Title: Mattel's "Jurassic World" Line.
Post by: The Spectre on January 14, 2018, 08:44:52 PM
A sneak peek at the upcoming "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" toy line from Mattel.

This one gives us our first look at the 3.75" figures.

Hopefully better unmarked pictures will surface the closer we get to next month's 2018 International Toy Fair.

Mattel has added the "Jurassic World" toys to their website! They are not available just yet but there is a complete listing of items with MSRPs so this is a great tool to figure out how much you will be spending when they are released!

Very nice resource Dan thank you for posting it. The action figures that are coming with this line seem great.

I don't seem to remember them being that articulated or well sculpted before? Could just be me though. I can't say I have kept up with that line like you.

I saw this on our Facebook Feed. I am still marveling about how much better the sculpt work seems for the figures in this line. Dan, were the sculpts as nice as the ones seem to be for this new line of Jurassic World?

I don't remember them being quite this articulated or good on sculpts.

The Walmart in Garfield broke the street date on Mattel's "Jurassic World" line!

It looks like Walmart's exclusives are battle damaged (red paint apps resembling "slashes") versions of the regular dinosaurs in the line.

I bought both T-Rex sets.

Look for reviews later tonight.

A look at the box for the Mattel "Jurassic World" Gyrosphere RC toy.

It includes a solid vinyl "Owen" figure that can be removed and replaced by an articulated one. There is room for a second figure in it as well.

Leaked images of Mattel's 2019 "Jurassic World" line!

The first picture depicts a new sub-line called "Savage Strike" which looks to be a non-exclusive extension of this year's Target exclusive "Legacy" sub-line. Each dinosaur will have some form of action feature. Blue looks like a straight up rerelease of the one from the Owen/Blue 2pk, which is a repaint of the Target "Legacy" Velociraptor. Stiggy looks to be a retool of the Target Pachycephalosaurus. The Tapejara looks to be a retool of the Target Pteranodon. The Dimetrodon is from the (still) unreleased Toys R Us exclusive "Destruct-A-Saurs" line. The other 2 appear to be new sculpts.

The "Action Attack" Stegosaurus gets a repaint and there is a brand new Therizinosaurus.

There will also be a new "big" T-Rex which appears to have some form of tail thrashing action.

It looks like 2019 will be just as hard on the wallet as 2018 had been.

The Lockwood Manor Ultimate Battle set includes a reissue of the previously released Walmart exclusive "Blue" w/battle damage, a brand new battle damage Indoraptor and the mounted Triceratops skull that played such a critical part in the movie's final battle!

There is no release date as of yet, but as soon as I find out when it is due, I will share that info ASAP!

A new "Jurassic World" electronic Indoraptor has been revealed as well as a packaged picture of the lone wave 2 "Action Attack" dinosaur.

These will be showing up before too long I am sure. The Action Attack Suchomimus should actually be out any day now as wave 2 toys are hitting pretty hard right now.

Announced today at the Mattel panel:

We are getting a Brachiosaurus in the 2019 "Jurassic World" line that will retail for $50 like the Mega Colossal T-Rex!

This is not a drill! This is actually happening!

We are also getting 19 different species next year, although they did not specify how many of those species would be new ones (the smaller dino in the image is an Amargasaurus- a new species for the line).

This will almost certainly be a reissue of the Mosasaurus that is already out. I am hooing for a slightly different deco though so it looks different than the one I have already.

Just saw this movie for the 2nd time yesterday. It's really the best JP sequel in my opinion. Ever since I saw the original I was waiting for the DINOSAURS to LEAVE the island. And they finally did it. Even all the new dinosaurs were all the ones I always wanted to see.

Problem is it makes me want all the toys now hahaha. I thought they were great before but now the movie is great! 😂  don't even wanna get $$$$$$$tarted

The new Mattel "Jurassic World" Wave 2 "Grab 'N Growl Indoraptor" is out! I scored this one at Target today. It is $29.99 and is part of the same class assortment as the Wave 1"Thrash 'N Throw T-Rex".

It is larger than the previously released Indoraptor and has light (eyes) and sound (various growls) features. When you manipulate the tail, the upper body, neck and head thrash around. When you slide some scales on the top of the tail forward, the front arms come together to grab a dino/figure, the eyes light up and the figure growls.

