his old hips and legs and hollowed out the rubbery torso that was left.  I then took a resolute cobra commander and sanded down his lower torso to fit up inside the hollowed voss.  This gave me somewhat of a ball joint in the torso as well as ball jointed joe style hips.

this is what I finished up with:

in this image below you can see the hip replacement that is going on beneath his robes and belt:

Good work!  Without the belt/robe-tails, the waist looks too small for the torso, but hey - we can't get *that* precise in small scales!  Once the belt/robe-tails go on, it looks absolutely right-on!

well, that's my biggest issue with this atm actually.  I was originally thinking about completely rebuilding a figure for voss out of nothing but joe parts and only using the head of the original voss figure.  What I thought I'd do would be to create a set of loose, soft goods robes that would fit around the figure's torso and not hinder the movement of the legs at all, which I still very well may do because I'm NOT satisfied with the movement of the legs, they are hindered by the belt and robe ends.

What I thought I'd do is trim off the sculpted rubber robe ends on the belt piece and then make soft good's versions of them...  something similar to the way the newest qui-gon is done.
