Re: Darth Optimus' Customs 10/17 Kenner Predator Sith Lord!

Thanks!  Here is my latest figure in my Kenner Predator Upgrade project.  For those unaware, Kenner produced some kickass Predator toys in the late 90's.  Be today's standards, they are simple...5 points of articulation, minor paint, kid-friendly rocket firing doodads.  BUT, the sculpts are fantastic.  I've taken it upon myself to modify them.  It's a great opportunity for me to enhance my customizing skills.  This is kinda like "Pimp My Predator".  Anyway, here is my latest - a Predator Sith Lord, from the Old Republic timeline.  You know...it's easier to make up stuff for that time frame.

Darth Ravage, Dark Lord of the Sith.  Darth Ravage is a Yautja, known the galaxy over as a species of hunters.  While most Yuatja hunt simply for the thrill, some have left the clans and gone rouge...operating as bounty hunters.  Even rarer still is the Yuatja pup born strong enough in the Force to garner attention from those seeking followers...be they Jedi or Sith.  Taken from his clan early on, Darth Ravage was raised on the Sith world of Korriban.  Quickly rising thru the ranks of the Sith, Ravage was apprenticed to Darth Feral, the infamous Wookie Sith Lord.  Ravage is only one of a handful of apprentices Darth Feral didn't kill himself (Feral killed more of his own apprentices than any other Sith Lord in their history).  After a long and tumultuous apprenticeship, Darth Ravage was granted the title of Dark Lord.

Darth Ravage puts his innnate hunting abilities to the utmost use.  He is the most skilled lightsaber combatant of his generation.  Among the Sith (and the Jedi) he is known as the "Council Killer".  This nickname is the result of Ravage's single-handed decimation of 5 of the 12 Jedi on the Master's Council.  He also wields Sith Lightning with deadly accuracy and utilizes Force Speed, Force Push and Saber Toss to pinpoint accuracy.  While Darth Ravage has killed dozens of Jedi (so many that fully one whole hallway of the Sith Temple on Korrriban is filled with Jedi lightsabers, the only trophies he considers worthy enough to keep on his person are the 5 hilts of the fallen Council members.

Trophies

Modified Biomask

Biomask attached to backpack for storage

Sith Lightning

Plasma Caster bolt

The biomask was press-molded by myself from an original.  It came out lopsided (1st time attempting casting/molding), but it worked.  Modified with some jaw bone armor from the parts bin and shaped to be a lil' different from the original.  The Predator was upgraded with simple-to-do cut wrist articulation, and the hook for the biomask to hang added.  Easy-peasy.  The tatts were suppossed to emulate Darth Maul, but I sucked at that.  So, they are just "Sithy tatts".  This fig is based on a pic I found on teh interwebs of a cosplayer who created a Maul/Predator hybrid costume.  If I can find the inspirational pic, I will post it.  Just the thought of a Dark Side-wielding Predator is frightning.  Hope you enjoy!  I've got several more of these "KPU"s to debut soon.  Ish.  Thanks for tuning in!

Re: Darth Optimus' Customs 10/20 Weyland/Yutani Covert Ops Squad
« Reply #778 on: October 20, 2012, 12:37:33 PM »
Thanks for the love on the Sith Lord Predator.  Here is another entry into my Aliens-inspired universe.

This squad doesn't exist.  Officially, anyway.  If they did, they would be labled "Copyright Enforcement" or "Asset Denial" specialists.  Their mission is to secure areas that have had xenomorph sightings for teams of scientists to move in and set up shop.  Rumors of their existance abound, despite their best efforts to keep witnesses from occuring.  Children share tales of them during sleepovers, calling them "The Men in Black".  They even have a rhyme they whisper to each other in the darkness: "Two by two, with hands of blue.  The Men in Black will come for you.  You can't run, you can't hide.  The Men in Black want what's inside".  Theories abound about their origins...some say that they are Synthetics, others claim that they are clones of an infamous bounty hunter.  The truth is more insidious than all the rumors.  They are actually genetically engineered xenomorph/human hybrids.  Their human DNA has been spliced with the Alien's, giving them several unique abilities.  They are telepathically linked, are stronger and more agile than baseline humans, have enhanced senses and have minimal natural resistance to Alien blood.  They are not given names, only identification numbers and are trained in all manner of black ops tactics.  The gengineered mutants are assigned to squads of four and their only semblance of individuality is they are allowed to choose their own gear and weaponry.  All their items are black on black on black (hence the name), except for special bright blue gloves each member wears.  The exact purpose of the gloves is currently unknown.
Squads of Colonial Marines have been wiped out by these so-called MIB units.  Exercise extreme caution.

MIB squad:

Unit 110-AZ1001, squad leader

Unit 214-AZ36112, heavy gunner

Unit 972-AZ2125, demolitions

Unit 617-AZ5113, medic & sniper

This squad was going to be my entry into the 5th year Bday Contest...but I felt that they weren't strong enough (mostly due to the monochromatic paint scheme and lack of real modification).  So, here they are instead.  Obviously, they are a mash-up homage to "Aliens", "Firefly" and "Men in Black", with a smidge of SW thrown in for flavor.  Or, perhaps not-so-obviously, depending on your knowledge of those universes.  Their helmets are Fordo's, all modified slightly (with greeblies).  The heavy gunner's visor moves, as does the squad leader's range finder.  Two of the units have the "acid-nullifying base spray" containers utilized by my USCM squad, and they are removeable.  The paint scheme doesn't show up very well in the cruddy pics.  They are painted in gloss black and flat black, with dark grey dry brushing for highlights.

BONUS:

Here is a quick WIP shot of a full-on Ronto repaint I'm working on.  He/she will be the mount of the post-apocalyptic "gas mask" fig I'm working on for the Collector's Workbench contest.  Thanks for tuing in!
