Hi All,

Rebel Speeder 1:48 scale.

Recipe.

Speeder - is from Bandai and is built straight out of the box except the cockpit seats which I added baby wipes for the seating and paper and plastic card for the belts and buckles.

Base - is foam with balsa wood edging and then cardboard added and marked out for the tarmac. The tubes are electrical wire and the power box is from Star Wars Imperial Assault and the power poles are from Star Wars Legion.

The dirt is a mix of sand and dirt, the grass tufts and grass shrubs are from Army Painter and the plants are from Gamers Grass.

Looks really good Ron. I'm impressed that you could do those belts and buckles at 1:48 scale...they are small. That's got to take some patience. The baby wipes certainly add a "fabric" feel to the seats.

Thanks so much Jeff and the belts and buckles were easy compared to getting the seats done the baby wipes just didn't want to seat correctly.

Hi All,

"It feels like we're being watched", 1:48 scale.

Recipe.

Figures/AT-ST - the stormtroopers are from SEB Miniatures and the Ewoks are from Anvil Rage Studios, and I painted them using Vallejo paints. The AT-ST is from Bandai and was built straight out of the box and painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks.

Base - is made using foam and I built up the landscape until I was happy and then made the trees using PVC piping and then using Aluminium foil and wrap it around the pipes and glued it into place using super glue. I then used watered down spakfilla and brushed it over the foil and once dry it was painted with Vallejo Paints.  The branches I used Woodland Scenics tree sets and cut off the branches and applied glued and then added crushed Woodland Scenics foilage over the branches and glued them on.

The groundwork was down using garden mulch which was crushed and then applied it to the base and the stream was down using kitty litter for the stream rocks and painted them and then I used Woodland Scenics realistic water and then their Water effects to make little flows of water flowing over the rocks.
The moss on the trees was done using fine sand and green paint mixed with a little PVA glue, the grass tufts and thick ground grass I got of eBay and the ferns and plants are from Gamers Grass and the larger bushes are from Woodland Scenics.

Those LEGION miniatures add so many possibilities to the model-building of STAR WARS.
I always admire your painting skills and how you shape landscapes on your dioramas.
That AT-ST kit is still sold here in Germany and I always circle around it like a shark. I might get it some day if the price is right. On the other hand: I just can't collect everything, so I limit myself to 3.75" and a little TBS.

I think once you found the right kind of artificial plants and get a bunch of them, you're ready to go and just build what you want. Sky is the limit with your imagination, Ron!

At first glance I thought it was a trail across the scenery. But it's a small creek and it looks great!
Tremendous work, Sir! This reminded me of an open project of mine. It's big and involves some tents on a lake. Maybe I should scale it down from 1/18 to 1/48 as well...
Love your work! Thanks for sharing it here.

I love this! Lots of attention to tiny detail, you patience puts me to shame. Really excellent composition of the scene. Thanks for sharing your process too.

Hey DM, thanks heaps mate and the Legion stuff is awesome for dioramas and the resin prints people are doing with figures/vehicles/buildings and scenery is amazing, so the possibilities are endless.

I would love to see the project you're doing, and I have no doubt whatever scale you choose it will look awesome and the amount of plant products out in the market is brilliant.

Yet again thanks so much Shawn.

Thanks heaps Jeff and according to my wife my hobby is the only thing I have patience for  ;D

Hi All,

Enemy contact, Endor - 1:12 scale

Recipe.

Troopers - are from Hasbro and are the Jedha Troopers and I put them is the poses I wanted and glued the joints and puttied them up and then repainted and weathered them using Vallejo Paints and Pastel Chalks.

Base - is made from foam, the tree trunks are from the local bushland and treated with methylated spirits to stop them rotting and to kill any bugs.  The groundwork is a mixture of sand/mulched potty mix/spakfilla and the ferns and bushes are plastic plants repainted and the rest of the vegetation is from Gamers Grass.
