Did anyone get that great helmet on the front page? Very nice Devin.

I am also thinking, from looking at your concept drawing, that perhaps some leg armor is in order?

Ever thought about getting some football pants and seeing what the leg padding in that might do? Probably a stupid idea, but wow I do like where this is going and would love to see it keep going. Nice work guy.

I'm toying around with a few different ideas on where to take it from here.  Originally I didn't want to take the time and effort to make a full on set of armor and only do the chest pieces...

However.

The more I think about it the more I feel like I need to make it so that the outfit looks good without the coat as well.  The coat is extremely warm and I'm afraid that wearing as part of the costume inside for long periods will be horribly uncomfortable.

I'm toying with the idea of making a similar style shoulder cape piece and then a kama style belt that resembles the sillouette of the coat...

I'm also considering creating a set of thigh and shin armors as well as the chest plate.

I've also got to design and sew together a flak vest to attach the armor pieces to....

I'll get it up today sometime, Shawn, unless you are doing that now.

Devin, that helmet is awesome. it is a very original design and has a great look to it. I would love to see you continue this outfit further and have complete faith that you could pull off these other armor pieces that you had mentioned without a hitch.

On the front page, Devin.

sweet.  Thanks for the kind words on the FP listing clint!

BTW if you guys want to see more of the handgun and my other custom guns I have a nerf gun thread going in the "misc. customs" section.  The gun in the photos above is in there.

Looks good man! I like the color schemes. That drawing you did showing the whole body was very cool and a very good drawing. Did you do that? The ONLY thing I would recommend is to maybe make your armor more dull and or weathered, unless you want it to look brand new. Oh yeah, I like the "fangs" on the helmet too, gives it some uniqueness. It looks like whatever you decide to do it will turn out awesome.

yes I did do the sketch.  as long as I don't have to draw faces I can get a pretty good rough sketch of a human like figure :P lol.

once I finish some modifications to the helmet and add the range finder I will definately be doing some weathering to it.

If I wind up doing a separate coat or kama style outfit instead of my trenchcoat I will highly weather the cloth and add simulated tears/bullet holes.

The armor pieces will also be weathered if I ever figure out how I want to make them....

When you're done you should make a 3 3/4" custom to match your 1:1 scale suit.

actually today I'm going to do the opposite of that and create a small scale version of what the final costume should resemble...

That's a good idea. Give yourself a 3-d design that you can go back to for reference. also, when you are working up the smaller verison, it might give you an advantage solving problems in the 1-1 version when they arise.

ok guys, I ripped out the old visor and trimmed up the opening and fixed the wonkyness that it had before.  I replaced the visor with a new, better fitting one...  and then I finished up the range-finder.  I also felt risky and threw on some battle-scar scratches across the front of the helmet.

(something is seriously wrong with my camera so I'm sorry for the crappy photos...)

I also went and made a prototype for the final costume (If I ever get that far with this project...)