Size comparison: Grab 'N Growl on top, superarticulated on the bottom. The Grab ' N Growl is bigger overall- thicker physique, larger head.

I found an almost empty box of Mattel "Jurassic World" wave 3 Mini Action Dinosaurs today at Wal-Mart!

I felt the packages and scored the only ones I wanted from this wave:

Dimorphodon x2
Postosuchus

I would love to get more Dimorphodons but I think I am good on 1 Postosuchus.

I have encluded a scale pic of the regular carded "Attack Pack" Dimorphodon and its "Mini Action Dinosaur" counterpart.

The webbing on the Mini Action Versions legs is almost certainly to make the legs not get pulled off when being removed from the mold but I actually like the way it looks, gives it an alien appearance.

Looks like there will be some new Tyrannosaurus Rex figures in Mattel's 2019 "Jurassic World" line!

The first set is the "Jurassic World Legacy Collection Tyrannosaurus Rex Pack" which contains a green repaint of the current Legacy T-Rex and what looks like a newly sculpted version of the juvenile T-Rex. As this is listed as a "Legacy" product, I would expect it to be a Target exclusive.

The second item is the "Jurassic World Bite 'N Fight Tyrannosaurus Rex " which appears to be an all new sculpt. Nothing more (size, action features, etc.) is known about this figure as of yet.

We should know more at Toy Fair in February.

I have a feeling that this might be the green redeco of the TRU Canada exclusive "Destruct-A-Saurs" T-Rex w/break apart generator that out of focus photos of leaked 2 weeks back.

Hopefully in a week or so, this item will be on the shelf to confirm what it is.

There is supposed to be a ton of new stuff shown at Toy Fair (although most of the Wave 1 items are out in stores already) and I am very excited to see what they debut :)

Mattel's "Jurassic World" reveals today were not as impressive as I was hoping that they would be. It seems like a vast majority of the new items are either retailer exclusives (which are not shown at Toy Fair) or are not far enough along for them to have had production samples or prototypes at the show.

Surprisingly, several of the 2019 items that are already revealed or in stores were not represented either.

The showstopper for me was the Indominous Rex! It should be out in the fall.

They also revealed a new Colossal scale Blue!

The rest of the reveals were just redecos of 4 of last year's Roarivores and 2 of the just released Dual Attack dinos (Triceratops and Concavenator)

Hopefully we will see the rest of the line at SDCC in August!

Mattel does catch some flack for the repaints, but not much. The repaints seem to sell just as well, if not better in some cases, as the original releases. I personally like the repaints as it allows me to add some diversity to my shelves without having to repaint them myself.

I plan on getting 2 Brachiosauruses, maybe more if they ever hit clearance :)

They could probably just swap out the head on the Brachiosaurus to make a Diplodicus, so it would be a simple redeco/retool.

I think the rumor is that it will be a short film released in front of the upcoming Fast and Furious film, Calvin and Hobbs or whatever it's called.  :P

Also, I can't get enough of this line. I have been buying it since day one, and I have already filled up a huge plastic tote with stuff, plus some. Army building (or heard building) pretty much every single dinosaur is so tempting. I have to remind myself that I may never get to display these the way I'd like, so I should purchase them in moderation.

I could definitely see a person doing a room expanding Jurassic Diorama. I mean that Brachiosaurus could be the centerpiece in the middle and then expand outward. I imagine some folks are as diehard with this as we are with Star Wars. Perhaps more so because their product seems to just get better and better.
Title: Re: Mattel's "Jurassic World" Line.
Post by: Jodo on May 17, 2019, 09:26:46 AM
One issue I ran into when displaying the dinosaurs was how much room they take up. Before I moved from my apartment, I decided to test out some ideas for how I might display them. Essentially, their tails get in the way and it severely limits how many fit on a shelf. Also, since they are so large, it looks cluttered really quick.

Eventually, if everything works out, I’d like to have two book shelves dedicated to some enclosure dioramas. That way they can all be displayed, and it won’t look like a total mess. I just wish they would give us some park staff figures. That would be super nice!

I am looking forward to seeing the all new sculpts of the upcoming dinosaurs, but most likely, I will stick to my guns of purchasing movie-canon-specific species. I believe they are nearing the end of that list too, with just Segisaurus (listed on the JP map), Corythosaurus, Edmonotosaurus, Apatosaurus, Mamenchisaurus (highly unlikely they'd get to it), and an actual Sinoceratops left to do.

