Alrighty!  Finally able to finish up my entry for this contest!  I previously posted this guy as a WIP, but he's all painted up and complete now.

I went with a weapon other than a lightsaber just because I think it would be more realistic that not every jedi in the upcoming ST would have one (i.e. maybe the Empire had confiscated Ilum's supplies, destroyed all natural crystals...or something like that ;)).

Here's Harn Vandeth, Jedi Master (NJO):

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

Wow, now that is just plain cool Jedi Merc. That shoulder and neck armor sure does look good on him too. Like the colors you used on  him too and that weapon turned out great.

Nice! I like the colors on this guy, looks very original. The double blade looks very nice too, the electricity is a nice touch. My favorite part about this guy has to be the neck/face armor thing, it all comes together very well.

Thanks for the comments; I'm actually shocked that my wife gave me a couple hours to tune him up and photograph him before the contest ended!  I'm just hoping that we see some of the same technological limitations in the ST that made the OT so entertaining.  The fact that light sabers were outlawed and likely in short supply, coupled with my own view that the Empire would have targeted a place like Ilum (light saber crystal "supply base"), would mean that post-ROTJ Jedi would need to seek alternate weaponry.

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

Thanks for checking him out!  I used the head from a Red Faction 3 3/4 figure (don't recall the name of the character).  I found a couple sets of these on clearance at Target last fall.

This is an amazing figure, so elegant! Not a word I find myself using for customs but it applies in this case. Really exceptional work as you have created an original character that makes you interested in his story when you look at him. Great ideas and execution all around.
