This was my first attempt at a Star Wars custom. It was supposed to be a gladiator inspired clone. I'll post more pics as I work on him.

Keep it up! I got nothing for you on sculpting - I ask others for that!!
-
Did a little more work. Almost done.

Just a few paint touchups, and the beard and this guy should be done.
-
First off let me welcome you to the Yards.
I like the idea of this. I am trying to find a way to sneak away this weekend and watch the new 300 while my daughter does a sleepover. So far no luck, but I am pretty sneaky. I like this. Off to share on the front page.
-
300 was pretty good for a movie I had no hopes for. Watch it in 3D.
Thanks for the words, and the front page. It was exciting to see. Did a little more work today. Hopefully by the weekend I can finish it up. Just need to figure out the helmet. Can't get it quite right.

-
Great work on the beard!
-
Welp, that's it for this one. It could probably use a little more work. I just feel like if I keep messing with it I'll definitely screw it up. I'm really happy with he painted weapons. Simple, but I like them. Anyways. Here it is.

Aw man, I wanted to see a pic with the helmet on! Great concept though, off to share your final reveal.
-
I'll post one with the helmet on him. Don't know why I didn't. I'm not too happy with how the helmet came out. It'll do for now until I make a better one. Either later today, or tomorrow a new pic will be up.
-
Here is the definitely not finished helmet for my Spartan inspired figure. Looks bulky now, I'm hoping to dremmel it out and actually have the figure wear it. If all goes well you should see his face through the mask as is he was Leonidas himself. Well that's the hope at least. Also started working on a young Boba Fett, from the TCW s.4 ep.20, entitled "BOUNTY". I always wish they made this figure, but so many characters from the animated series I wish were made into figures. So far he's just been painted up. Need to get a helmet for him, make some shoulder armor for his left shoulder, and figure out how to bald this figure out without completely destroying his head. My son already wants to play with him, may have to buy another figure on eBay so I can make one for him as well. If anyone has advice on shaving this guys hair down, I'm all ears. Thanks. Also, I think I need to buy a matte finish for my figures. Boba's outfit is supposed to be cloth, the satin makes it too shiny IMO.

Just a quick repaint of one of the Mando Troopers from Deathwatch. I plan on doing 2 more. One just like this, another with the horns on the helmet. Also forgot to take pictures of the jetpacks.

Good looking Mando. Like the shading.
-
Thanks for the kind words Koth!!! I really liked the way this one turned out. I'm hoping to focus more on characters from TCW that were never made into figures. We'll see how they turn out. Loved your (R4-Bad1) Badawan, by the way. It would be the perfect companion to my Mandos.
-
Nice, my comments are on the front page.
-
Here's the rest. Next I'll be working on Bo Katan. Might take a while with that one.

Saw Darthdaddy's spotlight on Peakob1 the other day, loved his Sugi. Thought I'd take a crack at it with an extra Aurra Sing I had lying around. I'm not nearly as good as he is, but here is what I've done today. Need to add some more horns, try and make weapons, then paint up her hair. Hope to finish it up tomorrow.

Looks great to me. Off to share.

Nice looking figures mate.
Ron
-
Thanks guys. I finished her up today. Just haven't had time to take pictures. Maybe tomorrow I'll post the finished Sugi pics, and a gingham bounty hunter WIP.
-
UPDATE 4/11/14 Sugi is as completed as she'll ever be for now. My daughter wants this one so I may have to make another for my shelf. Thanks for looking!

Also, if anyone could name the helmet Boba is wearing in this image it would be mighty helpful for an unfinished project I'm working on.

Very nice. Off to the front page.
That helmet reminds me of the one Assaj Ventress was sporting for awhile on TCW.
-
How about the sith lord (starkiller) helmet?
Love the Sugi, great use of parts.
-
Great Sugi! and i agree with Koth about the Starkiller helmet
-
With some modification, that starkiller hear could work. Thanks for the kind words everyone.
-
Love the Sugi!!!!! Looks fantastic I think you nailed it! Great use of an aurra sing i
i used shock ti for mine but this looks great perfect!! 0//
-
Thanks a lot peakob1, your SUGI was my inspiration. Glad to see you like her.
-
Very nice. Off to the front page.
That helmet reminds me of the one Assaj Ventress was sporting for awhile on TCW.
I thought her helmet was the head of a Commando Droid.
Boba Fett's transition helmet made me think of Darth Revan meets Verpine.
Excellent use of TCW Aurra Sing. She's probably the best base figure for TCW females there is.
BTW, daughters are hard to refuse, especially when it comes to cool female action figures.