But I cannot wait for the Brachiosaurus. That is very exciting to me, as I have wanted a pair since I was a kid.

And hopefully, Mattel realizes how important humans and vehicles are. It would be a shame to not get a 3.75 scaled Explorer after all these years.

Funny much like GI-JOE 2 a company put the toys out too early and are clearance  from stores before the  "movie" is put out. I honestly gave up hope and thought it was never coming or just like one of the old kenner sublines that were just filler.

But those 6" I'm eagerly awaiting. Not only for my collection but for customs  ::)

Personally, there are far too many recolors and not enough new molds. I understand Mattel needing to do recolors to recoup mold costs, but the basic raptor has been recolored almost a dozen times in 3 years.

I really want the Super Colossal Indominus Rex and a few of the new mold dinosaurs. I have not heard much reaction from fandom at large as of yet as these were just revealed last night.

I think Mattel do a great job with this line. Many reviews on YouTube say that they do better than Hasbro did - especially because Mattel do not use visible screws!
On the other hand, their dinosaurs don’t seem to be able to be disassembled, again. I’ve seen some great offers over the last week, but most were pick-up only. The sellers say they don’t have boxes big enough to ship them. Others sell their broken dinos, which broke as they tried to take them apart.
So I thought I ask the guru of all toy lines here in the forum. What is your experience with these?

I still hope I’ll get a loose Brachiosaurus for about 30€...

The seller wants 25€ for this giant, but broken T-Rex:

Sorry, I just now saw your post.

Sadly, I have found that the Mattel line is a one-time-only when it comes to assembly. They are made to be put together once and left that way.

I LOVE the line myself and have just about EVERYTHING save for a few repaints that I didn't bother picking up.

I NEED that multipack! It’d be so cool to have John next to the 1/18 scale dinosaurs. Thanks for letting us know about these wonderful news! I’ll buy the set right away. Is it supposed to hit shelves this Fall?

Thank you also for your reply! The assembly is easy, but forever. That’s a disadvantage regarding the size of some dinosaurs. I might buy that broken T-Rex, fix the leg, get it into one position, add some sculpting clay to the joints to then repaint it. :)

My understanding is that this will be a regular release, but I don't pay too much attention to the 6" lines so I could be mistaken.

This cool Nedry figure is hidden in a Barbasol can that holds him and serves as a display case. For extra fun, twist the base of the can package to trigger a dramatic light effect and reveal the figure! Press the top of the can to hear these iconic lines Nedry says in the movie:

"Ah, ah, ah! You didn’t say the magic word!"
"Dodgson! Dodgson! We’ve got Dodgson here!"
"Don’t get cheap on me, Dodgson."
"Ah, no wonder you’re extinct."
"I'm totally unappreciated in my time."

How cool is that?! MATTEL just sold me! It seems MATTEL understood so much what Hasbro used to know a decade ago. WOW! Such a cool idea to give us a 3 3/4" Dennis figure!

Too bad it was supposed to be another exclusive. So without Corona, most collectors would've had to pay premium to all the resellers on ebay etc.

I'm afraid this artificial limitation bs will never end ever again...

Update on the Isla Nublar Escape Set:

TARGET still got it in stock for $29.99. If you look at the prices on ebay, I would be embarassed to claim 30 bucks for John Hammond alone in the bay. I try to order a set and have it sent to an address within the U.S.
I think $29.99 is a very fair price with $7.5 a piece.

I'm so glad that I waited on the Brachiosaurus! Bought my first one for 53€ (~$60) on Amazon. And now the price dropped to the U.S. MRSP of 49.99€ on Amazon Germany. They offer an extra coupon of 1.50€. I just had to get my second one now. How far do you think the price will drop at TARGET? This beauty started selling here for 72.99€ (~$82) or more.

One got to be patient though. It's going to take 1-2 months for delivery. So if I get lucky it will arrive before Christmas. That's well worth the wait for me though. A childhood dream came true.

Again, I could select the option to have the shipping box from Mattel sent in an extra Amazon box before checkout.

I found these mini "Jurassic World" dinosaurs tonight at Big Lots. As I already have tons of raptors and rexes, I passed on them. However, I picked up all 7 Indominus Rex figures they had.

They are 5 poa (swivel shoulders, hips and base of tail), but make for a great pack of juvenile Indominus Rexes or alien critters.

