I am particularily starting this link because of a chat between Red_Two and I last night during game one of the World Series. Pretty much to talk about anything baseball.
-
Game Two of the World Series comes on tonight. I hope the Phils can put the Yankees in a deficit again.
-
Well, I'm a Cubs fan, so I'm forever cursed! I don't particularly like the AL, and HATE the Yankees. Buying a team does NOT mean you bought the World Series. I hope the Phils destroy the Yanks! Although, with football and hockey going on, and the Cubs not in the Series, Baseball is dead to me until next year!
-
I am torn, I was a big Yankees fan when I was a kid, I vivdly recall watching Mr. October but I do hate the way things have went with the big money teams.
-
I'm a Red Sox fan, so of course I'm rooting for the Phills this year. It'll be nice to see Pedro pitch again tonight. Man, our season's been over for 2 weeks now and already I'm missing the sox lol.
Phatty I feel for you. As a sox fan I know what cubs fans are going through. I would love to see them win the world series one day (except of course if its against my sox :P). Hell, we did it twice, I'm sure you guys can do it soon too.
-
I'm hoping that now that the Cubs are privately owned instead of publicly, we'll get some real results. Get a new GM, do some honest scouting, get some quality draft picks, go after a solid pitching rotation, drop Milton Bradley in the lake, get rid of Soriano, and get some players who are more consistent and play harder!
-
Yea I agree about Milton Bradley. The Cubs need to dump him, maybe get something for him. Problem is I don't think anyone would want him, not with the way he ended the 2009 season. He reminds me of what Manny was with the sox in 2008 leading up to the trade deadline.
Speaking of trades, got a website for anyone interested, which gets updated pretty much everyday. On the right hand side, if you scroll down about half-way you can follow each individual team's rumors.

The Phillies might have lost last night, but it was a fun game to watch altogether. Hopefully their luck improves in Philly.
-
Another great game last night. Homeruns by both teams, although the Phillies lost.
-
3-1 Phils, Bottom of the 3rd, 0 Outs, Man on First. I'd say it's going well, especially with Howard up.
-
6-1, Bottom of the Fourth is even better!
-
Looks like the Phillies beat the Yanks 8-6 to force a game 6. I'll give it this much, it's been a decent series so far. GO PHILLIES!
-
That's the spirit! Thank you, Pat.
-
I would have been more watchful of it had it been almost anyone but the Yankees. I feel they're a communist or even Marxist organization. And for as much money as they throw at these players, flat out buying them from other teams, you'd expect them to win EVERY year, without question. A-Rod is NOT worth the money he makes, as he fails to produce under pressure. The rest are good players, but other than Jeter, NONE of them are GREAT players. I'd take a team like the Twins, who win and play hard for an entire payroll less than 2 of them damn Yankees.
Now, if the Dodgers were in instead of Philly, I'd watch, because I'd LOVE for Torre to have beaten the Yankees. That would be awesome! Of course, until my Cubs make it, I'll be forever put out by it!
Now, all this said, watching the highlights from SportsCenter, I have to give credit where it's due. The Yanks are playing good ball. Still, I want to see Philly pull it out and repeat over them Yanks!
-
Amen Phatty!
-
waiting for the new season to start .
-
My Dad and I are trying to get some tickets for the new season. GO PHILLIES!
-
The regular season is winding down, and I certainly hope the Phil's clinch the series (If they haven't tonight(I missed the game, lol)). Overall, I hope we win the series this year...
-
Void the last post. I see that they're playing right now! ::)
-
Well the 2010 regular season has come to a close and unfortunately my Red Sox will be watching the postseason at home this year. Injures were too much, as well as inconsistencies from the bullpen as well as the starting pitching made up for a down year. It was a pretty boring year actually, noting really exciting.
Anyway I'm here to preview the 2010 postseason and give out my predictions. Let's start with the Division Series (best of 5).
American League Division Series (ALDS)
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Texas Rangers
Prediction: Tampa in 4.
New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins
Prediction: New York in 5.
National League Division Series (NLDS)
Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Prediction: Phillies in 4.
Atlanta Braves vs. San Francisco Giants
Prediction: Giants in 4.
I'll be back after the series with my Championship Series predictions.
-
Great predictions, Dave! I'd love to see the Phils win it in 4. I have to check the final score of last night's game. It was 2-4 when I last checked...