Hey Hanzo, what about using the Shadows of the Empire Swoop Biker's head as a base for this Boba Fett helmet. With some modifications you may be able to make the helmet you want. Here's a pic of what I am talking about:
Good luck with your project!
-
Thanks for the advice, probably going to give this helmet a go on the weekend. To busy with work all week to try anything sooner. Thanks everyone.
-
Something I worked on this past weekend. Not even close to being complete. I know it's not Star Wars, but TMNT is something I've had with me since my childhood. Still subscribed to the comics today. Anywho......this is from the latest story arc that just ended, Leonardo was captured by the Foot Clan and brainwashed into being Shredder's apprentice. I loved the Foot Clan gear he wore, and since this has nothing to do with the animated series, I doubt there will ever be a figure made. Thought I'd give him a go on my own.

P.S. COWABUNGA!!!
-
I really like the alterations you are doing to Leonardo.
-
Great job on the Leonardo, really like the scarf.
-
Actually had some free time today. Decided to paint this figure to make it a little more accurate to the show. I'm liking it so far. I think my favorite part is how good the Nikto Guard head looks once you paint the horns. Just need to touch up some of the paint, her the symbol painted on his gauntlet, and find him the right lightsabers. Anyways. Here he is, Ima-Gun Di.

So this is my first attempt at a custom in over 10 years. It's an old armored Obi Wan from a few years ago, the shield belongs to a Mandalorian officer. All I did to it was add a makeshift holster to the back for his blaster. I plan on Giving him a much more grizzly beard and I gave him an eye wound. The figure was Spartan inspired, craft store didn't have metallic brass paint so I went with bronze. Everything else is just me playing with the green stuff and trying to get used to it. I'm not very good, I'll take all the help I can get, so advise away. All input is appreciated.

Hi! I'm new to customs. I like you work and have a question. What did you use to sculpt with?
-
This is what I used
http://www.thewarstore.com/product18832.html
There are plenty of other brands out there. I bought mine at a local hobby shop. You could also try products by Aves. All depends on what's available to you. Just scour YouTube, you should be able to find quite a few tutorials.

Here is a my Rako Hardeen WIP. This one is still in the early stages, just trying to decide what part to work on next. Also plan on having him without his helmet. No pics yet for that.

superb work !
-
Looks good to me! Off to share.
-
Hardeen is one of the TCW characters I've been meaning to do in realistic style for a while now. I have been hesitant to do it because I was going to be sculpting his vest... and I am never confident with sculpting anything.
yours is off to a great start. I like that you are keeping to TCW style parts... even if I don't like the slimmed down look, it still holds true to the source material and for that reason it works!

Thanks. Yea, I'm not to keen on sculpting either. This figure isn't done yet, but I already see ways can can improve it. Definitely want to give him a go a second time once I'm done with this. He's going to my son, so I'll need one for my shelf. Would love to see you do a realistic version spuda.
-
You're off to a great start there. I'm with you guys my sculpting is bad, but ive had a little success. Looking forward to seeing finished article and helmetless option.
-
Here is a finished Rako Hardeen, and an almost finished Gregor( He Lives!!!).

Great job on Hardeen. He's a character I'd love to try and tackle some day.
-
They look good to me. Back on the front page.

Hardeen turned out great!
Regarding Concept Boba Fett's helmet; did you mold and cast the helmet or did you modify it?
-
Good Work. What Head did you use for Rako?

Hardeen turned out great!
Regarding Concept Boba Fett's helmet; did you mold and cast the helmet or did you modify it?
Thanks!, The helmet was purchased from sithhappens on eBay. I had seen that he was selling them on the bay in the past, I never bought one. Then when I needed it, he was not selling, sent him a message and he casted a few.
Good Work. What Head did you use for Rako?
Thanks! The head was an extra Quinlan Vos I had. The hair was ripped off for another custom figure, figured his facial structure was close enough. Still not happy with the facial tattoos, I don't know how some guys can make the finest little details, maybe my brushes suck. Not sure.
-
Nice job on your last 2 customs!
-
Hardeen turned out great.
Good idea to use a Qinlan Vos head.

So here are a few WIP shots of my Pong Krell figure I started maybe a week ago. I realize I should've used the Goro figure a few others have, but $30 on eBay was the cheapest I could find him for, and I thought, maybe I can just do it with what I have lying around. Don't kill me for butchering a few Marvel Universe, figures, I had multiples of both, so I figured, what the hell. here it is. Any advice is appreciated.

One last thing, I do realize his head is resting a little low, Pong is supposed to have a neck, and his "chin" should be longer. Haven't decided if I am even going to fix that. For now I am accepting his head as it is. Thanks for reading.
-
This is looking great and your sculpting is execellent.
Ron
-
I had the same problem with the neck on mine. Even with the Goro figure as a base, I had to use Fixit to extend the neck. I too initially planned on skipping the step completely, but after putting a year of my life into the figure I wanted it to look as close to what he should as possible. I you need any tips for extending it if you ever decide to do so, just ask.
-
Wow, I think you have done great with what you have done so far. Let me go share this to the front page.
I will be anxious to see how you finish this one out!
-
Very nice work. More updates please.
-
Great progress on Krell. He's going to be tremendous!
-
Thanks for the kind words. Progress will be slow on this guy, but I'll port pictures whenever I work on him.
-
Oh the opportunity Hasbro missed out on with Pong Krell. Excellent work. Cannot wait to see the finished product.
-
Oh the opportunity Hasbro missed out on with Pong Krell.
Word!

