Holy Cr__ What A Great Custom and Tutorial Of How To Do it.never heard of em. Where can I get some of those? Are they paint or ink?
One Question Have You Ever Thought Of Using Pigma Micron Pens for the Lines?
Allen
your steady hands and perfect lines never cease to amaze me clint....
I'm going to start sending all my figures to you for painting ;) lol j/k I know your busy.... but if you werent......
Great looking figure mate and teh colours work great together. Thanks a bunch, Ron. Coming from you, that means alot.
Ron
clint, that is absolutely amazing. I'm tempted to commission you to do another one for me.... He looks better than he would ever look in the clone wars' animated style! I love it. the legacy definately has the bulk, and imposing nature that a mando should have, not the scrawny anorexic look of the animated figs...I agree with you about the more robust size and shape of this figure, Spud. I was most concerned about your reaction to this rendition as your affection about mandos is well known. I also appreciate your praise as you are one of my favorite custom guys on the site.
the tiny details are perfect, absolutely brilliant!
I have to agree with Devin, this style looks so much better than the anime style imo. The detail is amazing. Daggone you even got the helmet down great.thanks so much, Shawn! You have got to know that it feels great to have finially finished a custom after such a long dry spell and have him turn out cool looking to my eyes.
Awesome custom clint! I think its really kewl when your a CW character into a legacy fig!thanks, bly. I really had a good time with this one.
That is just AMAZING!!!!much thanks, rich. I hope that I would win although the competition is stiff. If I did, that would mean that I would get to keep him and I would love to have this guy in my custom collection.
WOW!!!
I can't say anything that has not been said already!!!
I think your going to have to give something else as the Grand Prize cause your going to win !!!
Great job!!!
Rich
its an amazing job clint, really cool, looks awesome!thank you, Lux. I am proud of this one.
amazing just amazing110 clones, I do appreciate your praise, sir.
lovin that mando mate you most certainly did him justice !Don't think that I missed the praise coming directly from the astromech god himself, Jay. I certainly feel proud to have warranted such great comments from such talented people.
Well Clint my man you sure don't have any rust on you thats for sure.Well you know, Tamer, for some reason an rc custom just seems to warrant the Ole Painless gun and I am getting together the parts for one as I type this. Since he has the dc 17 rocket rounds on his backpack, I guess he will need one of those as well.
That figure looks fantastic. I love all those outlined areas on the armor and know we are in for even more and man that copper t vizor is just tops. I have got to see that on a Driver one day.
I am anxious to see how you outfit this guy as far as weaponry. One of those big cannons you mass produce would look good, but not sure thats what your going for with this guy.
Clint, this is one awesome figure.thanks alot Volker. I think that it will look better once I clean up.
I can look at your paint apps for hours in total awe and admire your work.
thanks AT!
i really like those
WOW!!!Thanks gwest! I'm still not done detail painting yet so I will have to say, it took me hours...................
That RC is amazing.
Your attention to detail is just incredible...
How long did it take you to paint all the details?
That "metal" application on the visor is fantastic!!!
Clint, this RC is freaking awesome! Your detail lines are are a sight to behold, I commend you on such tedious work. The Backpack looks just right and I love the decals. I scoured your last pics and was wondering what the missing detail was? The only thing I could find was a bit of white showing under his chin. Very well done my friend!
ooooooooooo! very cool.thank you, JM!
now THAT is heavy fire powerIndeed it is, beige-4. I want this guy to be able to take on a whole sep company by himself.
wow clint that rc looks amazing, great paint job, the backpack is awesome!Thank you, Lux. I am glad that this guy is finally coming together.
nice looks awsome (try puting hoses on his wepon from the triger to the R,P,G attachment to make it look like it has power for the firing mecanism).Good suggestion, Greg. I had actually thought of that but was wanting to use braided line like the car modelers use in their engine compartments. I just havent delved into my basement to find any yet.
-Greg
looks awesome mate as soon as i can nail some more decal sheets i will send u some different onesThank you Jay. Mate, i was hoping that you would say that. Those decals are awesome. do they make any smaller ones. With all of the molded detail on this fig, I was having a hard time finding space for some of them.
Hey Clint how much for one of your casts of that minigun??counts as 3 parts or............$5, without the bottom launchers, of course.