A heads'-up to all of my fellow collectors/customizers:

Target is clearancing the "Jurassic World: Amber Collection" 6" scale Velociraptors for $14.99 (originally $29.99).

If I wasn't out of fun money I would have grabbed a few as they are a great size for 1/18 scale lizard steeds.

I was just looking at Dennis in 6" the other day. He was 28€ on Amazon here in Germany. Instead, I ordered the Mosasaurus for 38€ because he goes for about 65€ in the bay by now.

$15 for the Amber Velociraptor is a great deal! Thanks for the hint, Dan! But is it really 1/18 scale? I thought the Amber Collection is completely in 6".

I'm most excited for the new reveal by MATTEL for the T-Rex with Explorer and Jimmy figure. Always have dreamed of such a set...MATTEL do everything right: They provide their products as long as there's demand for it.

Found these cool "Jurassic World: Micro Collection" figures at Dollar Tree during my wanderings today.

They are actually made by Mattel, so they can be considered part of the official action figure line.

The scaling and details on the 2 theropods (Blue and T-Rex) and the Triceratops work quite well for juveniles. The Dimetrodon (odd choice for inclusion in such a small line as no living Dimetrodon has appeared in the films, the only one in any of the 5 films was a statue in the mansion in "Fallen Kingdom") has a really odd, shortened anatomy making it look like a "Dungeons & Dragons" miniature from the 70's- which is oddly endearing to me.

The Mosasaurus is long sold out here in Germany. And I still cannot believe that MATTEL give you a T-Rex, a figure AND a vehicle for under 40 pounds MRSP! Take this Hasbro.
Happy hunting everyone! The new sets are supposed to hit shelves in June. I'm going to look for the T-Rex set, the Jeep with our favorite Nedry and the Apatosaurus. Happy hunting everyone!

They're also running a LEGO promotion 'til the end of May:

When I started collecting STAR WARS figures back in 2005 you could get a medium size/Class II vehicle for $19.99 without a figure or two Jedi Starfighters with a Jedi figure for $24.99. Hasbro doubled or tripled the price by now while MATTEL still give you a vehicle, a figure PLUS a dinosaur figure for $24.99. What's happening at Hasbro? I wonder how MATTEL can still provide this price point and why Hasbro don't..?

Before MATTEL got the license for the JW line I remember how rare & expensive the Hasbro Toys for Jurassic World were on ebay.
Since the JW like launched, people started hoarding these toys so that they never have to work again a couple years later. So today we can find pictures like these of collections to buy right off the shelves for fortunes on ebay:

From what I've heard collectors of the Jurassic World line agree that MATTEL has beaten Kenner as far as choice of products (e.g. Brachiosaurus, T-Rex Escape Set) and level of detail and realism of sculpts. I think it's fair to say that Kenner did their best almost 30 years ago, but the price point that MATTEL can provide even today is amazing!
I'm sure MATTEL's JW line is on top of the best selling action figure lines.

Well, I don't think this seller would sell his entire collection unless the buyer won the lottery. Looks like he only wants to show off how much he actually collected to sell a few years later. The items start at 45€/$55 each so I guess he won the lottery now.

I heard of a vintage collection that was at auction here near me a few years ago. Just oodles and oodles of momc star wars stuff. I never even heard of the collector nor knew of its existence. I guess if it brought its owner joy then thats great, but wonder if this person was always planning on doing it to sell off.

Here in Germany ALDI have a wave of 4 different dinosaurs of the Camp Cretaceous line for a week now. They cost 9.99€ each and people re-sell them on ebay for 15-33€ already! Crazy times.
But I'm happy to see large chains like ALDI order from MATTEL, that helps the line and helps bringing on new products.

Do you think buildings for the JW line would sell?

These huts are from SIMBA, a German toy company. And they’re pretty perfect for 1:24 scale dioramas. So I unboxed one of my JADA JW Jeeps and put the Legacy Collection T-Rex next to it. It’s the smallest of the 3 first releases. And I have much joy with this 1/24 scale setup:

Indeed! I wonder if that's something for MATTEL to consider. I mean kids would have something to destroy with their dinos, right? I love the fact that they finally made both vehicles of the original movie, which Kenner did not. I could also see them make the Gate to Jurassic Park! I'm not a fan of the Jurassic World trilogy, but they made the franchise return and that's such a gift to all fans around the world. Mattel really do a fantastic job on their Jurassic toys!