Here's a quickie figure I did this afternoon. Dogma of the 501st. Thought this would be easy. It was not, definitely going over this one again.

There is still so much potential in TCW Line as you showed us with this one. Back to the front page.
-
I agree, so much missed opportunity in the CW line - your CW customs are pretty sweet though.

Here is 2 more. Jesse and Tup, also a photo of them and Dogma. I plan on weathering them up a bit, just not until the whole crew is finished. I also need to go back and fix Jesse's helmet, can't see the design at all in the pics.

Nice. Off to share.

Asajj Ventress in nightsister attire. Haven't decided if I'm going to make a hood for her.

Wow. You can find my answer to your hood question on the front page. Nice work!
-
I'm not a fan of Clone Wars style figures but I love that Asajj. Great work!
-
thanks! Decided against the hood. Don't want to screw up the head.

Worked on these 2 today. With these guys I almost have my 501st squadron completed. Still not happy with Fives' helmet, but those small scale designs kill me. I hope to finish Arc Trooper Echo by the weeks end. He needs the ammo pouch attached to his chest armor, and the helmet needs to be painted. After that just dirty him up a bit.

Awesome paint apps!
-
Thanks, Just edited the last post and added Echo to it.
-
I'm going to call these guys complete for now. Finished Echo today and did some touch ups on Fives. I'm satisfied enough with these.

Those two are looking good on our front page.
You can read more comments there too.

Wow!!! Look at those 2 beauties!! Mmmm mmm great job!!!

Thanks guys, and Tamer, I do have plans for more clones down the line. Just need to secure some more Phase II clones at a decent price. All the phase II's I have are dedicated to the 501st crew I've been trying to put together.

Enjoy your Independence Day everyone. Here is Kix.

chest markings look perfect. Off to the front page. And happy 4th!
-
Loving your customs! It's great to see another custom artist tackling the characters of the Clone Wars. You should post over at our Clone Wars Custom Action Figure page on Facebook.
-
I thought the same thing Brian, its nice to see TCW continue to live on through you guys!
-
WANT those more realistic Captain Rex and Fives. Those are who they are right? All clones look alike to me...

Actually, it's TCW Fives and Echo in their Arc Trooper suits. I did repaint Rex to match the rest of my 501st. Will post a group shot hopefully in a few weeks after my California trip.
Darthdaddy & Tamer, I don't really do much on Facebook. But, I may have to if it's for the Clone Wars. I'll check the page out tonight.
-
Off to California for a while, won't be getting much done with customs, but I leave you with these. hopefully I'll have some finished works in a few weeks.

Did you make that helmet or buy it. If you bought it, where?

Got the helmet off ebay. Here's the link to the seller's page. If it's not listed, send him a message. Usually he'll cast it and post within a few days.

Thank you, I am in a family wedding in Sacramento. I'll be staying much too far from San Diego.
Before I left I picked this guy up on ebay for $1. I originally only bought it because it was a phase II clone and I can never have too many of those bodies. Once I had it in hand, I really liked the paint job on the forearms and legs, not so much on the rest of the upper body though. Instead of using this guy for parts I figured I'd do a quick repaint. I added real straps instead of painting them on as you see in the first photo, added metallic paints to the helmet, though its hard to tell. I need to give him a leg strap and pack, but that will have to wait until vacation is over.

As you can see, not a big difference, the guy I bought this off of did a good job. I just tweaked his work a bit.

You'll never believe it but i sold that to you. I did that custom a while ago. These mods look nice. SO glad you made him look better. The paint i put on was gloppy you made it look real nice.

Your TCW Gree looks great. You can't beat a dollar for this. Time to go to the front page.
You might like our prize pack I picked up for our next custom contest that I found while I was out last week. ;)

Can't wait to find out. I would've entered this last contest, but summer with the kids at home gets busy. My days off are no longer my own. thanks for the front page.

Awesome. I'm glad your not offended I changed it. Wasn't sure if I should post pics. LOVE the camoflauge paint apps, no way I was going to try and replicate what you did. BTW, Absolutely love the CW style Luke Skywalker I received as well.
-
No dude its cool. Thanks though!

Here's a WIP of my bounty hunter for the upcoming contest. He's a mash up of fodder from various guys, but this is no quickie job. My kids are helping with his backstory, still a lot of work to do but it's fun.

A good bounty hunter has to have a rocket pack or boots like this one does! Nice mix of parts so far. Keep it going!