Well Clint I can see you made the right choice for a gun for this guy. Mounting that launcher below the rail gun is brilliant. Awesome firepower for an awesome custom. This one ranks right up there at the top. I will say top 3. I don't know that you ever will beat that Fox you made. Still shaking my head over that one.top three, really? The other two would be Fox and the camo atat driver, I would imagine. I am having a ball with this one,, that's for sure. Thanks for your praise, buddy. you know that to me, your opinion is important. Wait till I do another atat driver...............that one is going to have your name on it.
Clint I would hate to be a droid going up against this fellow. That gun adds so much more intimidation to the RC. Great job.thanks alot buddy. I am glad you like him.
Clint, it's Gundam meets StarWars. Awesome application of parts and the paintwork is simply perfect! I always love the way you put your customs together...Praise from the master, your opinion I hold in high regards indeed, Jules. Sorry this one took so long.
Thank you Wolf! It's Sprywalker who eggs me to post the high res stuff from time to time. rock and roll is right. I want it too look like this guy can lay down the law.
WOW!!! Really cool dude, I like the hi res pic with the helmet on. Looks like his ready to rock 'n' roll.
JW
Thanks guys, Yeah, I have good feelings about that kama. We will see how it goes. Thanks Mike
alright, here are a few more shots of the RC since you twisted my arm..........
I had to break out my little Geonosis rocky dio just to see how he looked on it. I really meant to weather this figure but after all the detail painting, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I will weather the next one, I promise.

ditto
That RC is just pure genious and that shot of him helmet off looking up into the air reminds me of him looking for a gunship after a heated Sep. battle. Just looks awesome.
That's great!!This is a real time tutorial, Rich. It really starts looking good when you trim it up and start painting it. I will end up trimming it up, painting it partially, mounting it, adding piping, painting more, and adding greeblies before it's all done.
How does it look when you peel it out of the Vader cape!!!
Got any pic's of the end result?
thanks
rich
I guess it is kinda wrong to wish you get laid off again isn't it?LOL, only in one way, my friend. My plan was to finish the arc arf figure, then finish your camo gunner figure, and then possibly dive back into your big gun open top atat. Man, if I could get two solid weeks with that thing, I could make it really special. Sometime, I wouldn't mind doing another custom mando and I was even thinking of using a joe body as the base.
holy . SHIT !! that is freak'in awesome
thank you very much, Rich. I hold your opinion very high indeed.holy . SHIT !! that is freak'in awesome
You took the words right out of my mouth!!!
Great job Clint!!!
A HOMERUN!!!
Keep up the great work!!
Rich
I stopped by earlier and saw the amazing camo apps on this guy, but now the whole fig looks even more amazing, especially with that soft goods kama. I'm not usually a huge fan of soft goods, but this one looks killer! ELthank you sir! You will like this kama when I am done, This technique has worked well before and the paper mache isn't as soft as you would think. It is almost a cross in between flexible and ridged.
Well done.Thank you Mungo! I got a little ways to go yet with this one.
Blowtorchscorch, thank you sir and, Let me personally welcome you to the Shipyards!! Lots of fun to be had here with alot of great members.
Looking good clint !
Holy God clint, thats so awesome!!! :o :o :oThank you Lux! This one is for the CW lovers
well i got more thank you that is awesome glad your having fun ;DThanks SH! I knew that you would like this one
MAN THIS IS EPIC, absolutely loving this custom, especially the paint scheme very nice.Thank you Rusty's! I can see that you are making yourself at home here. Love your stuff!
...... SPEACHLESSThank you Beige4 Man, I am having a good time with this one.
Looking awesome Clint! That kama is something! I am shocked how good the styrene bent at the bottom, it looks great! How easy was it to apply and what glue did you use? This is shaping up soooooo nicely!Well, it was a semi tedious task but like you, I was surprised by how easy that styrene was to manipulate. I would cut one end of the strip to the right angle if necessary "like in the front at the top where it met the stock belt at an angle" then with a bit of super glue, I would glue that starting point in place keeping the closer remaining length at a close angle where it would need to be fixed when I got to that point. I would work in about 1/4 inch increments tacking a small area, curing it with accelerator, and moving the next length into place and tacking again. It was kind of like spot welding a piece of weldment. I would have a small puddle of superglue and a small puddle of accelerator on the work bench and had a scrap of resin flash for each medium handy. As I held the section of length in place with my fingers, I would apply a fraction of a drop of glue to bond both the styrene and the edge of the kama and then I would dab a bit of the accelerator to the same area. When one tack was cured, i could bend the next loose length of styrene to conform to the kama edge shape and then tack again. Once I got to the end of each run, I would trim and test fit the dead ends of styrene and then glue and accelerate into place. I had always done this in the past with strips of typing paper but felt that the styrene would offer a more uniform width and poke out a bit more for a bit more of a presence.