Kenner did make both JP vehicles, but not in the line for the first film. The jeep was in the line for the first film, but the Explorer did not get a toy until the 2nd film's toyline.

I doubt Mattel would commit to a full playset like Kenner did in the old days, but I could certainly see the park gates getting some form of release as they are so iconic to the franchise.

Stopped by Target before earlier.

They had the "Jurassic World" Slash 'N Battle Scorpios Rex ($24.99) in stock.

It is significantly larger than the one that comes in the pack with Kenji and the Gyrosphere as shown in the second image.

The larger one's articulation is tied to a pair of action feature buttons. The first button, higher on the spine, controls a slashing attack with both arms as well as a lunge and snap of the head and jaws. A second button, lower towards the tail, controls a side strike from the tail. The only articulation that moves freely is the legs. So if you want superarticulation, go for the smaller one in the pack with Kenji.

Personally, I want both to be different individuals. I have the smaller one already and will get the larger one next paycheck when I have more fun money.

"Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous" Scorpios Rex Comparison.

The smaller one is from the pack with Kenji and the Gyrosphere. The larger one is the "Slash 'N Battle" version.

Pros:

The smaller one has much better articulation as most of the larger one's articulation is tied to the action features. The smaller one also seems to be more accurate in size to the ones featured in the "Camp Cretaceous" Netflix series. The larger one's jaw is much more flush with the neck than the smaller one's which has a weird gap where it looks like it is not pushed all of the way into the neck, but actually is for the teeth to line up properly.

Cons:

The larger one's articulation being tied to the action buttons. The jaw gap on the smaller one. The smaller one cannot stand on its own without one or both front arms touching the ground.

I actually like having 2 of these in different sizes so they can be different individuals of the same species. There is also a 12" "basic" budget version that should be popping up at discount stores like Dollar General soon so I will be picking up at least 1 to see how it measures up.

Thanks for your comment, Dan! I'm not allowed to give anything away, but chances are there that we might see the Brachiosaurus return in tri-color pattern. It would follow the repaint of the Mosasaurus or Stegosaurus for example. Personally, I think it would be a smart move to use the tooling for the Brachiosaurus and Apatosaurus, again. And if the second version looks better than the first release, I might repaint one of them myself.

Figures of Triceratops sell like hot cakes here in Germany. So they're rather hard to find and expensive on the secondary market. However I got a used one for 13€ yesterday and might give it a repaint.
What do you think? Mattel have released several repaints of this "Primal Attack" version and mine is played with and not the nicest design in my opinion.

Really looking forward to next year's additions to the line. Hope to see another version of the Brachiosaurus and the second Ford Explorer with Alexis / Lex and a re-release of the Jeep Wrangler is always a win.

So I think it's the perfect occasion for a collection update to end the year:

Thank you so much for sharing this great news, Dan! I think we're off to another great year with Mattel's JW line! Heck, it's even a movie year! I'm eager to finding out more about their new Hammond Collection!
And are we finally getting a 3.75" Lex? More vehicles are always welcome as well...how about some helicopters in 1/18 scale? So many possibilities...sky is the limit.

With how poorly they have been selling, they will get clearanced eventually. In fact, I forsee the entire line going on clearance in the next few weeks as the "Jurassic World: Dominion" line is slated to hit around the 18th of this month.

Spotted this brand new "Jurassic World: Dominion" "Micro Collection" 5pk at TJMaxx!

There are 3 all new juvenile dinos in this set: Carnotaurus, Indominus Rex and my favorite dino of all time- Ankylosaurus! I saw some concept art for this series yesterday that didn't show these 3 but did show an all new feathered Pyroraptor, which I will buy every single one of that I see when they hit :)

This set retails for $5.99 which is cheaper than buying singles at Dollar Tree now.

www.dinotracker.com

This is a promotional website for the new "Jurassic World" that follows the "Department Of Prehistoric Wildlife", an agency in the film. It has a world map with different dino encounters on it. Each spot has either a short video (red spot) or a photograph (blue spot) of the dino encounter as well as a description of the encounter. This will be updated regularly leading up to the release of the movie.

The boxed image is the "Outpost Chaos Playset" and the loose image is the "Battle Gate Playset", which looks to be a smaller version of the Outpost Chaos set (and probably connects to the larger playset to make a bigger set).

