Picked this one up at TRU today for $17.95?
Aside from the elevated price, I had been looking forward to this one as it was shown in one of my favorite season 1 episodes.
Like alot of the other new vehicle releases, this one comes with a display backdrop that this time is integrated into the structure of the package. Although perferations were present on two of the seams to make the process of assembly easier, it was a booger to get that box open without ripping part of the backdrop. There were tabs all over the place with tape to boot. After carefully removing the fig and the vehicle from the box, one is presented with a decent animated obi wan sculpt with super articulation but not the clone articulation in his hands. The paint work looks good and there is a peg hole in the back from a backpack on an earlier released version. He comes with a lightsaber.
The Freeco bike is pretty awesome with 3 fold-away landing gear and a frosted front canopy that slides forward to allow access to the cockpit. The cockpit is decently detailed and has a two handled yoke that a figure can easily hold while not leaning all the way back in the seat. The color scheme looks pretty spot on and while I had thought upon viewing earlier pics that this speeder was scaled too small, upon closer inspection the size appears spot on.
For a pleasant change, this vehicle fits fairly well into it's provided cardboard backdrop diorama and looks pretty spiffy displayed in it.
Besides the elevated price, this one is a pretty solid by,especially if you are into speeders.
About the Obi Wan............Why not make us a winter geared Obi wan for this release? I'm sure that Hasbro is making one and may very well re release this craft with a snow ops obi or ani. That would have made the whole purchase a no brainer for some who might otherwise be scared off by the price.
