Have you seen this great tutorial by JKNO? I really have come to respect his knowledge on this type of stuff:

Personally if I had to get one myself I would probably either go with

Efx

or Shepperd if I could get one of the kind European Yarders to ship it over here for me. That was the fellow who made the original armor. Heck of a lawsuit which George ultimately lost which allows him to stay in business. He has tons of great SW Items.

Personally, I would think a helmet from the guy who designed the originals, new mold or not, would probably be good.

As for the Efx helmet, I have a friend Whit who bought one and walked around at C6 in it and said his looked better than some of the 501st sculpts he saw.

Still, JKNO owns a few. I would pm him and get his take. He sure hasn't steered me wrong.

Well I don't mind helping with this at all. It is hard to find some dedicated one to one help when you are just getting started with costuming. I have had quite a few good pointers from some five oh first folks, but tend to think I annoy them with my many questions and you sound exactly at the stage I was about last year this time and I have found quite a few interesting tidbits with stormy lore when I was researching driver stuff.

There are right now over one thousand eby auctions for stormtrooper helmets, even Shepperd stuff in the usa. I think you can easily get what you want for that price with fantastic accuracy. I am a good one to extoll patience, but I researched my driver purchase for over a year before I decided. Take as long as you want and enjoy the whole experience. I too aim to own a stormy bucket one day myself.

Here is one of the armor kits I told you about for almost three hundred. Tell me that doesn't look good.

I have seen these helmet kits and think someone like you could really make one of these sing for as little as a hundred and a quarter:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stormtrooper-ANH-ESB-Star-Helmet-Kit-Prop-/170913913761?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27cb435ba1

I also think you can't go wrong with Efx either. Here is a cool Stormy Commander one for an awesome price:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/eFX-STAR-WARS-COMMANDER-STORMTROOPER-HELMET-LIMITED-EDITION-of-501-/120981407617?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2b0dc781

That one was pretty limited from what I know. Of course most I guess just want the white, but you can get one of those around that same price too.

Fire away, it will give me something to look into as trust me I will have one of these buckets some day too. I can easily see getting addicted to one to one scale props. I have no doubt you have caught some of the E-11 Blaster itch too. There are some awesome kits to build one even using a hasbro toy blaster.

I hear you on the proper web sites thing. Sounds like you are getting closer. Can't wait to see the pics of the one you get.

You get your bucket then you will want your armor.