mate he is looking awesome! can i make one observation (please dont kill me !) is that i think the kama is a touch too long, usually its no lower than the knees (unless that's what your going for mate ,then its all good :) )Thanks Jay, you are right that this one is too long to be a standard arc kama. I had meant to mention when I was trimming this to length that I meant to leave it longer and like Jedimerc said, I was probably intending to make it look like the bottom of just the infantry long coat that some of the ww2 German soldiers wore. I did do alot of armor modeling in the past and it was their uniforms that I most admired. Kind of a cross in between that and the long tails of a trench coat or duster. I thought that the longer length might look better with the long sandtrooper rifle that I intend to equip him with. I do plan on doing a more traditional cw arc figure in the future and will leave that figure's kama short like it should be. I will probably use a Rex fig as the base and leave his stock kama just to repaint.
Great kama work, Clint! Definitely a nice looking figure you have going on here!Hey Pat, I haven't seen you in this thread for a while. did you catch the RC figure that I finished a few pages back?
WOW!!!TY rich, I am getting closer to wrapping this one up, buddy.
The Kama looks Great!!!
The color, the trim is AMAZING!!!
I can't wait to see what is next for this camo guy!!!
Great work!!!
Rich
no need to justify, just keep on doing what you like the most and you know you are a master of clones! everyone has his favorites and all meet here at the Yards :)
Oh my Clint! This clone is super awesome! Dripping with awesome sauce all over! I love every aspect of this guy. You sir just hit a home run with the bases loaded! Very well done Clint!
Clint I can only bow my hat in respect to such a master craftsman! This latest figure is so wonderfully detailed it is an absolute joy to look at.
Hangarbay strikes again!
i can't believe all the camo and detail !thanks Pat! In regard to Jules' treatment, you took the words right out of my mouth
Clint, I love your paint style, especially the visors, and this one is no exception. Jules, you did wonderfully to create an environment fit for such a masterpiece! Thanks, Shawn, You know I have done several cw clones in the past but never kept them. I always ended up selling them off. Well, this one is definitely a keeper for me. I think that watching Jay has corrupted me to really enjoy custom Clone Wars style clones and I will do more in the future.
Wow, this one leaves me speechless.
Nice work on the image too Jules. Spot on as usual.
I just don't see how you can get any better and then you do.
Good job getting this on the fp too L.E.
This is beyond awesome.
The degree of detailing on the figure and the superb paintjob is breathtaking.
OH MY OH MY That is one great looking custom my friend truly inspiring!!!
Amazing! I am speechless!
Oh my Clint! This clone is super awesome! Dripping with awesome sauce all over! I love every aspect of this guy. You sir just hit a home run with the bases loaded! Very well done Clint!
I agree !!! I can not find the words!!!
The best custom ever!!! By anyone!!!
Love everything about it!!
Masterful work from a true master!!!!
Thanks for shearing with us!!!
Rich
words fail me.... this is unbelievable, more than outstanding, the olymp of customs :o :o :o :o
a masterpiece! I love every aspect: camo, outfit, paintjob, the markings are a stunning detail, I would put him in my glass case.
heck yeah! I'm excited to see the results of this project. I know your probably not used to painting the joe style hip joints so be careful of paint rubbing around the joint... you may need to take the legs apart (using the screw in the thigh) and then sand down the top of the thigh that fits into the waist's sockets... I don't know how much paint your going to add but if you add more than a layer or so you'll start getting rubbing issues in that area. Thanks for the tips on the joe hip joints. I may have to sand down a bit as you say. I like your idea of doing a similar version of the same figure at the same time but doubt that I could keep up with your breakneck pace. "you know how slow I am doing up figures" My plan is to do this figure in a desert camo scheme using a pattern like the one I used for that cw "shady" gray camo clone and while his gun mount is meant to place on the platform of the lowered side of a bmf atat walker. I am planning on building a tripod mounted gun that could be placed else where as well.
ya know what... I might just get in on this game as well. If your doing a "camo" version of an AT-AT gunner then I think I might throw together a standard snow-deco side gunner. I have the same parts for making that visored at-at driver helmet and I believe I also have the perfect gun for making a side-mounted big-at-at gunner's post....