Picked up my first Jurassic Park toy ever.  Had my eye on the T rex and Explorer Target exclusive. Trying to wait for a sale. Then I found the Hammond collection which for a higher price point, the dinos come with additional articulation. Picked up a raptor. Second wave is supposed to have the T-rex so I will be grabbing that instead of the Explorer set. The truck's cool but really wanted a nice T-rex.

Honestly I think what its come down to is collecting SW just isn't FUN anymore. Its now pretty much having to preorder everything months in advance. Its far more fun to find something in the wild and take it home.
Title: Re: Mattel's "Jurassic World" Line.
Post by: Darth More on May 22, 2022, 03:29:41 AM
Raylen, I agree. The T-Rex escape set is exclusive to SmythsToys here in Germany. They sold it for 49.99€ until I didn't expect them to lower the price anymore. But in January they reduced the price by 5 bucks so I got 2 for 44.99€ each.
I hesitated to buy JW toys until a friend of mine sold his big collection. Now, I decided to sell most of the JW toys I got so far and focus on the Hammond collection, which is an absolute blessing for 3.75" fans replacing the Legacy Collection in an even better way.
The quality and price point for the figures and dinosaurs is great!

Doesn't it seem like many things are going that route nowadays?

I mean you can't even go to the new car lots and get one. You have to reserve it now. It drives me nuts. Stores should sell stuff, not preorders for stuff!

Everytime I go past the Jurassic park stuff im like, no i can't collect another line. I do want that playset though, I can use the fencing.

I never had luck finding stuff in the wild, even during the potf2 era. It took the longest time to find a vader or stormtroopers. It wasn't until the SOTE Xizor 2 pack I actually got a vader. Then the green cards came out and I got the ROTJ one and the electronic emperor. Trying to  play star wars without vader and a few stormies is tough. I had a Vintage jabba and boba fett, so most of my collection centered around them. Preordering is lame but, 9/10 if you order it you'll get it.

Looks like Target either over ordered their "Jurassic World" exclusives or they are selling poorly.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex Escape Pack is $24.99 (50% off of the original retail). The Target in Clifton must have had at least 50 sets in 3 spots in the toy department.

The kitchen and the rampage sets are also on sale- $13.99 each. The super colossal Giganotosaurus is also on sale for $30.

Mattel at least repaints their dinos instead of just repacking them in most cases. There has been the odd straight repack though, but rarely more than once a year or so.

The Hammond Rex is a brand new mold though, head to tail. Just like all of the Hammond Collection figures.

3 new dinos (Ankylosaurus, Carnotaurus and Indominus Rex) join 3 repacks (Velociraptor Blue, T Rex and Stegosaurus) in this assortment. "Jurassic World: Dominion" Masie is a decent enough figure that is appropriately petite when scaled against an adult figure in the same 3.75" scale. Her articulation is more or less standard for humans in this line- ball joint head (movement is limited due to her long hair in front of her chest and down her back), ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge hips (for lateral movement), ball hinge knees, but she lacks elbow and waist joints like all of the young girl figures in the various "Jurassic" movie based lines due to her thin physique (the cartoon based teen girls have these joints as they have thicker builds). Her outfit is replicated quite well from the early portion of the movie, but for my sci-fi based needs she is a bit to "earthlike", although her outfit does somewhat resemble those worn by the "proto-Rebels" in "Andor" so I may end up keeping her for a diorama. The 2 examples I got both have an odd paint defect in which her brown right eyebrow slightly extends into her blond hair, but otherwise both have excellent paint applications. She comes with a really nicely sculpted satchel and a small, but very thick knife (I forgot to add her accessories during the photo shoot).

The Beta (Velociraptor Blue's baby/clone) is exactly the same as the one from the wave 1 Owen/Beta set so I will not bother reviewing it here.

The real star of the set, for me anyway, is the Lystrosaurus. This canine-like dinosaur only really has one brief scene in "Dominion" (and it has nothing to do with Masie making its inclusion in this set baffling- unless there is some kind of deleted scene with them together) and it is the only representation of this species in the line so far aside from a teeny tiny rubber one in the "Mini Action" blind boxes. I focus on all of the unique species in the line as I do not need any more velociraptors, triceratops, T-Rexes, or any other "main" species since I have a ton of them from various manufacturers over the last 40 years already, so this was a must have for me. The Lystrosaurus has a ball hinge neck and 4 swivel hips, basic articulation that kind of limits its poseability- some lateral motion in the hips would have been nice and maybe an articulated jaw at least. The paint is very well done with no slop or overbleed anywhere on my 2 examples. The figure does suffer a bit from the ugly pull out DNA tab, but it is only visible on the left side of the figure leaving one side unmarred. Some of the species with armored scales hide these tabs really well, but the ones with smoother hides are not able to camouflage them as easily.

