This is a great idea for a contest. Just to confirm for myself....."no scratchbuilt items" does this include the train diorama products that I use for my dios?

Did I understand correctly also that characters must come from movies, novels, etc.  No personal creations, correct?

That is correct.

Finally had a chance to get seriously started on the planning of mine.  And let me tell ya, not sharing this is HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!!!!  ;D  Just wish we'd not had two competitions running in Dec, right over Christmas.  Ah, well...

Clarification request - does every figure in the dio have to be a custom?  Set in TCW era, there's apt to be a lot of CT's and Battle Droids of every type running around, so I'm asking on that score.

I'd have to say that if you are using background fodder, such as CTs and battle droids, then no, they do not have to all be customized.  This is for a diorama, so that is the main focus.  If you are using a character that appeared in the movie/cartoon/book/comic/etc (NOT FAN FICTION) but was not made by hasbro, then that is to be a custom (obviously).

I hope more enter this contest, there's still a whole month to go!

Crap.  Not gonna make it.  Too much stupidity interfering.

I'll finish my project up eventually and show it off - but it won;t be by the deadline for this competition.

I am wondering if anyone has emailed an entry? I have so much going on there is no way I will finish mine up on time. Anyone other than me and Doc in the same boat? Is there any way we could get a 2 week extention on the entries?

To be honest, I don't know if anyone else is even entering this.  Doc was the only one we'd heard from at all.  I'll see what Wayne says about it.

Anyone planning to enter this contest please respond. If there is a 2 week extention I will enter. Is anyone else planning on entering?

Well, if the judges offer an extension, I'll take it and tell my external problems to go jump.  (a certain someone and his bloody website being at the top of the list...)

I'm entering it, I've been working on it non-stop these last three weeks, every little extra time I get, I was still risking getting it in at the last second, so I'd welcome an extension.

haven't heard back from anyone, so it's crunch time, got one major thing to paint still, a couple more things to detail up and then some dry brushing... :(

Looks like it's just us 3.... I really think you guys should change the yearly Diorama contest to being in the Spring/Summer... I think you'd have more people entering as they'd be able to take over their garages/patios and stuff outside. There were plenty of times I wanted to work on mine, but I couldn't because of the -10 weather... I even tried spraypainting and then bringing the diorama inside, but then I stunk up the house. When it got a little warmer(15-20 degrees), I would open the garage door a little, spray, then wait awhile, and then bring the diprama into the basement... but it'd be a lot easier if I could just spray it and leave it, or heck, set up a table outside in back and do it there.  I know not everyone uses spraypaint, but I think with larget dioramas, it's easier and I can see more people using it to cover a larger area...

Just a suggestion... :D  SHould have mine finished for sure and sent in a couple of days.

Doc, that's unfortunate.  I received entries from Joe and L.E.  You all still have until midnight tonight to get any images in, and we'll decide on a winner shortly after.

WHEN IS THE CONTEST OVER?  what is scratch building
this one was over on the 31st of Jan as denoted on page 1. The term scratchbuilding refers to "making your diorama from scratch" in this instance.