HMM.... I've been dying to customize my B-at-at too so maybe this will get me started on that project!
Sounds like a heck of an idea on all parts to me. I love how your last TCW paint job turned out too. Man, that helmet turned out great. I remember when we thought it wouldn't look very good and then Psyclone worked his one figure in and then you gave it another looked and it turned out great. I would be cool to see someone with a full size costume that had a vizor this way.I'll bet that you would proudly wear one of those, wouldn't you buddy? Got some running to do now but perhaps I can get a little paint on this figure this afternoon. It's the pattern of camo on that CW figure that is to inspire the paint on this figure. Not the colors but the pattern.
Hey Clint;that one is hollow, Rich. That's the modified hollow saga atat driver helmet with visor and counts as two
This next project you have comming up looks cool!!
Do you sell that custom helmet and if so what is it called so I might order a few.
Does it come nubbed and hollow??
Thanks
Rich
Tamer, you read my mind about the kama. I will have to figure out a way to keep it from restricting the super arty legs of Spuda's modified snow trooper, though.
Spud, Is that belt glued into place or can I just slice it to remove the soft goods kama?
I will do my best with the paint, buddy. I'm thinking that the armored parts will get the camo and the under garments will get a darker off color. some kind of olive perhaps. We will just have to see how the colors go together.
This is the second snow mando that I did which is just a repaint of a non arty jango figure but has a paper meche cape and a custom extra mixed helmet. He is also guarding that mixed snow gunner helmet that I made for another figure ...
thanks art, I found some nice daytime shots of that figure on this page in my other custom figures thread with wip pics of that cape scattered in the 10 or so pages prior to this one.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
look at the cape, the camo - oh i so live this, again an outstanding job!!
Progress. I like it!Sorry for being so slow. I had resin duties to attend to yesterday and will be observing my birthday today through tomorrow. Going to a birthday party for the girlfriend's grandson tomorrow.
these are stunning masterpieces Clint
the camo is phenomanel
Shawn my friend, you're a lucky man
how did you widen the unions? Sand paper or with an exacto to trim the edges? that is a technique that I have yet to master and my paint work would probably benifit from it greatly....I used the x-acto to trim the edges and widen the part of the arm or leg piece that swallows the joint during regular motion. Then, to make the paint stick a bit better the mechanical part of the joint that gets swallowed, I cut some shallow slits in the plastic prior to painting. I still need to trouble shoot this action to see if it worked but today, I have been working to get the base tan color applied to the rest of the armor. I had debated about cobbling together some plates to put onto the front of his upper legs and may still do that. I guess after I get this base coat down, I will start on making the kama and putting those detail lines down where they are needed to the armor. I'll try to get a pic up later.
filling the holes of the screws in the legs is a debate I always come to when working on a figure, on one hand having them filled makes it look more professional... but on the other if I ever go back and work on the figure again, or need to change something mid-build then I am stuck with those parts permenantly...
of course on this project you are technically stuck with those parts anyway, you know that your going to use them, and your not going to work on this figure again after you finish it... so it only makes sense to take that next step and fill in the holes!
I'm excited to see this coming together. I can't wait to see that kama that you make for it and the cammo you put onto it.
Dude, he's got more armor than an AT-AT. I love it. If you took away the pauldron he could be a Snow Ops. Cody or obviously some other commander.
Freakin' awesome Clint! I can tell this guy is going to rock! Awesome looking concept to me. What/how did you use to fill the hold in the chest? Looks perfect!
Ah, sounds like a good technique Clint. Can we get a full body shot of him before the paint starts? Are you going with a CW style paint scheme to blend in with Rex's troopers or some idea of your own?I think that I will make it like Rex's troopers but with different colored markings. i am going to paint that hokey grey undergarment coloring back to a whitish with some grey detail lines. I was thinking an olive for the markings color. i will get a full shot of him before I start. You know, I just noticed that this figure's legs look alot like the sculpt for the cw arc trooper's legs.
This is VERY detailed and its such an original idea, a camo pilot would be awsome to have in a Battle For Endor diorama. I would like to see something like that.fiala fernbrugg made one
KRI, I am humbled and honored to be featured with the first isy card. I still consider that figure one of the favorites that I have ever worked on.
