Looking for: Galactic Marine Helmet/head
« on: June 19, 2021, 06:16:06 AM »
All right hive-mind,  I'm looking for a 3d file of a galactic marine's helmet that is SOLID, not hollow, to print for a 6inch custom figure.  Anyone know of one out there?  Or could edit a file that I have that is a hollow "removable" 1:1 scale helmet?

I asked forum member and printing expert RuhrTrooperCustoms and got an instant reply! So credits go to him! He sent me a link of Galactic Armory:

Thank you, Daniel!

I've seen that set. Unfortunately they are designed to be a 1:1 wearable armor and as such the helmet is hollow.  When I shrink it to 1:12th scale the helmet won't print correctly.  I don't have the ability (or knowledge) to modify the file to make the helmet one solid piece.  That's what I'm looking for.

Wow, what a great file if you can print one to one though.

Thanks Philipp!

Devin, you would think there would be something in the design software to fill that void. I know there is a lot for me to learn and find out about these.

This is gonna be a fun section I can tell.

I downloaded Blender hoping to be able to do just that but it took me 3 hours and several youtube tutorials just to figure out how to load the files and then navigate around them.  Modifying or editing them is beyond me at the moment...  Maybe someday.  For now I think it might be easier for me to just chop up a snowtrooper helmet and do it the old fashioned way!

I'm sorry, that's all Daniel and I found. Thought you could maybe scale it down and add a negative for a ball-joint to make it solid. I only know the program Rhino for the dental industry.
Maybe Kaminoan_Customs on Instagram will help you or this helmet on ebay:

I keep hoping they will make an idiot proof design software and then I will probably take the plunge.

I remember the learning curve when I decided I wanted to learn how to make websites and I think I am too old to go through that again; maybe.
