The female troopers is a weird choice...

I think Joker Squadron was a big success so perhaps that is where this is coming from?

It might be but:

1. it is way overpriced
2. the armor looks cartoonish, not really stormtrooper.
3. who is she really, why not a Sandtrooper or other armored character? A Leia Hoth or Oola or Shaak Ti etc. if they want a female statue
4. the sculpt is nice, but remember this is the prototype, with recent GG history the product they release will be less quality than the proto alas.

LOL, Serg! I wish you would really tell me how you feel about her!

I guess they are trying to cash in on anything EU since we don't see as much of it. That and perhaps they are thinking the guys will love a female in Stormy armor!

I agree with you and then there is the fact that there are two versions of this.

I got this earlier this month:

"Please Note:  Important Change to Placing Orders
As a result of our research on how to most efficiently process orders through our system in conjunction with our fulfillment warehouse:
Effective immediately, we are limiting each order to one (1) sku/item per order.
By doing so, this allows Gentle Giant Ltd. and our fulfillment warehouse partner to process orders most efficiently and most expediently.
This change will also have a positive impact on the My Rewards Program; since reward points are only accumulated when an order is complete. If you had several items on an order and not all the items were available you would not be credited for the order until all items had shipped.
As part of this change, we will also take all existing orders with remaining pre-ordered items that have not been fulfilled and place each one on a separate order.
If you need additional information, please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department via email at customerservice@gentlegiantstudios.com or phone 818.504.3555 from 9am to 6pm PST Monday through Friday.
New Items Now Available for Pre-Order to Premier Guild Members"

I saw their new shipping prices and must say that they seem a bit steep and one order at a time is surely gonna help their coffers!

I dont order from them but, are they breaking all orders up into separate orders and charging shipping for each one instead of a combined shipping?

That is my understanding. It doesn't make much sense to me either other than when I placed my mcquarrie snowtrooper order and saw the twenty dollar shipping fee.

Well for exclusives, luckily I only usually order one at a time anyhow, it is still a no-brainer if you want it.

As for the other items, outside etailers (like Most Wanted Collectibles for example) more often than not sell them cheaper than GG and do discounts, give you great shipping fees, and will let you order more than one item.

I really don't see how they will be able to keep this up if they want folks to order from them. Methinks perhaps they are moving to just supplying their retailers and slowly phasing out individual buyers. I have no proof, but that is the only sense I can make of it.

I just emailed my contact at Gentle Giant, asking him that very question.  I just ordered 2 SDCC Exclusives, that will be shipped out at the same time after the convention, yet had to pay almost $13 each for shipping, which is bogus since I know shipping isn't that expensive as it is.  I'll let you all know what I find out.

Cool deal Pat. At this point I gotta agree with Spooky, something seems "wonky" to me with this individual order thing with the increased shipping charges. I kinda feel like some ebay sellers who have low buy it now fees, but then charge outrageous shipping fees.