Awesome!
Thanks Pat!hows this looking
Alright LE, here is the full body shot you asked for without paint and one where I have just started putting some white testors acrylic paint over the whole body. You can see the theme beginning to take shape on his striated undercoverings. I will paint kind of a white and gray pin stripe affair there with the recessed lines in gray.

Do you cast ARC legs or is that impossible for joint reasons? If so, where do you get resin because I have a good prototype minigun I'd like to cast.I do not have a mold for arc trooper legs but nothing is impossible, there is always a way, brother. I get my resin from Hobby Lobby stores.
glad to see you back second congrats on the new family! now make us all some new parts!!!! lol ;DThanks buddy! New parts?? I was actually considering making a new mold today.
Clint! You are back in the saddle! Look out folks! Good to see you are beefing this guy up for Tamer! haha Your mods are looking great, watch and learn people. One of the first things I did after meeting Clonehead was buy a pin vise and micro drill bits. Kinda like re-bar huh buddy?Yeah, just a smaller version, buddy. LE, where the heck have you been?
Do you have molds of the one shoulder pauldron? This is the "blueeyedirishman" off ebay btw ha ha ()rr ()rrYep, it's on the list on page 1 of my parts for sale thread.
Looking good. Here is advice! If your ever going to sculpt on a figure use FIXIT. I had a bad experience ruining figs by sculpting onto them with sculpy. So if your looking to sculpt try to avoid sculpy.I am turned off by some of the qualities of sculpy, MA. I am not impressed with it's lack of ability to hold itself together after it hardens. These temporary molds I have been making like to crumble at random. I will have to keep a look out for Fixit. Have you had any experience with Miliput? It's a two part bonding/sculpting materiel.
She could easily be Parja or Rav Bralor.Interesting, a wife custom.
This is going to be a killer figure.
If you won't need the Baroness head after the project, I'll buy if off you for a wife custom.
Hey Clint, you might want to check out our Facebook Page where I shared a trick from JTA about how to shrink a helmet. I talked about it a bit on our last episode of CAFN when we get it posted. Wow, that gal is gonna be awesome. Wouldn't it be great to have a set of molds for these pieces so you could ready make Female Mandos out of any good framed gal action figure? So daggone nice to see you customizing.thanks guys! It is fun to be working on stuff again and Shawn, it is great having a set of molds to make these pieces although they require a lot of attention to make. You can't just pour em and walk away. These need to be de molded at the right time to facilitate cleaning, thinning, and shaping to confirm to the figure although they can be heated up to make the last part easier.
That looks AMAZING!!!! I can't wait to see her finished! Do you make casts of the armor? I'd love to make one like yours. 0//I do indeed, DaBooma
Clint that color combo looks great!see, that is exactly the color combo that I had thought of when I was putting the primer coat on tamer's atic gun two weeks ago as the undergarments are the same green, but it didnt turn out as I had envisioned. It's weird but fun to experience how you think a custom will turn out but how sometimes it takes its own course throughout its assembly. Keeps things fresh. You know, after roughing up the appearance of the paint on her armor like that and then detailing the gauntlets, I thought to myself "this looks like a Spry paintjob" which makes me pretty proud as you can paint, my friend. That reminds me, I still need to try and humanize her flesh some.
She continues to look better and better every update!you are very welcome. Yeah, I used to slice strips out of typing paper or recipts to make straps but started using this stuff because it was quicker and because the width was more uniform.
Nice idea using the styrene strips, might have to look into that in the future (as I've just started to sculpt simple pouches/leg straps for the first time for my figs).
The comments you made about how you go about addressing facial features and the character's eyes when painting a head sculpt was helpful. Thanks for the insights!
Clint she is looking fabulous! Such a great figure! On the belt, may I suggest a black wash to darken the beeper lines followed by either a orange/brown dry brush or tan dry brush to bring out the details. I thik that would set off the pouches for sure.I mean to do something similar, LE. I usually, brush on the darker line rather than wash. It takes longer but seems to show more definition. I had started the tan drybrush already but may need more. I have a rust color that might work under the tan.
She starting to look really good.. Nice use of the evergreen. I find it very useful for straps, belts, etc..Thanks, yep, that is what I got that stuff for. Nice and easy to use.