Apparently, Mattel cut production on this set way short compared to the other 2 sets in this assortment ("cowboy" Owen w/Parasauralophus and Ian Malcolm w/Velociraptor and 3 mutant locusts) so whatever made it out into the wild in the first shipment is all that were made, making this a very difficult set to get. Many online toy stores have had their pre-orders canceled by Mattel and had to refund their customers. I got very lucky when Amazon had them up a few weeks ago.

All these above are some crazy cool finds and awesome deals! I think the thing I'm most thankful for in MATTEL's JW line is the variety of 3.75" human figures. I just wish they made the Hammond Collection available here in Germany and the rest of Europe.

There's quite a few stuff on sale at Smyths Toys here at the moment. Some sets are even cheaper than at TARGET currently:

This would've probably been the MRSP for this set back in 1993/94... :')

Looks like the info on this drops tomorrow. Let's hope it's not a bunch of dinosaurs, characters and accessories that we already have just bundled together with the gate.

Another notable clearance from Walmart.

This Walmart exclusive "Jurassic World" Copter Combat Pack originally retailed for $37.99, and is now on clearance for $15 (your store price may vary as Walmarts hit different clearance levels at different times).

I know a few people that have been waiting for a price drop on this set as they wanted the helicopter for their military action figures.

I need to do some gardening. But before I do, I thought I'd take out my Apatosaurus for some pictures.
A couple days ago I learned that the horsetail that grows plentiful in our backyard must've been on dinosaurs menu already! Some people and even athletes use it for healing and adding to their diet nowadays. It's called Acker-Schachtelhalm in German and Equisetum arvense in Latin.
It must not be mistaken with the swamp kind (Equisetum palustre), which is toxic to our organism.

I think it looks like a dry riverbed.

My brachiosaurs received so much attention lately, that I thought it's time to give some love to this gentle giant, too! MATTEL's dinosaurs only become bigger. I might sell one of my brachiosaurs and get the Hammond Collection one.

By the way it looks like their crowd-funding project is going to go the Rancor's path:

Pictures are great! We have the swamp horsetail here - no eating that! I'm not surprised about the Jurassic Park campaign, not enough "new" to get people really excited. They needed a unique dinosaur and some different characters and some additional "gear" and it might have taken off.

I was hoping to see more of these types of dinos in 65 mya, but I liked it good enough.

This set was listed at SmythsToys about 2 weeks ago. I'm going to one of their stores today and take some pictures of their latest arrivals:

2024 "Jurassic World" checklist.

Lots of ugly, visible action feature knobs/wheels/etc. In this line. There are maybe 2 items that I would actually buy :(

This morning, while grocery shopping, I grabbed Walmart's annual toy book.

It was full of the usual stuff like store exclusives and the larger and more expensive pieces from each line.

One thing in particular stood out to me:

On the page with the "Jurassic World" items (2nd image), there is a 2024 item pictured that has not been released as of yet (3rd image). Maybe this means that Walmart will be getting it for the holidays in advance of its general release next year?

MATTEL Creations

No new topic needed because I'll never buy there, again!
Why do I pay a premium for shipping? Thought it shipped from the Netherlands, but it actually came from New York. So 10€ for shipping don't feel as bad anymore.

There is an unannounced variation on the Target exclusive "Jurassic World: Legacy Collection" Velociraptor Containment set!

The raptor cage is available in either a metallic dark gunmetal color (left) or a flat, light gray color (right)!

The 3 sets I got late last year were all gunmetal and the 5 I got today are 3 gunmetal and 2 gray.

This isn't scaled to the 3.75" line, this is part of the Super Colossal line. None of the dinos in this line are even to scale with each other, they are just giant sized for kids to play with, like those 36" Batman/Superman and Star Wars figures that pop up everytime there is a new movie released.

I use them with my 3.75" stuff to be Kaiju sized monsters though.