-
7-4! We came back, once again! :o
-
7-4! We came back, once again! :o
Yeah I forgot what inning it was, but the Reds brought in that young kid Chapman. He was consistently throwing 100 mph, but that inning the Reds defense just fell apart. The right fielder missed a ball, I think he lost it in the lights, and after that all hell broke loose.
And what the hell is up with the Rays? I expected them to easily take this series and they're down 2 games to none.
-
A little late with my Championship Series predictions, but better late then never I guess. I gotta say, not bad with my Division Series predictions though, three out of four. Texas surprised me. Anyway, here's my predictions for the Championship Series (best of 7).
American League Championship Series (ALCS)
New York Yankees vs. Texas Rangers
Prediction: New York in 6.
National League Championship Series (NLCS)
San Fransisco Giants vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Prediction: Phillies in 7.
ALCS: I hate to keep picking New York, but I think they return to the World Series again. If they were facing Tampa Bay, maybe I'd be singing a different tune here. CC had a bad Game 1, but the Yankees found a way to win. They also have Andy Petitte who is a big game pitcher. Their lineup is scary too.
NLCS: This was a hard one, but in the end, it all comes down to pitching. With the addition of Roy Halladay, I think the Phillies squeak by in 7.
-
I can't help but mention here, I HATE THE YANKEES!!!' They're what's wrong in all of sports today. And for what kind of money they're throwing at these players, there's no reason they shouldn't have won every World Series since the 60s. It just goes to show how overpaid these punks really are. I love the small market teams like Minnesota or Tampa Bay who do well. So, I guess I have to root for the Giants here. I like Lincecum, he really is a freak! Plus, the Phillies won not too long ago and I really don't care for Philly fans.
-
The Yankees lose! Theeeee Yankees lose! Sorry, I had to, being a Red Sox fan and all. Now that that's out of my system..
Totally wrong with my predictions lol. The Giants are going to the World Series for the first time since 2002, while the Rangers are there for the first time in franchise history. The Giants were the underdogs and beat Philly, while the Rangers surprised me and knocked out New York in 6 games. Just like the Championship Series, the World Series is a best of 7.
San Fransisco Giants vs. Texas Rangers
Two teams. One Champion. Who will win the Fall Classic?
Texas has been sneaky good this postseason, which is why I pick them. Rangers in 6.
-
Anyone else watch that WS game 5 last night. So good, I don't care for either team but that was a pretty good game by KC. I thought for sure the Mets had it, but the pitcher got cocky, and wanted to be the hero.
-
I watched it last night too. The Royals set a record I think with the most runs in the postseason from the 7th or 8th inning on with 40 runs. That's impressive. Good for them though to win it this year after losing game 7 last year.
I was rooting for the Cubs, being a Red Sox fan I know what the fan base is going through. Not only that but I wanted the Back to the Future prophecy fulfilled also lol. The Cubs are on the right track though, they should be good next year.
The only upside to baseball being over is now the teams can start making trades and signings. Hopefully the Sox make some good ones (still need an ace).
-
Yeah I was pulling for the Cubs too. I'm just glad this year had teams other than Yanks or Giants.
The O's gave up a lot last year, hopefully they can pick some guys up.
-
The O's might be losing some key players this offseason. I know Chris Davis is a free agent, as is Darren O' Day. I think Davis will walk and sign elsewhere. I don't want the Sox to sign him, they shouldn't commit all that money for first base. Number 1 priority should be pitching. I don't think the Sox will sign him though. I do like the power he has but he does strike out a lot. We have Ramirez as our first baseman, I'm sure that'll work out great (sarcasm). We also have Travis Shaw who impressed me when he was called up.
I would love to see the Sox get O' Day and beef up the bullpen. Not only that, I wouldn't have to face him anymore in MLB The Show haha. That submarine pitching style kills me!
-
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about losing Davis and O'Day. Davis is a beast, but he probably wants more money now. O'Day is my favorite pitcher, he has that wicked submarine pitch nobody can hit from. Wieters is up for grabs too, he's one of the best catchers in the league, when he's healthy, I can't remember the last time he really played. I don't see them re-signing him. Chen is a free agent too, hes good but not great for being a star pitcher. We will see what happens. Maybe they'll free up some cash to get someone, but they're not big spenders. They lost a few guys last year and didn't pick anyone up, if they do the same this year they need new upper management.