Looking amazing as usual. I love this color scheme. I love the blue on grey. It's reminds me of the blue scheme I did on that mando a long time ago that I mentioned in the last few posts of my thread, although yours has much more depth with the layers of weathering.I agree on the action poses needed, Devon. Yes, those were your pouches from some time ago, ergo, spudapouches. You had also sent me a regular sized mando back plate which you must have hacked off of a figure which I still need to mold. i think it would go better with the male mando armor set I have going now, size wise.
You keep calling the extra pouches "spudapouches" are those some of the cast pouches I did way back? I didn't remember sending you any. lol. shows what I keep up with! Glad you are finding good use for them!
Keep it up man, I can't wait to see this thing finished. You need to get some awesome action poses of this gal when she's finished to show off that articulation!
nice.. I like that green and gray combo you got going here.. by the way the mando girl is looking good.. Nice touch with the air coming out of the helmet..why thank you, Drod26! And many thanks to you, Shawn.
Brilliant work !!!! I may have to try this technique . Btw i really like that vizsla and the storm commando awesome workneither are done yet but I do appreciate the praise.
Very cool. I have been playing with UV reactive and glow in the dark paints myself. It's neat to see what you have been doing with it. Mostly, I have been trying to get light sabers to glow in the dark. I was thinking it would be cool to have the saber cast in glow in the dark plastic and then it could be clear coated to be the desired color.thanks big W. where dies one aquire liquid glow in the dark plastic? That is a good idea of yours, btw.

Nice, folks are gonna love this. Sorry, not waiting any longer."the enjoyment is just a click away" LOL, i love it! Thanks buddy.
Gorgeous Vizla Female Mando. Can you imagine her on a cardback? I gotta say I would love to see you try Bo Katan in this style after seeing this female mando work. She is a BLAST! Ha! Seriously she ia awesome. We need more femandos!!!
Ok how did you get the chest torso onto the body? I have your set of fem mando parts to use, I'm just curious how you added it on. Btw, love your stuff, you're an inspiration bro. Do you have tutorials for your stuff I can look up to gimme pointers?tutorials on making the custom figures you mean? Why it's all right here in this thread, more or less. I try to report as much as I can of what I am doing here but if you have any questions about what I am doing, dont be afraid to ask. I will help in whatever way that I can.

I do thank you for your comments. To get the chest armor to fit, you have to shave material off of the figures chest area or, if this isnt too harsh, give her a breast reduction. A hobby knife would work for this task but I used my dremel to cut material out of the way.
Remember that when heated, the resin will become flexible if you needed to try to re shape it but do be careful. That chest piece is delicate because I have thinned the inside of it so much.
Thanks Chad and Shawn. I would need a reference shot, Shawn. I have no doubt that we could do it.
Thanks a lot, gentlemen! I have a good feeling about this one.
If i may digress, I have another tangent project that I started last night. As I have said, I get excited about a new part sometimes and I just had to find a use for one of those Sgt Airborne heads that I just got a mold working for. I wanted to make some kind of strike team member using that head and a dollar store Duke body and I am having so much fun painting faces anyways...........
OK, one more face painting tutorial and I will quit. I started the same way, painting the whites of his eyes, then I dotted blue for the cornias paying more attention to where the bottom of the dot was in the white of his eyes. Then I used a dark grey to paint a line of his upper eyelid, once again paying attention to where the bottom of the line was. I also did the line of his mouth, his nostrals, and the line where his skin met the openings in the mask with that color. Then came the flesh. After that, I used some dark brown to paint some conservative eyebrows. and mixed a more pink version of the flesh for his lips. The raised outline of the mask openings got a dark grey and the rest of the mask got a medium grey which still looks dark to me. I used the matte varnish to seal it all except the eyes so they would retain a shiny sheen. I figure if I use this grey for the whole body and then put a 3 color camo scheme over the top of it that it will look pretty cool.
I like him. I had been thinking of giving him a stogie though. What do you guys think?

As always, fine looking works here Clonehead. Thanks for your praise, my friend. It is the curse of my terrible nearsighted eyesight that becomes such a gift when working with small stuff like paintwork or cleanup of my parts. You see, when uncorrected, with my contact lenses out, I can focus on stuff that is a mere 4-5 inches from my eyes which is a lot like looking through a magnifying glass or using one of those headache inducing headpieces but better. My curse is my saving grace in this case and the reason why i would never consider lasic surgery.
