Happy belated birthday JD! I'm glad that nothing serious happened on that crossroad. Charcoal always calms me down, too! But seriously using charcoal is a brilliant idea! I never thought about that.

Your dio looks coal excellent!

Now that just looks tough. I like it a lot. Perfect from what I remember. I need to go rewatch that movie soon.

Off to share.

Thank you Philip. Yeah the accident could have been much worse, for both of us. Building these dioramas is kinda therapeutic, like a mini Zen garden. Yeah the charcoal makes cool rocks. I saw a little piece on my deck and thought it looked like a cool volcanic rock.

Thank you Tamer. It reminds me of a Metallica album cover or something, but instead of guitars, they have blasters.

Really looks good. I resonate with your mini-Zen garden thought.

Yeah building things definitely takes your mind off of things. You're so concentrated, there's not much room for anything else.

Okay, so I'm done with this Vandor Mountainside. It didn't turn out as well as I'd like, but the main focus will be on the Swoop. I ran out of foam board, so it'll have to do.

So basically I cut the bottom and back of the mountain out of foam board. I cut out a square on the bottom to insert the battery for the swoop. Then I attached a plastic tube to both hold the swoop and run the wires to the battery. Then I filled the bulk of the mountain with foam and charcoal. Then I covered it with sculpting plaster and plaster cloth. Then I sculpted the plaster, to make it look Rocky. Then I used Woodland scenics watercolors for the rocks. Then I mixed glue, water and woodland scenics snow shaker, to make the snow.

Looks good to me. Off to share before my interest goes kaput again. Not very happy with my ISP this morning.

Thanks Tamer. My lighting system should be arriving by Thursday. In the meantime, I don't have much else to do. If I keep fiddling with the mountain, I'll just make matters worse. I think it looks good as a background.  It's kind of funny, I started building dioramas again to get rid of all the stuff I have, and now I have more stuff than when I started. Now I have to go out and get more foam board.

Thank you Ron. I managed to salvage what I had. I tried using the charcoal for outcroppings, and uhhh yeah it was an interesting hypothesis, but that's how it goes sometimes.

Definitely. I said I'll hang up my diorama hat, but I can't, it's just too fun. Messy, but fun.

Well I'm going to call this one done. I mounted the Swoop that I lighted up in my vehicle section. http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=9458.msg213793#msg213793 and that's about it. I used hot glue to attach the 5poa head on the TVC Enfys. Done deal.  I like how it turned out. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, I just dragged my feet on buying the Forcelink Swoop. I think if I had gotten the 6", it would be too big, heavy and more difficult to mount.

Thank you Tamer. Yeah model train software makes some great lighting products. And they're really easy to install. The bulbs switches and battery packs are pre soldered, you just connect the wires, and either shrink tube or electrical tape the connections. I noticed they have side glow fiber optics, that will be great for the energy shield project I'm thinking about. Unfortunately they're sold out.
