Hi All,

I did some work on this Scarif dio today for a comp that is happening over on the Star Wars A Custom 1:12 Galaxy FB page.

I reshaped the base using high density foam and added the tarmac by using a pencil and scribing square section into the foam and I have painted it and started adding line markings.

The equipment on the tarmac are made using plumbers connections and deodorant lids and the palm trees are slowly taking shape. The trunks are made using cardboard tube then wrapping string around them and then add tissue paper and applying it using watered down PVA glue.

Hi All,

More work done on the dio for the 1:12 dio comp happening over at Star Wars A Custom 1:12 Galaxy FB page.

The tarmac/landing pad is almost complete I just need to weather it. I have added the fuel/power containers and added the lines using old electrical cord and plastic tube for the connections.

The cargo containers were made using 1:35 scale resin 40FT containers that I have had for a few years after I did a project for my brothers business and I still need to paint and weather them.

Hi All,

Did some more work on the comp dio tonight.

I have painted and lightly weathered the cargo containers and glued them into place.
The palm trunks have been painted using Tamiya's medium grey spray and then given a wash of GW AGRAX Earthshade. Once the wash was dry I then dry brushed them using Army Painter Spaceship Exterior Grey.

The palm leaves were done by spraying A4 pieces of paper with a medium green spray and once dry I cut the paper into lengths. I then cut different lengths again and cut out a palm leaf and then folded the leaf pattern in half and then started cutting thin lines on an angle.
Once I did that I then dry brushed the palm leaves with a light green and then attached thin wires underneath and placed them into the trunk.

Wow Ron, that's a nother nice diorama! And it's even 1:12 scale? The palm trees look great! Makes me desperately want to start my 1:18 scale Scarif diorama now! You found a very nice, cheap, but effective way to build these palm trees! I like everything about it! Thanks for quickly sharing the updates!