I was noticing on the last few photos the outstanding paintwork you're doing and it begs a question. On the last CAFN roundtable you made a joke about the new 6" figure line and the fact that our eye sight is suffering with age. How are you able to get that nice detail on the eyes? What's your secret? I've tried extra lighting and spectacles and I still don't get that sharp focus of yesteryear. ;D
I like the head sculpt, Avengers Widow?Yep, that is her, Shawn. Thanks Big W and DS! I am thinking of using a gold or yellowish tan color for her underclothing and am debating about doing the same fade-weather style to her armor as the blue mando gal.
She looks great; the Widow head worked well and your paint apps take away the "I'm Scarlett Johannsen" look (Is that good or bad?), makes her look a bit more "Mando".thats good. I had fun painting that head. When it was just bare resin, all the way up to when I started putting the flesh color on, I thought she kind of looked ugly but as I got closer to being done, she got more attractive.
another teaser shot. I am still messing around with the color choice. What do you guys think about the orange gold looking undercovering colors? does the scheme seem to iron manny?
Look at the left and right chest plates. The right one has a version of the lighter and darker splotchy paint of the blue female mando and the left side has lighter shade drybrushing applied. I think i like the right side better.
I also put up shot of the factory widow head next to my resin painted version. Boy, those big red lips make a difference.

If anything, the colors remind me of that Bastila Shan figure from TVC, but the yellow-orange is a bit more dulled and gritty on yours, so that's infinitely better, IMO.I agree as I was reminded of Shan as well. My plan is to use an off color for her belt and holster to hopefully make things look a bit different.
Been away for the weekend so just catching up. Some great looking work here buddy, love that Firefly head and stogie.was wondering where you had gotten to , LE. That is actually a sgt airborne head. I cant wait to get more painting done on that guy.
Looking great Clint! I think you could make a custom Firefly if you wanted to. Oh and by the way, I hope you make a cast of this head.thanks guysI Been there and done that, Tom, if you meant the single pack version, both heads.
Clint is that at-rt paint job by you?no, buddy, that is the factory original deco for the first release. It does seem to go with the arf's paint though. I had not planned on that.
amazing work as usual, a shame the visor isn't articulated though, but great execution on what you did all the same ;Di have done that before but thought the mechanics of it would look bulky for this build and decided not to.
Great update Clint and thanks for that info on the paint. I only use the 4 bottles of Valejho for dioramas or weathering. I simply don't like the consistency of the paint, even after I thin it a bit. It doesn't flow as well as model masters in my opinion. I will be sticking with MM paints and may try a bottle of Polyscale next. Dayton loves that brand and Chad just tried some and loves it.Pollyscale as in, polly s? I have loved that brand for years and seem to remember it being owned by floquil. I have a hard time finding it any more. The only shop i know of that carries it is going on 45 min+ away and their selection is lackluster at best.
I'm tripping out on that movable range finder.dont trip out, I have been doing those for years, my friend.
I just love how this femando is turning out. I literally could look at this all day long---too bad there are only a few jobs out there that would pay me to do that...and they're all taken!I bet that hasbro may have paid people to look up customs at one time. Right now, they might have a hard time finding their butthole in the dark.
gr8 looking femando, gotta admit i have the worst time trying figure colors that match and blend well togther. great job on the paint apps and all around great custom.thanks my friend. I used to be an art student in another life. I remember about the color wheel, and all of those perpetual parties that were always going on.
That's a tidy looking mando, nice work on the visor.....bet it gave you a headache getting it lined up right?thanks, nah, just a bit of trial and error. the superglue accelerator helps things go quick.
Hmm I may tyr that foil trick next time I do a Mando.the foil is very thin so a super smooth surface helps, if you are to foil something flat. it will conform to different shapes such as a model cars chrome trim which is what it was developed for. Some people use a toothpick to brandish it down. a dry paintbrush works pretty well too.
Man that mando gets better everytime i see her well done !!!thanks , I am afraid i shifted gears today and worked on Tamer's vehicle project instead of this one.
I had went to follow Spry's suggestion about putting the copper bare metal foil over the mando girl's visor but fought with brandishing it and kind of mucked up the job. I ended up painting over the foil with some copper paint I had laying around trying to get it smoother but to not much avail. I may strip it off and do something else.I like the idea of the silver foil,I'm guessing its like gold leaf from the sound of the difficulty in application.
