Spook, THANK YOU! This is a GREAT tutorial and very well-written and easy t understand! I am currently using foamcore in a fairly large project, so this is very helpful to me right now.
So far, I have one question. How did you make the first small "edging rail" around the curved platform that you cut the light holes in? (refer to below photos)
First I cut slots in the edging of the landing platform so that later I could insert LED lights to illuminate the platform

Then I put another layer around the edge of the landing platform to cover the slots

Okay, that's what my *guess* was that you'd done. Thanks!!

Wow, uh, don't know what to say other than I like this a good bit.
TESB is my film, I only collect items of this genre now, and this diorama rocks. Thanks for sharing with us how you did this.
I could definitely see a bmf falcon or bmf slave one on this (as long as it is in TESB colors Clint). I am also left wondering what the best astromech would be to use for this meaning; have we ever gotten an R2 with a good rod interface?

can't wait to see this when it's finished.

Wow, that's incredible! I love the darker shots with the backdrop in there. I think it might be cool to light the backdrop someway without making the platform any brighter as those lights add the perfect effect.
-
Oh man that is even more awesome! I agree with Clint one light on that backdrop would be spectacular!
-
Oh yeah, great update. On the front page. Wow, I wish I could make something like this.
-