As far as having hair like the first femando's alternate head, I had considered a removable piece to fit in between the helmet and figure's body. that way the helmet could be displayed with the figure holding it in her hands/arms without the hair attachment.
Just stunning work Clint that camo is sensational.
Ron
Top notch custom, Clonehead! Ive been a fan of your custom work for quite some time now and im sorry I am just now complementing you. Ive been extremely busy but I just wanted you to know that I absolutely love your customs! Once again, great work!thank you so much!
Great Custom! I think he is epic :Dthanks a lot! I hear you on the high prices of the arc trooper figures. Its a shame hasbro didnt make more of them. Im still looking at producing the lower legs but am skittish about cutting up a factory arc trooper for them, the feet, and the kama, of course.
I am thinking of buying some parts from your store.(and use Rex as the base)
In fact 2-3 years ago i ordered some ARC trooper parts from you and made a squad of them(using Rex bodies like you did)
I never posted them here because i could not finish my leader(who was the reason i started the squad) because i needed a blue ARC trooper as the base, (i wanted him to be like i designed him, not using a Rex body.) but he figure was so rare.
I already have 1 in my collection but i only customize seconds.
anyway great custom 10/10 O0 ()rr DH
Love the sound of this Clint. Such a great idea. I would love to have at least one of each just to showcase em.sure, buddy. Want em nubbed or hollow?
Can I get two painted up perhaps (pretty please) when you cast these?
Off to share.
I had hoped this is what you were hinting about, but am sure glad I didn't press you! Needless to say I like what you are showing up so far. Boy your missle part than connects to the hoses by the eye plates is just fantastic. I can't see Hasbro doing anything even remotely that accurate. I can see your point about the four holes versus six. Maybe drill two more holes or maybe it will be a moot point when the tusk is added? The only other fix I thought of was me mailing you a tusk, get some hydroshink and just shrink that puppy till it gets close to fitting that hole. That is probably overkill and would be costly just to get it accurate though.I hadn't really went too look for anything else that would work for the tusk plate as of yet. just a flat disk of the right diameter would work. we could work out where the holes go. ill look at it when I get a chance.
Needless to say I definitely will want one of these, hopefully with a body attached if you will take any orders. They definitely don't call you the Clonehead for nothing. I hate the fact that spring is here and the weather is getting nicer so real work will make your modding take a back seat. Daggone the real world anyway.
Off to share.
and you beat me to it...you and Shawns comments got the idea burning in my head to try this one
I had bought an extra tie pilot to do this exact conversion months ago and hadn't had the motivation to sit down and work on it.... Of course, mine wouldn't be anywhere nearly as accurate as what you are doing. Kudos. I'll watch this closely.
that is just awesomeness ! I hope these will be available later?ty
Ooo very nice!oh, it was Matt paint. Not a good mix was part of the problem. Don’t let your paint settle, folks. I had started with a light primer coat and then black on the recessed areas, shaping of the eyes, eyelids, lips, and working out from there. I’m admittedly rusty and I was having issues and have globbed several layers on top of each other at this point. My matt varnish isn’t doing much to knock the sheen down. I’ll have to try shooting some at it with the airbrush. That takes the matt varnish I use to a whole new level of flat.
I think flesh color looks better using matte paint IMO. I like to use a darker pigment as base, then dry brsuh two to three layers of lighter shades to get the right pigment :)
That airbourne helmet looks so good! Do you have a link to where u got it?
Looking good - that paint job is great! (I'll be curious to see how the airbrush technique works).im sure it will help, something about the atomization of the mist or the spacing of the particles, I don’t know but the last time I shot
That is a great helmet casting. The headsculpt is awesome too, I like the mohawk. It reminds me I've been wanting to make a Taxi Driver Rebel trooper.thanks man! I like the taxi driver idea

I got the solid one on eBay although I can cast it myself now. The hollow version is all me. Casting those also.
Here is a link to that original purge trooper helmeted head auction from mos eisly casting

He's looking great! Are you going to make him an Airborne Trooper? I think you should do 501st markings on him. They had a 3.75" 501st Airborne trooper that saw limited release. Would be cool to see a 6"!thanks man! You know, I was looking at a pic of that figure just yesterday. That would be a really cool paint scheme to do. I think that one was in a Target order 66 set, packaged with Vader
